Unless you have a piece of wood furniture over 200 years old, there is little chance it's worth very much. "Brown" furniture today has little market value. I love it, but most consder it out of style. It goes for pennies at auction unless it's a famous maker (hint). So if painted furniture is your thing, paint away and make it into something you will love.

yes yes yes!!! everything you said!!! look for those makers marks, see if they are highly sought after unpainted, make an informed decision and anything else.....paint that sucker lol

Crazy that you are discussing this! I literally logged on to ask a question directly related to this topic. The piece is by Michael Amini. We bought it at a yard sale for $10. I want to paint it but I wanted to make an informed decision.

@@talishamccann2688 honestly even piece that are Vintage or antique has to be in too shape. Are you keeping it?
@talishamccann26882 жыл бұрын
@@BellaRenovare no plans to keep and it's not antique he is just a super expensive designer with TONS of detail. All of his company is based in Asia and all of the detail is done by hand. I've only learned any of this by researching since I've gotten this. I could easily be mistaken. This piece also has some marble on top and a couple of marble embellishments on the side

This piece is really gorgeous! For the last 22 years my design clients have told me that they want their family to use the furniture, and even if it is hot pink, it is still great grandma’s furniture. Not valuable items of course but every day furniture.

I love this combo, have these DA colors and was planning on utilizing them on a heavily ornate foyer table this weekend!! ☺️ My question is, are there any “rules” for colors that go from light to dark; beginning from the bottom of a piece or the top of a piece? If not “rules”, do you think it would not be pleasing to the eye starting from your darkest color at the top to light at the bottom? I ask because my table top is black shell or tortoise shell inlay which I hate to paint. TIA
@BellaRenovare2 жыл бұрын
There really aren't any rules, I think it's piece dependent and what vibe you want. There are NO rules, and if there are......DON'T follow them lol 😂😂😂❤️❤️

Yeah ,bought a wardrobe for my son ,massive wood , a hundred jear old ,got it for 50 € . It is just nothing special. If something is old it is not automatically worth a fortune . Normal everyday families were in need of furniture too . The pieces are almost always good quality woodwork ,but a farmer in germany wasn't in need of something fancy , means 2 doors ,if your lucky two drawers . So jes I painted it in Light and dark grey ,came out lovely !
