Even though TV shows have a "recipe" for creating their audience / following, I believe that people who watch car shows are more interested in seeing the process rather than a formula to fit into 42 minutes. Your KZbin channel fits my needs, so good on you! Thanks for the update!

The car media industry is changing as a whole. Magazines have dwindled for year, I know from experience, being let go from multiple mags. The TV production was always popular but unloved, as it deserved much better. Online media is the natural evolution. You are going to kill this next phase of your work. You, your wife and team members do a great job. Can’t wait to see the next level that is coming.

Great video Ian, I wondered what happened. Always enjoy your shows and Jamie’s contributions. Something that makes your videos so much better than most commercial videos is that you don’t waste our time stretching 30 min shows out to 60 minute episodes as is the trend with most shows. Cheers Peter from downunder.

The best part of Full Custom Garage (for me) was watching you create. Some of the shows yours was aired alongside were just sticking "JC Whitney" gimmicks on a car and calling it custom. Plus, your personality, you always come off as easy going and upbeat. This new KZbin phase is already giving us more insight into your process and who you are. You and Jamie are fun to follow.

I guess in these later years I stopped watching. But you mentioned "just adding sponsors products and not using yor creative skill". When I first started watching, I saw NO sponsors products, just your unique skills. My God man, you built a sports car out of CARBOARD, and blew a "bubble top" and not just 1. All your early episodes were ALL YOU. 😀

I work in law enforcement and also have been welding and fabricating for over 30++ years and every time I see a video or an old show, I always pick up some useful information. Your metal work is some of the best ive ever seen. I was building a 1929 3 window plymouth coupe. 4 wheel disc, shortened mosers rear, boxed frame, chopped and channeled, 283 sbc, muncie rockcrusher, and some other odds and ends. Unfortunately i had to sell it to get a home for my expanding family. I'm looking forward to what you create next.Like most people will comment about 99% of all of the other " car build " shows go, your show has been, and always will be my favorite. I do have to ask if all of the tools on the show are yours or other? I have a moderate vintage/antique license plate collection that I would be honored to send you some to hang in your shop.

You sir, are an inspiration. A humble man that has a knack to teach those of us that lack your skill set, but are not afraid to roll up our sleeves, get to work and try to leave our mark in this world. You are truly "Outta this World". Can I make a suggestion? First of all, I have enjoyed your work from the beginning. Even before knowing your name. I used to refer to you as "The Car Designer with Lightning Bolt Tattoos on his Arms". Maybe you should incorporate a Bolt into your insignia. Put it on the Arm that is shifting a stick shift out of the space ship... Or an additional drawing of the spaceship with two landing gear with those same tattoos on the landing gear. Just a thought Bub... Happy Thanksgiving to you and Jamie...

My memory's gone, but my favorite show was the famous guy, passed now, that made hot rods, but his show picked up where he left off last week. Shows now days completely rebuild and paint a car in the hour, and I hate it. I'd much rather see a complete job in a whole season, step by step, than a 30 minute transformation. The step by step stuff is how I learn the most.

I love watching you cut stuff up, throwing caution to the wind so it seems, then how easy you make it look to create a vision to replace it. I used to do a bit of mural work on panel-vans and motorcycles back in the 80's here in Australia and have always had a fascination in custom vehicles. I go back and watch some of the Full Custom stuff as the finished product in a lot of cases was just amazing. Just watched the episode of you and Victor finishing his brother's dual axle boat creation ... just WOW. Custom vehicle creation on KZbin would not be the same without Team Roussel ...

