If you bought a frontier good for you as it's an amazing truck. However in 2019 the pro4x was only slightly cheaper than a 2019 off road. With that being said the tacoma is better by miles! It's not even comparable and I can also guarantee that today a 19 tacoma is worth way more than a 19 frontier by a lot! So the 2 to 3k you saved over the tacoma is not really a savings because as soon as you took the frontier out of the dealer you lost in value of your frontier. Frontier = terrible investment if bought new But Amazing value if you buy used 👌👏👍 I actually own both. Bought the tacoma new and bought the frontier used

I bought my 2013 Nissan Frontier in 2014 and now it’s 2023 and I haven’t had any major issues with it. Towed a travel trailer (4,500 lbs loaded) back and from New England to Florida two years in a row and no problems. Now with 92,480 miles still no issues. My second Frontier and not my last. Thanks for the comparison and the video.

Seriously, you want an air scoop? Do realize how much off road low forward visibility you lose in the Taco? I have a Frontier and have driven the Tacoma for several days in the winter in the gas fields of Wyoming as a rental. I absolutely despised that Tacoma hood by the end of the trip. As for offroad- the Frontier is amazingly capable. Was with a group hunting in Colorado. 4 different trucks including a F-150 FX4, a Taco TRD, me in a Pro-4X and a Dodge Ram 4x4. The Ram and I were the only ones that DIDN'T have problems on the trails with climbing up the mountain to where we were going elk hunting. I actually went in a 1/2 mile further than the other trucks. The Ram might have made it, but the driver pulled of at a stopping point with one of the other trucks as they were hunting together. If you know what you're doing, the Pro-4X is very capable off road.

I chose an 09 frontier with 6sp manual based mainly on the driving position in the taco. 11 years later I'm still happy with the decision. @@alexgarcia3900 LOL. Looks like we have a taco fan. Look taco man. The fact that you say it's not even comparable is totally out right ignorant. I too owned a tacoma a few years back. The Tacoma is overpriced and overrated. Also, why does the Tacoma still implement rear DRUM BRAKES?! @@TSniper79 I literally have both in my driveway so this is an unbiased opinion. The frontier is a 2004 truck and it was only SLIGHTLY cheaper than the tacoma in 2019. The frontier is still a good truck and there's no denying that but in 2019 it was not worth what they were asking. I actually wanted to buy a pro4x thinking it would be cheap but to my surprise it was only 3k less over the tacoma. Bro 3k is not worth saving over the tacoma. The tacoma is so much better its not even funny. Sure it has drum brakes but they work great. You get so much more in the tacoma and you know it. If you paid anything more than 30k for that pro4x you got ripped off as in 2 to 3 years it will not be worth much. You know it's true

@@alexgarcia3900 how is it so much better? The drum brakes work good? Haha. My opinion is also unbiased. I owned both. Tacoma is a good truck but for you to describe it as some kind of unicorn is just funny. I have driven both. The frame alone on the Frontier is enough for me to blow Taco out of the water. Wait? Tacoma has crawl control? Bigger infotainment screen? Apple car play? Tell me what sets it apart? The hype? Fact is the Frontier is still the best selling truck. Why because it has value in terms what you get. I high end TRD Pro will leather seats will probably cost you your soul. My Pro4x with luxury package out the door with 7 year warranty is $27k. That being said. I dont plan on selling my Pro4x. So the resale value isn't an issue. Frontier owners tend to hold on to it.

@@TSniper79 . The frontier is the worst selling pickup, look up the numbers. Like I said the frontier is a good truck but not worth the money. How much did you pay for your truck in 2019? if you paid the 27k then great buy. 👍 and if that's the case then you definitely made right choice. Here in Hawaii they wanted 35k for a pro4x base model in 2019. I got my my tacoma for 37k. Also my tacoma has a trade in value of 36k right now and private party of 37k. The tacoma gets better gas mileage, has a better infotainment center, more 4x4 aftermarket, which is huge for me because I off road a lot, better off road system, better interior, it come with an inverter, bed that doesn't rust. The drum brakes are seriously not a problem at all and work great as they have a better surface area. The frame is about the only thing I can agree with you on and yes that's pretty pathetic. That was something I never really cared about because I live in Hawaii though. I actually love my frontier I just think they were not worth the asking price from 2015 and up. With that being said I've owned all the pickup brands and like them all if the price is right.

When my wife bought her 2019 Frontier CC Pro 4x, we looked at the Toyota TRD OFF ROAD that was kinda sorta comparable. The Toyota had some safety features that the Frontier didn't have, but the Toyota didn't have ALLOT of the stuff the Frontier had. Here are some of those things the Toyota didn't have (all that I noticed anyway): Composite bed vs steel with spray in liner, no tie down system in the bed (Frontier had the utilitrac system) no fully boxed frame, no rear disc brakes, no OEM Nav (though it did have android auto) no upgraded stereo, No leather seats, no sun roof, no roof rails, no heated seats, had less TQ, though the Toyota did have a 6 speed auto vs a 5 in the Frontier. The price of the Toyota? $47,600 and the Dealer would not budge AT ALL. The Frontier? We paid $31,600 plus tax and fees. So we are talking over $14,000 difference between the two trucks. After we purchased the Frontier, I drove over to Toyota and showed the sales guy we spoke to. He could not believe we bought the Frontier for that price. He just shook his head and went back in. What could he say?? People want to say the Toyota will be more reliable?? I don't think so, heck even Scotty Kilmer likes the Frontier and we know how much of a Toyota fan boy he is. So I think we did good, and my wife is very happy with her truck 👍😎

I drive a new 2021 Toyota 4cyl Tacoma 2WD 🌮 at my job. I, for the $ would NOT 🚫 buy or lease anything but a 4WD V6. The 4 cyl engine gets good ⛽, 20MPG but the drive, comfort, acceleration are all ⬇️. The 2021 Taco automatic seems to have a awkward layout, complex dash, data displays. You could learn all the systems, buttons but for simple drives, quick glances, 👀 it's not ideal. The base Tacoma pick up has seats that are 🤷🏻‍♂️. The driver seat can be cramped, lack comfort after 2-4hr. If you drive, travel a lot, keep the seats in mind.

great comparison. My only feedback would be that Nissan has some known automatic transmission issues. I think if you could get a Frontier with a manual transmission, then the Frontier would be a great competitor. However, the Aisin automatic transmission used in Toyotas has been bulletproof, whereas the JATCO automatic transmission used by Nissan has been a big failure. Hopefully, you won't be a victim of that. I'm about to buy a mid sized truck and due to my research, for my money, I'm much more confident in the Toyota. Again, thanks for the comparison.

I wouldn't say the nissan had transmission issues, they had radiator issues that caused a transmission issue. This issue was corrected midway in the 2010 model year. The issue was a failure between the coolant reservoir and the transmission cooler that was built into the radiator. They used a metal that would corrode over time mixing the two fluids and it would get into the transmission. If it was not caught early enough it would ruin the transmission.

I went to nissan in 2019 thinking they were cheap because they're ancient trucks but they wouldn't go lower than 35k on a pro4x. I ran out of there!
