I think this one comes down to the exact language in the contract. Gut feel would be that showing and being paid for showing constitutes a fight for his contract. Technically might even be a forfeit win? He met all the requirements to have the fight, and his opponent decided not to fight him.

He didn't fight for sure. But there were for sure secondary clauses in the contract regarding both the fighters and the UFC in case something like that happens e.g. Was he offered another opponent? If the answer is "No" It definitely shouldn't count.... But probably it is Yes. So It would come down to how many opponents can he turn down for a date that had already been scheduled for him to fight

Chael I have a question for you. Does the UFC as a company reserve the right to tell him, “not to show” or in this case not to weigh in? Because in that case it most definitely wouldn’t affect the amount of fights left on his contract, and they wouldn’t have to pay him? Or was it purely Bennys choice to “show”? When I saw he weighed in, my mind went to he’s the backup fighter, right? Moicano doesn’t make weight, Moicano trips over a cord and gets injured like Tony Ferguson, they could still preserve the main event. A lot Of what ifs here, but ultimately I’m curious if The Ultimate Fighting Championship located in Las Vegas on the second floor had any say in what transpired?

No It doesn’t count as a fight. It would count as a fight if he were to accept a win bonus to accompany his show money. I would imagine he would be given a choice to take the show money and keep 3 fights left on his contract or take the show money and take a win bonus and cross a fight off the contract.
