I think its really cool that with some well thought out changes, you can breath new life into an old game & make it a completely new experience. Simon's Quest is the perfect platform for this. It had many great features & had a great atmosphere but lacked polish- it really did feel like a great game that wasn't quite finished when it shipped- something that could have been fixed with an update/ hot fix today. These changes are a GREAT way to fix a game that was ALMOST a great game at the time. -So glad you have made this a much better experience for 1st time players. Great job!

I grew up playing Simon’s Quest, and I love that devs are so passionate about improving (and in some case, altogether recreating) the CVII experience in new and interesting ways, but I’d prefer it to not be at the expense of what made the game so awesome and unique in the first place. I’ve only come across a few random clips, but yours is the only version I’ve seen keep the essence of the original intact whilst making the necessary practical and subtle albeit intriguing stylistic changes (for example, I love seeing it storm outside the windows in the mansion, so simple but adds so much!); the bosses and side quests are a nice touch, I would love to see an entire walkthrough of somebody completing the game from start to finish, to watch the whole thing in its entirety. Only a true fan of the classic version would do the game this level of justice. Truly excellent work 🦇🧛♂️💪🏼

Some gripes I hear about games fall in a category that I'd call "Game Genie Gripes". Sometimes what players wish a game would do is something that would be possible using a Game Genie, and then the balance that makes the game fair is tipped in the player's favor. It seems like the Japanese versions of retro games were made easier than the American versions from what I've looked at. But there are games that get the challenge balance just right, and I tip my hat to the game makers that showed they had a knack for making games with a good balance of challenge and enjoyment factor.

If such laws didn't exist, or the property was in public domain, anyone could do anything with it. If he wanted to make a business from this, there are ways around it. Starting a patreon to support *him* as the creator and not the game itself. Charging for the game is only going to bring down legal issues upon the entire fan game community. @x570Belmont7 ай бұрын
@@Prolute Incorrect. Copyright is the life of the author + 70 years in the case of a singular creator, and for corporations it's 120 years after creation. The first Castlevania released in 1986, the birth of the franchise and thus the birth of the copyright. On an individual game case, Simon's Quest released in 1987. It has a LONG way to go before any of it falls into public domain. Elements of Castlevania take things from Bram Stoker's original Dracula novel due to Dracula being within public domain, as it was never registered. So yes, RG3 STOLE the intellectual property. He has NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to monetize off of it. All he's doing by charging is causing negative outlook towards the entire fangame community, and could potentially bring down Konami's copyright wrath on the entire scene all because he's a greedy criminal. Yes, he's a criminal. Yes, he broke the law. Yes, it's illegal. I don't care how much you feel it isn't, too bad. The law doesn't give two wet farts about your feeling. While the the romhacks like Retranlation done by bizqiwt and Redaction done by the Almighty Guru improve the game tenfold and the fan retranslation adds some quality of life improvements like the map feature and the SRAM saving function allowing you to save anywhere in the game its just a 1:1 improvement of the game. Your version of the game takes what everyone else did and you add your own twist to it and add even more stuff to it making it its own game in a sense while keeping the graphics the same as the NES original. I played a little bit of your remake back when you offered the game for free and you did a very good job on it I never completed it yet. Yeah I hated the password system in both Simon's Quest and Caslevania 3 because if you messed up your password then you were screwed and had to start over again. That sucked that happened to me so many times as a kid. I am looking forward to purchasing your games because I am very interested in the CV3 remake that you have done on top of TMNT1. I play a lot of CV2 randomizer which randomizes the location of the items and the enemies and their health pool on top of prices for the items and 100% heart drops and dbl the amount of hearts given from the enemies. Also the day and night transitions are instant no pop up box it just switches it. I like Caslevania 2 Revamped because it was just a simple 1:1 remake with a tiny bit of a twist it upgraded the graphics while adding a some quality of life features like being able to lvl up beyond LVL 6 and making the trek through Dracula's castle a tiny bit more challenging like adding disappearing and reappearing ghosts. On top of making the ring actually do something. It makes your whip do more dmg at the cost of using hearts. Also Castlevania 2 revamped also had a save feature at each church similar how you stared off with your version of the game.
