How are the pivots on the Fuel EX? Does this bike creak like the majority of trek bikes? (it's creaking sound at 0:52 or something else?) Thanks!
@JaredHoff Жыл бұрын
I’ve been taking the wheels and cassette apart for videos and something was making a weird noise. It does still creak a bit, but I’ve found that a drop of oil on each bearing and regressing the pivot bearings fixes that creak, BUT it’s definitely a Trek problem
@Cata7 Жыл бұрын
@@JaredHoff that's so sad... 🙃 wanted to get the Slash 8 last year but just couldn't go for it because of the creaking thing. I guess I'll skip this Fuel Ex as well...
@JaredHoff Жыл бұрын
@Cata7 After a deep clean, I put one small drop of oil on each pivot bearing and NO creak. I’ll have to make a video on that.

Also the Trek Fuel has adjustable progressively chip, has adjustable “mino link” and the adjustable after market headset cups so - you technically get the shock progression just right via flip chip, throw the mino link into the high setting to have a steeper seat angle and buy after market headset cups to slacken out the fork angle - in my opinion you could get the ride quality’s of the original Fuel but you could make the most incredible all mountain machine via a $1100 and then bam one bike to rule then all! Love your videos btw!

Thank you for the awesome comments 👍 there’s so much you could do with this bike. I’ll see what I can afford to do and make videos on that in the future.

I have a x-country, an e-bike for my trail bike, and an enduro. The enduro actually pedals just fine; it’s about minute slower than my x-country going up a 3 mile climb with a gain of a 1000 feet. I really love have all that capability at top of the trail and taking enduro lines!
@JaredHoff Жыл бұрын
Heck yeah! I just got an e-bike and been having fun on that.

I have the same setup you do. I have the Canyon AL 29 tail bike and 2023 Specialized Enduro Comp. Both with no upgrades. I’m surprised on how well the enduro does climb but just slower. However, it is much faster and the suspension is sooooo smooth I find myself riding it a lot.

It's a minefield! I want a bit more travel BUT having just won our pairs age group at 10 Under the Ben I don't feel I need or want an mega travel heavy enduro. I rode my Giant Anthem 27.5 with just 100mm travel front/rear, my wife rode her 29er hardtail Liv.

Just in the middle of those with a Transition Sentinel. Never felt at home with my Orbea Occam, one of the most praised trail bikes, and now my Sentinel built with almost 90% Occam parts just rips my local trails like it's nobody's business. Hard earned PR's on the Occam just got destroyed on my leisure sentinel rides 😂 Sometimes it takes a while to find what's best for you but when it clicks... Damn 🔥

Definitely 👍 I started on a 130mm trail bike and have gone back and forth over the years. I’m really liking the Fuel EX with 140mm rear and 150mm fork, BUT sometimes I need a little more travel.

Should have left more trail content in there. That looked like one challenging trail! I'm watching this video after riding my 2011 Yeti 575 down Sandy Ridge and Timberline down. I don't do much climbing, seems my Yeti is reaching its limits. Looking to ride Mt Hood bike park, may have to just rent.

Nice rideing 🤟🏽 I got a Exe 9.5 when they first came out changed breakes to shimano fork to 160 cane creek coil on a bommer cr. Bike is Nice. But then i made the mistake of getting a Turbo Kenevo on sale and mulleting it with a 180 23 zeb and lots of other goddies. And zooming up the hills with all that plush and full power really spoils you. I just ordered a sjevo frame, gonna swap over all the parts from my spesh status mtb And get rid of everything except the evo and kenevo. At least thats the plan Lol... This hobby is a money pit. I feel like an addict hiding new parts or bikes from my lady 😢. Ive really got it bad... But its soo much fun out there. I do most all riding out in santacruz its lovely steep and Awesome 🍻 cheers 🤞🏾🤟🏽

Awesome bro! Santa Cruz has some steep trails and great riding. I need to get back there and ride some day. I’ll get an e-bike someday, but don’t think I’ll ever get rid of the traditional MTB.

Hey bro, l have been a fan of your channel for a long time and love your vids(including this one) Im getting a new bike soon either the Polygon Siskiu T8 or the Canyon spectral 27 AL 5 , I feel like the canyon spectral is a bit too much travel and im afraid it wont be playful and feel sluggish and not fun overall for my local trails in Sydney and I feel like the Polygon would be perfect but with that being said I would like to start racing a little bit of enduro next year but nothing too serious when my skills progress, Im currently a novice intermediate rider who is not doing anything crazy on the bike rn but would like to in the future, just would love to know your thoughts on which I should get! Have a good one mate!
@JaredHoff Жыл бұрын
So this is where things get a bit tricky. The polygon T8 will be a more playful bike, but might not be the bike you want for enduro racing. You need to buy the bike for the type of riding you do most often. T8 seems like it would be that bike for you and it’s on sale right now. However, if you want to start getting serious about enduro racing, the Spectral is definitely the way to go. If you do get the T8, you can use the link below to help support the channel. www.bikesonline.com.au/2023-polygon-siskiu-t8-dual-suspension-mountain-bi~

@@JaredHoff I agree with your statement but I left out that I might be getting the 27.5 inch polygon that has 150mm of front travel and the canyon has 160mm, I asked reddit and they said spectral because it has better brakes and linkage and they said the 10mm travel difference isn’t much and you get better components with the spectral so I’m leaning towards the canyon.

Keep the Trek Fuel EX and upgrade the fork travel to 160 via a damper upgrade and then get a coil shock then you got a light-ish all mountain bike that is super capable!
