Hope there will still be available for new spots for you Doke and other graffiti artist. We have the same issue here in Bergen/Norway. One of the first biggest legal walls we had in Bergen since 2005. Now they going to remove the area as well to build stuff outside the area. They are going to find a new spot but pr now unsure where and when....

Hey Doke! Thanks so much for doing a video on us 🙏. Mural Maker is a brand new app so we’re making improvements all the time, we’re going to be adding an AR feature soon that locks the image in place. Some of things I wanted to mention about your video. When you’re drawing outdoors, especially with spray paint, like another comment mentioned I would mark the outlines with a piece of charcoal first instead of going right to the can. Then spray over it, so you can still get those fluid beautiful lines and curves. Then you can use the app as a second set of eyes to compare your work to what is on your wall using the strobe feature. You can see your mural from a distance and compare to the reference, all while standing a foot away from the piece. The other thing is that we don’t have the wide angle lens option because the lens actually distorts the artwork and makes it come out fisheyed. Once we-relaunch some of our new features I’ll shoot you an email. Thanks again!

I think the app could be useful if you used it just as a guide placing small dots on corners and the apex of curves and then doing your normal linework to connect the dots. could be worth a try.
@vrc7net3 жыл бұрын
yeah, i can see some value here for getting the initial proportions right with your pencil or light spraypaint outlines. This can save you the doodle grid and makes it easier for beginners. Then you just go as usual with the real paint strokes. The whole workflow with all the gear, especially when working outside under time constraints, seems a bit cumbersome though. I'd rather learn it properly and not depend on that.
@zerogeo28473 жыл бұрын
Maybe the app could still be used for big art pieces. You can pinpoint checkpoints of were certain details will be and then once that's done you can close the app and continue without it

do the sketch with chalk or charcoal first using the app . Then use paint to get clean sketch outline . It can work in the right environment .

It's a great idea, but it definitely needs some improvements. You could probably use it to make reference points with a brush for right proportions and then continue with a can.

wide angle would give you a fish eye looking grid, and it would be extremely hard to draw with. Unless they find an algorithm that can flatten the image but it would probably be a delay

DOKE! I wonder if your outdoor outline would have worked if you inverted the colors so the background was black and the stencil white. Maybe you could see your work underneath easier. I know this video's old but I still thought I'd share the idea. Much love from the USA!

Hey mate, thank you for reviewing the app. I’m a writer from Australia and trying to move away from spending ages on doing first outline when doing a mural. I’m trying to find out what is the best projector for doing murals during the day? I don’t mind spending $ because it’s my passion. If you or anyone else could let me know that would be great. Cheers bro…..respect!

Hey Doke happy new year! :) From what I see it could be better for transfer faces, characters, drawings... The problem with letterings is that you miss the feeling of building the letter's structure and it comes out like the noobie letters you (me) used to draw when at 13, at school. It would eventually come out right but the feeling of building the blocks structure in a proper lettering will always miss. My 2 sats. Keep up your excellent job tho, 2022 and the best is always yet to come! Best wishes!

Mark the start of your line, and the end, and then using the app, practice the stroke following the drawing a few times, and then do it normally looking at the wall. I think you'll get a much better result.
@iamdrewparker2 жыл бұрын
Maybe the devs didn’t allow the wide angle cause it has a slight distortion? Also here’s a suggestion, if you’re going to do text and or portrait try using a PNG version of the image you’re wanting to draw. Maybe that’ll help with the overall experience with the app. Great video btw! I appreciate the time you took to review this great app! 🔥👏🏾

For the ultrawide lens, it wouldnt be great for drawing since most cameras are distorted near the edges of the ultrawide so it could affect how the art piece turns out on the canvas

Can the app be used at a dramatic angle rather than square on with the wall? This would be helpful when trying to to an optical illusion type of painting.
@ObliviousNF3 жыл бұрын
What about if you did the doodle grid and then took a picture of the wall with the doodle grid on it. Then place the picture on it and you'll have the picture with the grid. So you know where to place the lines and how long the lines are without having to look at the tablet all the time.

I use Both SketchAR and DVEA and both had a crazy learning curve, mostly mental. Once I got some screen time it totally rocks. I have to agree tho that it removes the physicality of doing the sketch on the wall and using a spraycan is difficult. On murals I will use a wax marker instead if I use technology.
@SsomebodyTookMyName3 жыл бұрын
Maybe the app can replace doodle grid to mark out the mural rather then tracing complete lines - that way the flow comes back into it
@deathpyre2 жыл бұрын
Should really be an app that you do your doodle grid, then you take a picture, set your outline on that picture, then it tracks your position through your phone camera. So you point your phone at the wall and you could have a quick outliner that you hold in front of you as you paint and you can always see what youre doing
@DoNE0213 жыл бұрын

@jamesallenmainieri2 жыл бұрын
Maybe the app could, instead of replacing any techniques, be used to just help and reference. Like use the app and a doodle grid, and just check it as you go instead of looking at the screen the whole time. Solar to how you use the doodle grid already just more interactive

Well I guess you could use a pencil to get a rough draft and use the app to pinpoint the location of your eyes nose and mouth, then turn off the app and just go from there and do all the shading freehand. Could be a good learners tool. I just use a ruler tho
