We are SAD! We had to move and while we aren't making the reason public, just know that it was a decision that did not come lightly. Please share in saying goodbye to Ian's old shop and support us in the new shop. We have some really fun ideas for builds in the new shop that will be "outta this world!" Please leave us a comment of some of your favorite memories of the shop. We want to hear them all! Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you again next week! ~. Once upon a time, deep in the Mojave desert, there lived an amazing metal artist named Ian Roussell...his artistic palate has always been a bit askew from the norm, this... among many of his other eccentricities are what makes him such a blessing to the custom car community. Good luck in your new digs Mr. Ian... I know that you amd Miss Jamie will flourish there. Greater times and new memories wait to be made.

It's what you brought into the shop that made the shop special. Appreciating its quirks you inherited, the accomplshments now turned to memories, and how the desert shaped and changed you as you shaped and changed all what was brought into the shop. You are taking with you what made it special. It can be left with satisfaction, having served its purpose, and is a memorable leverage for wherever you go. It is well, now that it is done, that it was well done. Hold whatever you have lightly, whoever you have closely, and appreciate the moment, for time waits for nobody.

Life happens. I miss the shop inspector - RIP ... Life needs change for renewal and rejuvenation - like the old vehicles and various 'finds' turned into rolling art. Ian IS the constant and has remained real, the dogs his right hand, various partners/clients/visitors/apprentices/masters - friends all - have been quality quirky people, and of course Jaimie arrived, complimenting Ian just about as perfect as possible with her mad skills and leveling up the soundtrack. Keep on keeping on - I've been here from 'Back from the Dead' and hope to keep up with y'all into the future!

If anyone knows how to successfully pivot, it’ll be Ian. I recently watched the whole series for the first time, and Ian is absolutely unique in his approach to building. I love his usage of what’s around, it’s so relatable and real. My favorite part about the desert shop (and really the whole show) is the love for Dude. We had to put a 14 y.o. Dobie down yesterday, and I just happened to watch the show at the same time she was living out her last days. I can’t tell you how moved I was when Ian used Dude’s bed to upholster the seat of the desert hot rod. Truly an amazing tribute to the best shop inspector there ever was. Good luck to y’all, I’m sure Ian will thrive in the new shop.

Ian is amazing. His vision and creation reminds me of when I was a kid in the golden age of wild customs, innovative design that always got attention. Yeah, maybe not so practical but that's not the reason we build our cars and hot rods. I always loved the episodes with Sir Gene Winfield. Ran into a few times at swap meets just like your average Joe looking for auto treasure. It's so great that Ian totally continues from Gene's generation of cool.
