A few years back, My wife and I bought a unit in Nashville, which is about 140 miles from where I live. We found lots of great things, including a box with 70 indian head pennies from the late 1800's and some old silver coins from the same era. There was an old coat hanging across the arm of a chair in the unit. My wife found $2000,00 in the inside pocket of the coat. 20 One hundred dollar bills! Great day, great find, and a great adventure for sure.

As an accountant, I can't help but run the numbers. If the owner paid $100 a month for 35 years, that $42,000 just for storage costs. It's so easy to get a unit and suddenly it's 10 years later...speaking from experience. We had definitely paid more in storage fees that the value of the items we had in there.

J Bud Clark was a former mayor of Portland, Oregon from 1985 through 1992 and a graduate of Reed College. He was also a marine. I point that out because of the meticulous nature of the clothing you found. So neatly folded. If it turns out this was his storage unit, you have more than just a gold mine on your hands, you have an invaluable piece of Portland history. Those pictures alone would be an invaluable gift to the Portland Museum of Art. If you donate them, you might be able to cover the tax assessment for the items you sell. By the way, an interesting note of fact, in 1978, J Bud Clark tarred in a popular poster as a guy flashing a nude downtown statue, with the motto “Expose Yourself to Art.” Look it up' it's really cute. Check the Red Tab: Take a look at the right back pocket. Do you see our famous red tab? Is the word LEVI'S® in all capital letters, or does it have a small letter “e” instead? The Tab with LEVI'S (also known as “Big E”) means the jeans are from before 1971. Where the red Tab was considered a trademark of the 501®, the brand wanted to differentiate other kinds of Levi's® clothing - such as the fashion denim, like bell-bottoms and boot cuts, which came out in the 1960s. With that, the Levi's® orange Tab was used to set these apart

Before a unit is up for sale the owner of the units make endless calls to the owner/family because they do not want this to happen to anyone if it could be prevented. When a person has no interest in their personal items it is no longer viewed as personal items.

That Blind Faith album I saw, is a great find. It is what Cream became after they broke up. With Eric Clapton. Also the Ina-Gotta-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. Classic rare album.

I get a good laugh at you kids and how you feel about all of the things I grew up with. Wish I'd kept some things, but who's to know what the future gens would think. The albums aren't worth much so far. I would probably a couple of them but wouldn't pay more than 5 bucks for them. Some might be valuable but don't get too excited. Gotta check out part 2. Aloha for now.

Years and years ago I lived in the Portland area. My sister babysat for a radio personality. He told us that storing your vinyl albums with the plastic wrap on them can ruin them. The plastic wrap can shrink in the heat and warp the album. Just because the plastic is still on them doesn't mean they are new.

Hi again. The Genesis album, Nursery Cryme, (the one with decapitated heads). If it’s a first pressing original from 1971 , it’s rare. Again depends on condition, but could be worth about $150. By the way they are an English band .

you really have a good eye and I can tell you that most of the stuff in that time capsule is really decent - remember this is right at the tail end of when the USA still made clothes and clothing was quality, I would kill for a lot of that because most of it will never wear out compared to todays crap. everything in that locker is really also at the tail end of when things weren't crap. lots of those jackets have both a store tag and a makers tag - I am clothes collector and there are a lot of great vintage makers in there, eBay is calling...those Arrow Brigade New Old Stock shirts are bank.

First and last video of yours that I'll watch. 1. Complete lack of knowledge of almost every item. "Guys let me know if you know anything about it." Thought that a plastic album cover meant it was new. Can't even read a brand (Tony Lama boots) or group name (Iron Butterfly) correctly. Can't read a number correctly, 4301 is not "four thirty one". 2. Immediately wiped dirt, grime, and possibly mold (considering it was on a leather saddle bag) from the most disgustingly dirty item in the unit, onto hands, work gloves, and the table he then sat and sorted other boxes of stuff onto. Zero interest in keeping valuable items clean, especially vintage clothing. How hard is it to sit the dirty item on the ground and clean it with a rag so you don't get the sorting table, hands, and gloves all disgustingly dirty? Or get a box of 100 disposable gloves for $5 and change gloves once you get them grimy? 3. Said the motorcycle wasn't included with the unit, but then sort of implied he was going to take it. Left us hanging. 4. Said the unit had been paid for 35 years by the guy, didn't explain how/when he found this out. Sort of matters whether it was known when bidding or not. 5. Didn't explain whether the brother in law dude is his wife's brother, versus his sister's hubby. Apparently the woman was his wife, but if that's true, he sure didn't treat her with much respect. Not that it's cool to be rude to your sister, either. The unit was a nice score. How he presented it, how he treated the items, and how the 3 people interacted was a disaster. Not worth my time to ever watch another video by him. And I'd never, ever buy anything from someone who doesn't care if they get every item they find all grimy. I know there's a lot involved in going through a unit, a lot involved in making a video, that keeping things clean takes a little effort, that inserting corrections (via captioning or pausing the video to do a voice over) takes effort, and that showing prices of comparable items, or showing sold prices by waiting to release the video, takes effort. But with 100K+ subscribers, that's the sort of thing I expect to see, to fix any train wrecks that understandably happen on the day of opening the unit.

The reason the covers are so well designed are because they actually use to pay the graphic artists $6000 a cover for the top artists. It created a great group of masters of the genre. That Beatles album and the early Michael Jackson should bring you some big bucks!

Depends of which version of the Sgt Peppers album it is. Could be anywhere from $25 to several thousand! That circular wear mark on the back and name written of the front definitely doesnt help.

The one thing I hate..is when good clothes get SQUISHED back into a box after being properly folded or placed, and then smaheroo..sooo sad. Personally if something is old and smashed I won't pay much for it.
@19590 Жыл бұрын
They are limited on time while filming. They will unpack when they reexamine the item when they list it with great care and make the item more presentable before shipping. They will never ship anything that is unworthy to ship.
@EfficientRVer Жыл бұрын
@@19590 Stop defending their lack of care with the items. You have to admit that they're morons to squish it to begin with, and no amount of refolding fixes the fact that it was found pristine and now is rumpled and likely dirty/grimy too. The first thing they did was wipe a pile of disgusting, likely moldy, dust and dirt onto the table they then dragged every box across, and sat many items in. Then to top it off, the BIL was grabbing each designer suit still wearing the disgusting gloves he'd wiped the saddlebag off with. Pure stupidity grubbing up pristine items. I don't care whether they're filming or how much time they have. Wiping grime off a saddlebag and then handling fine clothing with those same disgusting work gloves, is ridiculous. They are not alone. Many storage unit buyers and thrifters/pickers will show their finds laid out on the floor at home with their pets walking, slobbering, and dripping snot on the clothing. One will grab a scrap grill, dump it sideways into his van getting grease on the van floor, then go through a box of clothing throwing each item onto the van floor after showing it. Would I buy from any of them? Nope.
