If the dogs nail was nipped at the groomer, the Plaintiff should have noticed it right away(limping, biting, favoring). Infections in dogs usually happen within days, not weeks. A dog that small would succumb to infection rather quickly. The Plaintiff can't prove the Defendants caused the injury. The INITIAL vet report would have probably helped that. Or maybe it did the opposite and that's why she refused to submit it.

Yes, but would anything the veterinarian wrote in his report stand up as reality? The follow-up notes from subsequent visits were unsatisfactory for Judge Judy, but she is acting like she wants to see the same kind of verbiage used on the first visit to the clinic. Besides, how fast does Judge Judy expect an infection to manifest itself? The groomer made calls to the vet to make inquiries, which is not admission of causation but Judge Judy thinks that's worthless just because it wasn't almost immediately after the grooming occurred. I'm not in a very receptive mood lately.

I've been grooming dogs since 1992 (professionally), and before then. I started my own businesses that is still going today. It is so bizarre when owners of dogs call up and ask if something new or strange happened to their dog while being groomed like 3 weeks ago. There are a lot of people out there that feel someone must be at fault for their dogs itch, scrach, injury, or infection. Um, duh, dogs are active silly creatures who run, play, jump, dig, get into trouble, and expose themselves to all kind of unsavory things. Just because your dog has a cut, flea, twusted ankle, foot or whatever does not mean someone is at fault. Life happens. Especially with kids and pets. And i really dont understand why they (owners of the businesses) left the actual person that groomed the dog at home, what a dumb move.

I don't think it's possible for a dog to get injuries from a pet groomer two weeks later. The dog must've stepped out somewhere and something must've gotten caught in the dog's nail. I believe it probably was a case of the groomer cutting into the nail too far up and it probably bled and she stopped cutting and put a blood stopper powder and then cut it at the right place. It would have taken a week or so to become that infected. And you would be able to tell if the cut was a jagged rip (not from the groomer) or a surgical cut, that would be clear as day. But unfortunately she couldn't prove it.

The dog may only go outside in the backyard rather than walk down the street, but that doesn't mean there aren't things in your backyard that could snag on a dog's nail and possibly break it, causing an infection. I accidentally cut my dog's nail too short once, and I knew immediately something was wrong. It didn't take me two weeks to figure it out. If the groomers did something to injure the dog, the dog would have presented with pain or discomfort right away, particularly if it was on his/her paw. Now, it's entirely possible the infection was caused by something the groomer did, but without a vet report attesting to that, the plaintiff has no suit.

The vet report stated the dog's nail was avulsed, this is equivalent to a person ripping off their entire nail so that all of the nail bed underneath is exposed. This did not occur at the groomer two weeks prior to the owner noticing. If a dog avulsed their nail at the groomer, the owner would have noticed immediately. It would have been intensely painful, the dog would have likely been limping and licking at it. This injury occurred shortly before the owner noticed something was wrong. With the quick exposed since the nail was completely avulsed, infection can occur, it is unfortunate the infection go so bad, but it was nothing that the groomers did.

@@newsflash7609agree with this comment 100%. Legit injury. She presumes it’s from the groomer (and it very well may be), but can’t prove it and that’s simply not good enough in court

Lord. Do you know nothing about " Production".... She was told to bring the dog. It's all fake. I was on the Ellen Degeneres show, for their " Hidden Audience Talents" portion........ They scouted me, put me up in a hotel, sat me in the audience, and told me what to do. THAT IS PRODUCTION!

@newsflash7609 could be a scam where they just make companies suffer. Like If she wins the company would be liable. She won't personally benefit but idk

No she isn’t. They cracked the nail close to the nail bed, as she explained, the infection doesn’t show up straight away and it would take the nail growing out for the infection to really take hold. The nail wasn’t snapped off, it was a crack in the nail, so as the nail grows… and the crack becomes bigger… infection becomes more likely. It’s really simple.

There’s no way she can prove the groomer was at fault because too much time had passed. She obviously didn’t understand she had to prove - with expert testimony - it was the groomer’s fault. Lucky for the grooming salon since they didn’t bring the groomer that took care of the dog. That was really stupid on their part not to bring her. Actually, this entire case was stupid.

Hmm infections have to be pretty serious to need amputation. Typically dogs lick the area and she would have known sooner.
@brackenrobertson799
@brackenrobertson799 Ай бұрын
She would have known sooner? Do you know how a crack in a nail can work with dogs? It became infected after two weeks, it was a crack in the nail close to the nail bed which then needed to grow out… meaning the crack got bigger and the likelihood of infection heightened. Infections also don’t show immediately.
@casual35
@casual35 Ай бұрын
@@brackenrobertson799 That's irrelevant. In the law, you have to prove it. She couldn't prove that the groomer did it. Plus s crack in the nail is broad. Could be big, could be small. Dog may not be very active so the crack doesn't get worse etc. I can go on. In court she had to make the connection and she couldn't. Dismissed.

The dog only goes in the back yard. Yeah, well, my Dachshund was running through our back yard, snagged a nail from his front paw onto something, and literally ripped the entire nail right out of its socket. So yeah. Something like that can happen anywhere, anytime. If it was something the dog groomer caused, the plaintiff, more than likely, would have noticed it much sooner.

This is what annoys me about judge Judy. When she doesn’t understand, she assumes. She clearly said the reason she couldn’t see it was because it wasn’t a snapped nail, it was a crack further up the nail so it wasn’t visible until the nail grew. She didn’t even ask the defendants. Annoying
