That first image of the Morgan obverse reminded me of Barbara Stanwyck in the "Big Valley" TV series. She was a great beauty in early movies, and was still quite attractive in her 50s on the TV series, but she was showing her age a bit. So when the camera was on her, they would use bright and diffuse lighting, and maybe they put Vaseline on the camera lens. Then when the camera switched to one of the men, the lighting would be harsh and you could see the guy's pores and 5 o'clock shadow. I guess the same principle was used when photographing this coin. But still: let the buyer beware. If a coin looks MS67+ in an image, ain't NOBODY going to sell that coin raw.

My first thought was why would your customer want to buy $40 raw common date Au Morgan’s that say cleaned in the title ? I think it was a great idea for you to do this for a video for everyone and I appreciate that Another point id like to make is that many of these high volume sellers hide behind a 100 percent free return policy and just bank on the fact that 3/4 of people won’t utilize that so it’s a numbers game. Even when they do get negative feedback they’re able to have eBay take it down for them so their 98%-99.9% seller ratings are very misleading

I purchased a Morgan 1884-CC $480 and 1883-CC $511 both BU+++ and 10 other supposedly high grade uncirculated Morgan silver dollars. Each of them were all auction bids and I won them all. I racked up a bill of $1644 which is left on my ebay cart awaiting payment. It says in the listing that payment is due after 7 days of winning so I didn't pay and kept shopping for more coins to bid from this seller. Then I had to triple think what I was doing I was wandering Why are all the pictures of all the coins on this sellers ebay store look so good and brand new compared to other ebay sellers pictures selling Morgan silver dollars. I thought about google searching about this seller and search on KZbin. I was lucky I came to this KZbin video and I put a halt of paying Morgan Dealer and opened a dispute with Ebay customer service. Ebay says don't worry about it, they found it on my favor that I don't have to pay this seller and Morgan Dealer will be investigated.

Daniel, can I ask how you take your pictures for when you yourself list.....is it a Microscope with your phone attached? Or do you have an actual camera setup? The only argument I'd say for Morgan Dealar is this.....although the pics are altered, the customers must be happy overall if they are NOT returning the coins and actually leaving good comments with a 99.7% Positive reviews. I've read the reviews of the negative/nuetral ones of Morgan Dealer and those all say he immedietly refunded their money when they complained. I'm not saying what MorganDealer is doing is right....but clearly there isn't enough people upset for a 40 dollar coin to leave them unhappy enough to return it and then leave a bad comment......the customers seem pretty happy. Just my 2 cents, Thanks for the videos. I watch all of them!

I've sold coins on the flebay for over a decade. I've never manipulate my images for anything I've sold. It's just not worth the trouble of returns. Good pictures also protect the seller to prove any issues a buyer may raise, are existing. What this seller is doing is despicable, and possibly criminal. Everyone with an eBay account should report this seller. This seller has over 1300 listings and every single listing I've seen is manipulated in the same way. I've reported a dozen listings. Only 1290 to go... Everyone watching this video should report all listings with manipulated images. A return policy does not negate the need for accurate listings. It certainly does not remove liability from fraudulently presenting an item through manipulation of the images.

How about if I tell you after sales tax, the round cost $26.87 and there is NO SALES TAX on the Eagles. So for $0.24 more I could have had a sovereign coin over a generic round.

Best deal I seen for generic was 10 troy oz .999 fine silver bars direct from Pinehurst. Buy 1- 10 troy oz .999 fine silver bar for $241.00 + free shipping on orders over $199 I believe. Not sure on taxes but if Florida charges 6% tax, taxes on 1- 10 troy oz bar at $241.00 a peace. Thats 241×.06=$14.46tax + 241= $255.46÷10.97 ozs total = $23.29 pd per oz & if you didn't have to pay taxes it would cost only $21.97 per oz .999 fine silver, but silver has already went up .15C per oz since finishing this message so i think you did alright. yeah! he's been doing this for years, I dealt with him once & last time! Ebay basically looks the other way. You leave appropriate feedback & eBay will remove it at will. He will block you & continue scamming . With another big seller, "more reputable?" I won a beautiful Morgan! I studied high definition pic's & WON A DEAL! Well seller sent a different coin! I got eBay involved, I wanted it! I won it! I did a return. Like a finger print/one of a kind! Then watching his auctions.. there's MY Coin listed again! Exact nicks, marks, edge ding! again called him out & advise eBay, he'd raised reserve $ Because it was worth twice + what I won it at$. He canceled auction & sat on it awhile before relisting! In his case , super high definition photos but seller remorse for low selling price.

