I really appreciate the GREAT reviews you gave on your Boat, Outboard and Talons - I recently purchased a 2022 Alumacraft 16 foot Prowler with a Honda 50hp outboard - Similar to your Crestliner, but a shorter and narrower boat. I'm having 10 foot Talons installed with the sandwich and tilt brackets and was concerned how much the added weight would affect the boat's performance - However after seeing your setup and how well your Merc 50 moved your boat, I'm more optimistic. A couple questions; My Honda 50 has a similar feature to the Mercs "command thrust" - How quick can you get on plane with a full fuel tank and did you go with the prop you have to help with improved hole shots?
@TackleJunky81
@TackleJunky81 2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the comment bud! To be honest with me fishing smaller lakes I never fill the tank up...usually keep it about a half tank or so. Gets up on plane quick with no problems at all. The dealership picked that prop for me and just said it was the best option...I have zero complaints.

Did the dealer say what speed a 90hp would do on the XF189?
@TackleJunky81
@TackleJunky81 3 жыл бұрын
I know the 179 was tested with a 90 and hit 41. I believe most dealers stock the 115 because not a huge price increase between the two. The 189 is about 100 to 150 lbs heavier than the 179.

I'm with you brother. Bought my first real boat this year, tracker Deep V hull. 16.5' x 7.25' and opted for the smaller 75HP Mercury motor on mine (As opposed to the 90). First day out doing break in I had her up at 5800rpm and 38mph into a 5mph wind, trimmed up about same as you. I wanted the wider boat vs longer because of wife and a 7 year old. Either way I'm very happy with my choice in boat and motor size.
