With H&M I’ve learned from a lady in the store that the sizing depends on the collection. They have collections for adults and teens (I think it’s the DIVIDED collection) and the teen stuff runs smaller and also shorter! Because I’m very small the clothing from the „adult“ collection is always waaayy to long on me and their XS runs bigger than the teens XS.

This is correct. Hennes or womens will be larger than Divided which is more catered towards young adult/teen. When I worked there I wore a size 6 in Hennes and a size 10 in Divided.

Tops I’ve never really had a problem in H&M but bottoms were always a bad experience with me there since high school. It’s nice to see they’re getting a little better with their sizing. I’ve noticed with H&M that the larger straight sizes and plus sizes sell out SUPER quickly online and in store. That may be a reason why there weren’t many options.

Honestly, I was so surprised I tried on things there recently. The one thing to keep in mind is H&M doesn't just have 2 different lines they have like 6 or more within their store. So if you are grabbing from different areas you might need to grab different sizes. One area I was a M and another I was my usual L.

h&m has always been one of the most inclusive bathing suit brands for me. literally the only place i’ve been able to find tops at big box store type brand for years because they do bra sizes and the range in sizing is decent

I remember a few years ago shopping in H&M and asking an associate to help me find something in an XL and she was SO mean to me. I was shocked. Her attitude implied how dare I shop there as my size. I’m glad to hear they’re much better now

As a size XL I adore H&M. It’s basically my whole wardrobe other than thrifting lol. I just always have great luck at the store. And I size down in almost everything except bottoms cause everything is massively oversized. Have you heard that Zara is doing a good American collab?? I have feelings about that but hey I’d love for Zara to branch out to larger sizing.

I’m a size 22/24 and a lot of my wardrobe is from H&M. Their straight sizing (not DIVIDED) seems to work for me like 7/8 times out of 10. And I usually buy XXL from their straight sizes. I do love their plus sizes as well but I have less from that section surprisingly. (I don’t buy their jeans tho I just haven’t been impressed with those.) I’m so surprised by how thin that brown obsessed shirt is. All of my H&M graphic tees and tank tops have such thick material.

I feel like they've become so much more size inclusive. I ALWAYS find my size online AND in store. and it is usually pretty true to size. I'm a fan! also I feel like the quality isn't too bad. some lines have bad quality, divided for example. but the rest is pretty good

I never actually went in an H&M because of its reputation until this week. I was doing searching last-minute for a euphoria-themed semi-formal and the panic was real! Zara was cute but nothing fit, then the worker told me to check H&M. Literally went to 3 different stores to get the right sizes but I got what I needed, and it was true to size! Biggest surprise of 2022.

As a mid-Millennial I was shocked when I walked into H&M and not only was able to fit into the clothes, I found my favorite pair of jeans for $9.99. I don't know what happened, but I approve of it.

I always had to go up 2 sizes when I bought jeans from them and haven't shopped there since years. Now I buy mostly from Monki - I know, that's a sister company - but their sizing is on point, I even can order online and be sure the things fit. But after your video I'm intrigued and want to try H&M jeans again 😄

i went back to h&m recently for the first time since hs and yeah i was surprised by the changes too i used to buy 2 sizes up and now everything in my normal size was way big on me but my friends said that all their h&m pants shrunk in the wash so i bought my regular size and they're still slightly big even after washing

I realized from shopping at H&M that majority of their clothes runs like a size big. I’m usually like an extra-large and then a size 18 to possibly 20 if the jeans have no stretch but I end up being able to fit in size large at H&M. Kind of makes me feel good that I get to size down but size shouldn’t matter.

I used to shop at H&M when I was in middle school and high school but mid way through university I stopped going in because I stopped fitting into their clothes even tho in other stores I still was an xl occasionally a L. Happy to hear they're extending their sized, even tho it does suck that most of it appears to be online. This was great! I've noticed the same thing, and have been shopping at H&M more often. I'd love to see you try jeans at old navy because EVERY time I go in there to try jeans on I'm a different size in EVERY style. Curious if its just me or if everyone else fits differently in literally every pair of jeans from old navy. Drives me crazy! all of my jeans are either h&m or levis. i love h&m jeans! you can find just the right amount of thickness and minimal stretch, which is what i prefer. the price is fantastic and they LAST! unlike a&e jeans that fall apart after a year now.

The clothing in the H&M stories in the US are cut more generously than the clothing in the H&M stores in Europe. When H&M first came to the States, the clothing was cut like the clothing in EU, but now they adjusted the cut for the US market. I’m a size US 8-10, and I wore an XL from H&M until they changed the cut. BTW - the jeans looked amazing on you. I didn’t think that they were tight at all, but I understand if you didn’t feel comfortable in them.

I'd love to see a fitting room video of stores like Anthropplogie and Free People. Most ppl go to Urban Outfitters but I never see them go to the other stores UO is part of. The clothes at all 3 stores are expensive overall, but I'm always drawn to them. I'm a size 16 though and don't know if any of their clothes would look right, or if they would even carry the extended sizes in store.

As a European I feel like h&m runs big and Zara/Mango are “normal”. When I lived in the US I usually had to size down (I always wear a medium in anything in Europe, in the US most of the times a medium was too big)

Noooo I'm in Europe too and their stuff runs so small. I can get an EU 44/46 at KappAhl, Cubus, etc but a pair of shorts in the same size from H&M I can't even get them over my hips. It's crazy small

It depends on the product, I think HM is true to size and Zara and Mango are smaller than what the measurements say. xl in Zara isn't really what an extra large should be.

I've had the complete opposite experience at H&M. Even when I was plus size at 255 pounds a couple years ago, their sizes have always ran big in my opinion. I could fit into a L or even M when at other stores I was 1XL or 2XL. Now that I lost 100pounds I still find their sizing to be a bit big.

I worked there for years and the comments are right! The divided black dept is much smaller it’s targeted for teens (like divided blue for guys) but the normal line is more size inclusive (they also offer plus size online)

Have you ever done a video on fashion tape? I'm curious if any of the slightly loose tops (i.e the scallop top shirt) could just be held down with the tape? Can see which tops it works with, which brand is the most durable etc

I've never had sizing issues with H&M, only with shoes I one time had to get a bigger size. But maybe that's Europe idk. I've definitely had this with Spanish clothing chains, their sizes really do run small.

I love H&M jeans; they consistently fit me the best. I do usually have to take in the waist though, as I get the same waist gap that you pointed out. I feel like for a lot of women that have larger hips/thighs, this is a problem. It’s an easy fix though if you have a sewing machine with a denim/jeans needle! You can just do two darts for a quick way to bring them in at the center back. There are other ways to redo the back involving taking off the waistband, but I’m lazy and just sewing two darts is quicker. lol

This is how H&M is in Spain, the sizing is wide, often even a little big. I'm a big fan for that.

Maybe I should go back. Ive never had a problem with their tops. But a few years ago I tried their jeans and never again. The fit was super weird and the sizing was very off. Going back soon to check it out!