That looks like a different coin. I was told a long time ago that a picture is worth a thousand words and at the time, I was taking pictures of my work everyday. I was taking probably 20 pics a day and over time, realized that I could, take a picture at a different angle to not show the imperfections in my work. Looks like this person developed the same skill set.

Daniel, I've seen those too on ebay but it look too nice to be true. Great Video!

Pretty easy to tell how he did it as you cartwheel the coin and the automatic EV compensation goes up and down on the video. It's not easy getting a good picture of something like this, and is very similar to taking good pictures of jewelry to sell online. Still not an excuse.

💯 I appreciate the knowledge. I love them morgans and peace bucks. What would be an acceptable purchase price for a coin in that condition? 💯 thx.

Most of my Morgan dollars are from here. I'm just glad they're always real silver at this point. I'm done collecting after today. Im fed up with Coin dealers. I'm about done with this world. Might move to the hills and grow some potatoes... Cheers, always enjoyed your videos

You’re not alone on that, trust me.

You and I have discussed this before, but neither you nor I would ever buy a coin from a seller who posted images like that. He made that thing look like one of the modern Morgans. People need to learn that well before the Internet and digital photography, Miss November didn't even really look IRL like Miss November in the porn mags... Used car dealers used to put sawdust in worn out transmissions to muffle the noise for awhile, and they still use bondo to fill rust holes and then paint them over, which bubbles up and falls off six months later. Buyers need to be educated to recognize this obvious fraud. You're doing a good thing to help with that.

Wow! That's a big difference in quality. I'm not just a coin collector since I was 9-10 (and I'm 76)... it I've been a photographer since then also. I can say I honestly believe the seller had somebody sllightly Blur the surface to make it appear clean and smooth in Photoshop. Total manipulation. Also...China has been reproducing American coins that ARE sold as replicas really cheap. A couple bucks. Look very real! I would not be surprised if the con artists are having Chinese coin replica manufacturers making them illegally for underground dealers who con amateur collectors. Just for the heck of it I bought a couple. And they look and weigh the same as the real coins. Unreal. I bought a few out of curiosity legally and I was impressed.

Yeah, I've seen those fakes too, they call them "album fillers" but they're just flat out counterfeits. They don't have any markings on them to indicate they're fake, so I reckon those sellers are breaking the law against counterfeiting. I wonder how many buy them & then resell them as real coins on Ebay? What a scam.

Morgan Dealer pic's look like an eraser was used! Too blend & smooth! 😆

There is a BUNCH of those Sellers on E-Bay ! They even sell A.T. as natural also . This is why I only buy slabs on E-Bay . Some dealers play with the lighting and pic angles on them to make them more attractive . This also hurts honest dealers like yourself who sell raw coins...

This is like those phone apps people use on their pics to soften their looks, add color to or lighten the skin tone. Anyhow, thanks to videos like this I skip over these type of ebay listings.

The photos of the First 1889 are not the same coin….The Scratch of Original is Horizontal but the one you showed what you say you received the scratch is Vertical… how can you say they’re both the same coin when the scratch next to the ear is in different directions?

Around 2008, I purchased an 1878-S Morgan silver dollar from Morgan Dealer. At that time, they weren't manipulating the images in the same way they do now. The coin I received was close in overall looks to the one I received. However, I did notice that they had darkened the image a bit to "enhance" the natural toning on the coin. It wasn't as egregious as the manipulation they do now. But I think those early successes convinced them to further manipulate their images. Morgan Dealer has been on eBay since July 13, 2007. They have sold 361,000+ items.

eBay allows this and they need called out as well. Thanks for showing how some bad dealers manipulate their products.

Lets not forget Morgan Dealers compatriot, Auction King / Auction King Rare Coins. The two #1 photo deceptive dealers on Fleebay.

This eBay coin dealer has been well known to Reddit communities like r/numismatics and r/coins for a long time. EBay turns a deaf ear to this fraud because they still make their commissions on the sales that aren't returned by savvy buyers. This seller needs more exposure like this this to educate the public. Good job Daniel!

Yeah man i didn't think that way. Yeah ebay has to make there money profits too so they keep this guy in business. Otherwise this guy would of been gone a lone time ago.
