Glad to see the split and the white hive doing so well. Finding the queen bee is like finding Waldo.

Well done sir! I noticed you questioned if there was already a queen in that hive - along with the queen cells. I would assume no. Those cells were on the verge of hatching out, and her majesty will mate within the first few days. Given the time frame (12 days) since your last inspection, I feel you were right! She hatched out and got BUSY! Your method for finding your queen in the first video was interesting and nothing I've seen before... again, well done and keep up the good work!

Sorry mate but 16 Celsius is 60 Fahrenheit. On a windy day like you have there that's me putting on my jumper. I'm lucky cause it's not yet cold enough where i live to put a jumper on yet. In another month though that wont be the case. Will need to rug up a bit for around a month then back to the previous gear. I don't envy you how cold it gets down in Geelong as I don't like the cold. That's why I live in Queensland 😂 Thanks for all the work making these vids for us to watch. I got worried a bit when you dropped the queen in pt 1. So glad she was ok. Thanks again.

Great video. I’m glad I’m not the only one who can’t find queens 😂. I’m in Ireland and just getting things ready for our season to start. Can’t wait. I love bee keeping. They are just sooo fascinating. Have liked and subscribed 😁👍🍀🇮🇪

Another great video mate. Just a quick question, do you live near Fawkner. I know its in Vic but thats about it. Theirs a newbie their thats having troubles with her hives. Im in nsw so its not viable for me to phisically help but only through messaging.

Thankyou. I’m in Geelong. I’m not currently offering my mentor services so I would suggest she joins a local bee keeping club and seeks help there. It will be more local and relevant knowledge.

How does the queen decide which cell to lay an egg in??
@aussiebeekeeping Жыл бұрын
I think she decides based on a few things like, is the cell clean and Is it close to other brood

What happens when you put the frame back in the box. Don't some bees get squished?
@aussiebeekeeping2 ай бұрын
Not normally but sometimes.

The queen could be on the right hand side of frame on top of capped brood at about 19:16?

I know you identified drones, but can you explain how you recognize a drone vs a worker bee?
@aussiebeekeeping Жыл бұрын
Drones are a lot larger than worker bees. Check out this video which shows a clear example. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIqVeYiBqrxlqtU

Why are they so unbalanced why didn't you make them 50/50 you put so many frames of brood into the new Hive you can barely see anything and left like 7 frames empty in the original hive and so they'll be behind schedule no honey this year?
