I think Daigo would have played like that regardless of the marketing behind of SFV. If you have a showmatch and one player is CLEARLY better than the other then the whole thing becomes pointless and boring unless the better player sandbags.

I feel like Daigo tried to make it as close as possible for the show: Last game, Last round, and both 1 hit away from dying. But then he messed up the anti-air for the win. Unlucky. Think about how boring it would've been if Daigo just 3-0'ed him without dropping a single round while getting a bunch of perfects along the way. At least now people are still talking about the match to this day, and the FGC got a lot of publicity and possibly a lot of new players because of this game alone.

I remember for a fact heavy DP didn't have upper body invincibility. How do I know this? Flowchart Ryu was my main in season 1. Medium DP could be done on wakeup and every time I did it successfully (where it wasn't baited) it landed.

9:40 probably unfamiliarity with timing for Solar Plexus on activation. Had that happen a few times to me back then too. Pressed punch too early and nothing happens I just ended up walking forward. Still, I'd also agree Daigo was holding back. He didn't throw the whole game, but he did hold back enough for Lupe to win so everyone would be extremely hyped. It's obvious by how much he walked forward without blocking. There were some games where Daigo did try though, which is also an awesome way to create hype. Overall, awesome game to watch.

This match was so good because so many people didn't expect Daigo to sandbag. Everyone kept repeating Daigo's own quotes that he gives it his all no matter who you are. I was one of them and thought Daigo would play seriously and win easily. But then the match begins and we all went nuts because we knew what Daigo was doing. It made it so much more special and entertaining. People talked about a rematch, but no they should never rematch again unless Lupe gets really good. This can't be repeated again because if there was a next time then everyone and their mother would know the plan going in and that would ruin it IMO.

Heavy dp didn't have full inv, it was medium dp that had full invulnerability frame one

This is nothing new. There are videos of Daigo and others top players losing against regular people (I remember one that there was a Playstation for the one who could beat Daigo). At a certain point, they should let someone win, I think it's quite normal as a part of the show.