I used to watch Full Custom Garage, and it wasn’t always easy to get in Canada due to network issues, which channel is going to carry it. I enjoyed the show, it was different than other car shows at the time. Now that there’s the KZbin channel and I’m not going to lie and I’m certainly not trying to blow sunshine up either yours or Jamie’s butts but I enjoy this format more. I do wish we could have longer episodes, sometimes it seems things are getting quite interesting and it’s “ well folks until next time” o’clock. Now just wondering what’s up with Lil Jewel? Have you put that project on the shelf? Are you collecting some parts for it, looking at putting it on yet another frame? I know the original frame was no longer viable and you had thought about retrofitting the cab onto that other frame from your buddies truck. Just wondering as it was a nice looking COE

The film industry is changing because technology has progressed so that fifty people are no longer needed to produce a entertaining product. And the best thing I and the other viewers get to watch something we are interested in enough to watch. The thing about the shows produce by production companies is they are trying to produce a product that appeals to a broad audience and do not care about purpose of content. I had grown lackadaisical about watching a number of shows such as home remodeling and custom car builds where grown adults were acting like goofy teenagers playing tricks on each other. I am glad in that I had experience watching Ian’s show on TV and when I saw you where on KZbin I was excited. So far you guys are producing what I have wanted to see on the TV shows and I really hope that ya’ll can make this work financially.

Thanks for 'putting that out there'. I think discerning viewers (fans), could tell from the start you weren't one to tolerate corporate BS. I realized your independence by the credits to the production company that owned your show idea, and that it was 'apart' from MT. Discovery/Warner Blunders has dumped a number of 'reality' shows and characters across the spectrum but the biggest hits seemed to come at MT. I feel sympathy more for the production people than the talent. The show runners, camera crews, logistics people don't have You Tube to fall back on. You and Jamie have made a great transition to You Tube (probably because you were independent to start with) and I enjoy greatly 'watching the sausage get made'.

I found your channel a couple years ago. Had no idea you had been around for so long. You are one of my favorite car artists. Very humble and kind human and your friends and cohorts are awesome. Plus your pittie is so cool 😎

I understand your frustration and agree with your decision and direction. Another show I watched Fatom Works with Dan Short that was on Motor Trend quit for the same reason. The show started to interfere with his business. All my favorite car shows are on KZbin, and I like the format showing all the details of what it takes to do what you do. Keep it going😊

FCG was my favorite show on MTTV. I'm not really a car guy but I like to watch other people build things. I was always amazed by your artistic and sheet metal skills. Loved the collaboration between you and Victor. The other guys, Jack, Johnny and Bill were great too. I can understand why you had to leave. I too get burnt out from doing the same thing over and over. I'm glad you found a way to do what you want.

Thank you for educational and interesting content. Have watched you for years? You collaboration with your counterparts has also brought those old "masters out of the garage and given them a second chance that shows their genius from years ago and how it can help the next batch of builders. Keep up the good work as you share your knowledge and expertise.

They filmed a few episodes of lost in transmission with Rutledge in our body shop. It was a nightmare. They would tell us to stop hammering, shut the compressors you guys are making too much noise. This was in a large working body shop with customers cars in it. Stop making noise? In a body shop? A body shop that's not making noise is not making money. For what they paid, it wasn't worth it. Never again.

So So happy I found you Ian. I am in Brisbane Australia, we do not get much information from our SHIT TV NETWORKS about what is going on with a lot of Custom car shows. Anyway you and your family have a great Christmas and stay safe. Now I can sit back and catch up with your fantastic work. Cheers Mate.

Happily I recently found the YT channel. I had been a long time viewer of FCG. I'm really enjoying the longer and more detailed content on YT. You're even showing when things don't exactly work out and what you do to fix it. Keep grinding, cutting, and welding.

An avid watcher from UK and loving the format. Bouncing from project to project keeps it interesting for me. I switched off from TV car shows years ago. Most of them are just drama, unrealistic deadlines and in-house fighting, presumably aimed at car guys under the age of twelve. Thanks for keeping it real.

Ian the show was all about you. Without your creativity and Victor no show could could have ever developed. No fake drama, no gotta make SEMA builds, no pumping up sponsors. Business is business and all good things come to an end. Now a new chapter opens for you. A man, a hammer, and his torch. And enjoying life. All the best!

There's no questioning your out-of-the-box ingenuity, craftsmanship, and problem solving artistry. In an industry of high dollar, cookie cutter rides made for wealthy elites. It is a refreshing change of pace to see someone create masterpieces from what many call junk. And iIt's awesome to know that even if your old show isn't coming back, we can still get a dose of Ian's great-rides. Keep up the inspirational work, and don't forget to have fun along the way.
