Biggest gripe with playing nids is that the anti psyker kings in lore do next to nothing to stop psykers in game. How doesn't Shadow on the warp make psykers -1 to hit or literally anything other then nothing

I tried one the first time yesterday. Really loved it. 1250p game and he moved up a flank behind a Screamerkiller and Haruspex, backed up by a Neurotyrant. They took that side from the World Eaters and moved into the midfield after that

This unit is very good when it is buffing a bunch of other units. 6+ feel no pain is not great, but when applied to 3 or 4 other units? it is really good. They are also very durable. I think you are severely underrating this unit. Alone this is bad, but that's why you never send it alone, put it behind your screamer killer or other front line model, make your army tanky, then use it to hit the enemy lines after you big bugs have died softening them up. I will always have at least one of these in my army for the foreseeable future. rating: 4/5

I really like this model. Its going to be the next in line for painting. I wish it would hit a bit harder though, because now you really only take him for the FNP aura. And you´re right, changing it to a 5+ FNP would make him so much better.

I paired one with a Toxicrene & Maleceptor last game and as a block it did pretty well. The main issue with the model I found was the swingy number of hits, but the overlapping auras of those models worked pretty well together.

Just +5 fnp could be too good so i would like +5 fnp for infantry +6 for monsters or something like that.

I put him next to my tyranofex with the acid spitters and plug up the middle of the board. He give the flex a feel no pain which makes him even more trouble and use the psycho to attack melee threats coming for my flex. I think that’s his only use really.

He did work in my game vs 1000 suns. I do like the idea of having a block of tervigon, psychophage, zoanthropes, venomthropes with 60-80 tanky termagants in front with devourers fishing for lethal hits. Probably more meme than actually good, but we'll see.

Two games done so far and I tend to agree. However, he has taken only a couple of wounds and promtly sat on a no man’s land objective throughout the both games. Also having a big base, it forces enemy’s movement a bit. So yeah, it’s a distraction and quite tanky, but that’s it.

I like the model, I just think the unit itself has rules that are just a bit too niche.

I found the psichophage to be a fairly decent support piece, either in the middle of a gaunt carpets and/or a lot of cheap monsters (haruspexes/exocrines). I wouldn't rate it higher than 2.5 out of 5. Don't expect any ofensive coming from him (even against full psyker armies, it is too random), but it saves enough wounds to justify the investment, when it is protecting a high quantity of wounds.

Definitely better than the Toxicrene for the points I'd say, and good utility protecting advances. I'd put it at 2.5, maybe 3.5 against psychic armies

i run two in my fun aura list and giving 6+ fnp to the whole army is being a lot of pain for the opponents thou the rest of its stats dose nothing really its there for an army wide fnp for 250 points when i use it

I find him very useful as a second assault, the plus 1 to hit and maybe wound is great. It also auto hits for overwatch

I'm a new tyranid player following purchase of Leviathan box. I played some training games using it and indeed I didn't find it very useful. You just confirmed what I was feeling. I will wait for the codex to see if he could become more useful

Its really odd, that they pushed this box so hard and even made this Ogrym event and then have all the big awesome looking models kinda suck. The Screamer is too expansive, the Tyranid prime just odd, The Psychophage is just decent against psychic heavy armies and the Neuro Tyrant is just ok too. The only really good model, gameplay wise is the Barbgaunts. Lets hope they gotta give them some love in the new codex.

@@Dewoy1 I find the neurotyrant good with his ability to give synapse at 2 units in 12" because he is also very tanky : with adaptive biology he has 4++ and FNP 5+++/4+++. I use it to accompany the big bugs forward

@@gillesmelet1044 Sure, me too, you can easly take him for 105 points but he ain´t amazing. Competetive i think you only take him for shadow of the warp. When i saw him the first time and they said that he can take care of himself compard to Zoanthropes, i though this thing could really put the hurt onto something. Like a giga Neurothrope.

I think 1.5 is too harsh. It’s definitely not great or anything, but it’s not too expensive, it’s easy enough to get 6+ FNP on a bunch of models which can make a meaningful impact, it’s very tough for its points, and it gets to randomly hose your opponent in certain matchups (Grey Knights, Thousand Suns, etc.) All the points you made are accurate, but I’d still personally put it around 2.5 I feel it’s mediocre and kind of matchup dependent but still reasonable as an inclusion given its relatively low cost imo.

Never liked this thing, this and the screamer killer are the two main reasons i didn't get leviathan. it just looks ugly as hell imo, glad to know i'm not missing out on much.

not only is the unit disappointing the concept is just dumb what happened to the shadow in the warp? why arnt the psychers committing suicide a month before the battle even starts? why does this thing exist ??? its almost as disappointing as synapse 5+ is still useless imagine the best smoke, glitters and metallic imbued to screw up all the enemy sensors, body temp so even heat vision sees nothing and then its thiccccccccc because the nids have synapse, they dont need to see out of it you need to see in but they dont need to see out at all thats the smoke this thing should have, reduce the enemy to firing blind and praying no extra save but a -3 to the to hit rolls wish nids resembled tyranids a little just some vague similarity's would be nice

This model was cool, and i wanted to disagree with you, but i can't. He's too niche. He's awesome when you go up against psychers, but outside of that...? Meh. And just an aside, what is this fetish GW has with 6+ saves!? I HATE that mechanic. And before anyone says anything, no, i don't think it's better than nothing because it feels patronizing. "We don't want to give *unit* a GOOD save, but we'll give *unit* this so the players will shut up." Is how it feels.

Pointless monster from GW just to make money, literally just a psychic version of the god awful haurespex model. Has a bunch of weird gimmicky rules like the parasite of mortrex, neurotyrant model is cool but rules are weird. Neurolicter is aids to look at and I know the rules are gonna be average at best. New gaunts, genestealers and Norn Emissary are gorgeous models that will used competitively
