If he's not at least in the conversation then the conversation is intentionally tilted against him. I think what "hurts" him in these conversations is he doesn't do anything explosive or glamorous, but more importantly is the fact that he is simply consistent. Every week you know what you're going to see when Goff touches the ball. He's not perfect, but none of the MVP quarterbacks have ever been perfect.

did you see his first 3 weeks? I love goff. I am a Lions Fan. But he was not consistent this season. He is catching up. If he is continuing like the last 3 games, he will be MVP. I think he is second behind Lamar now.

@@lukki1328 IMO, the first 3 games of the NFL regular need to be viewed differently than the rest of the games because practically no starters play in the preseason. Goff's, like just about all starters in the league, first live action snap was in the first game of the season. Practically speaking, the preseason has shifted to the first 2-3 games of the regular season for most teams. Initially, defenses are way ahead of offenses as defense is just read and react. But offense requires timing and positioning that only comes from live action reps. If you go back to the beginning of the season you'll see that most teams struggle offensively.

In a team sport, there is no better player than a leader who is the glue who keeps the team together. A QB who can spread the ball to the entirety of his teammates while still being consistent, still winning and continuing to be selfless at the top. Defensive nightmare to prepare for. Thats a real MVP for any organization.

This team is similar to the early Cowboys and I h as ve felt that way for 2 years now. The talent level gotten from drafting and the trades for additional picks while in different ways securing your qb of the future is a mirror of each other in certain ways. Troy Aikman had great weapons and the best offensive line. A great running game and a valued tight end plus running backs to boot. The Cowboys defense wasn’t great until they added free agent Deon Sanders in a blockbuster deal to make the defense as much a difference maker as the offense. Prayers to Hutchinson but …..🥹”Please sir, can Max come out and play?” 🏈 GAME ON!

From the last 3 games with a rating in the mid 100's...Why is Goff not #1 for MVP? Politics?
@meanmutton
@meanmutton 15 сағат бұрын
Just because Mahomes' wife is a huge MAGA fan and Goff is a progressive Californian doesn't mean that Trump is having people throw the MVP discussion against Goff and in favor of Mahomes. That's kind of a paranoid position. Trump is an old, decrepit man who has to cancel critical campaign events because he's too infirm to do his usual ramble on incoherently for an hour anymore. He absolutely isn't rigging MVP coverage.

It starts like a classic: “Clap…CLAP…SKOL..!!” As a Lions fan watching I knew this truly would be the GAME OF THE WEEK! It had fans of both teams on a rollercoaster ride! A CLASSIC! Tough guy analysts like Gruden & Bradshaw are comparing parts of his game to the likes of Joe Montana & Tom Brady. They mention after saying this that they are serious. He’s playing like a legend and has defeated Mahomes 2-0 during the regular season with 2 different teams. He’s been improving consistently ever since 4Th round pick St Brown got a chance to play and give him a legitimate target. Now he’s MVP material. Listen closely and u can hear it: “JARED GOFF! JARED GOFF! JARED GOFF, JARED GOFF!!!” Sounds better than skol.

It looked like my Lions wanted to hand the game to the Vikings with that ridiculous fake punt at their own 25, the repeated penalties from their second string right guard, and a very uncharacteristic fumble by Monty later in the game… that could’ve and should’ve been a 14 or 17 point win for the Lions…

It's interesting... the Vikings were one first down away from winning this game. Yes, Darnold didn't complete the pass. But I wonder if we'd be still having this conversation about Goff IF Darnold did complete that pass and the Vikings won? Dont get me wrong... Goff is good and his play deserves to be talked about. But it's mid-way through the season and we're having MVP discussions? If Darnold completed that pass and the Vikes won yesterday, would this conversation be about Darnold as the MVP? This was a great game, played by two great teams with great players and great coaches. The stats show that it was even, right down the middle. It may have been a prelude to the NFC championship game. Who knows? What I do know is that there is a lot of football to be played and one play can change the entire season. Look at what happened to the Vikes last year and what happened in Cleveland yesterday. Let's focus on the game and how good it was, both sides of field and what this looks like for the remainder of the season instead of focusing on the QB or one player that may or may not even been a factor, eight long weeks from now. My .02.

Or we can talk about what happened to the leading DPOY front runner in Dallas Hutch breaking his leg. It is a fact though that Goff should be one of the front runners in the MVP conversation this far in the season so long as he doesn't get injured and he keeps up the production he's had over the last 3 weeks!
