Hey Cody Thank you so much for this video. I'm in College right now and am confronted with this issue/dilemma on the daily, with most of my friends going out and getting 'wasted' regularly. My trying to justify my abstinence always seems to come across as snobbish and exaggerated, but I see and feel the same effects on my training and on my vision. Please spread this message of dedication to the sport entailing living an abstinent lifestyle. LOVING THE VIDS, btw.

domihof97 I'm in the exact same boat as you. What I do is remind myself that if you stay dedicated, make those sacrifices, and work to be the best I can be every day, the out come of that would be worth it. I always think to myself I'd rather have my old college friends come up to my kids and say that I was dedicated and hard working in college instead of telling them how much I chugged on a random Saturday night

@@h2owl205 and @domihof97: I've been out of college for almost 28 years. I didn't drink at all in college because I prioritized my training, my sleep, nutrition, weight (for sport), etc. I have *zero* regrets. I'm remain glad that I made the decision to focus on training and health. I had a much better college experience than most other adults I know, who look back at their college years and laugh regretfully about how "stupid" their behavior was in college.

Cody I know you are working super hard to do these videos and post as many as you can a week. You should know that even though your not getting the amount of views that you’d like to have with these, you really are changing so many peoples lives in ways you wouldn’t believe... thanks so much, the views will come in time for you👍🏻👍🏻

my dad has trouble with alcohol its been a long time and when I was young I saw alcohol as something dangerous and scary because of him and still today. I’m in high school and alot of people come and say to me that I am boring and a weird person because I don’t want to drink and go to parties. Thank you for talking about that topic, it made me feel less alone...
@Redmoto0576 жыл бұрын
I don't drink alcohol. I've watched too many of college teammates drink way too much. And it honestly scares me. I never really wanted to drink even before that. I'm glad you mentioned this as well, Cody. I hope you can add more insight on college swimming such as the recruitment process. 😊

These vlogs are awesome. Please keep doing them... The tips and advice is great and relatable. And i like 'how' you approach these videos.. Even though you are an Olympic athlete you are so down to earth.... you come across like we are on the same page. Not, like your manner is someone who thinks better of themself

When you say drinking? Do you mean just having a beer or two or getting pissed fcked drunk?
@thejuniorseas76835 жыл бұрын
Most likely the former. Also, if your going to drink and you're a swimmer, do it in the off season.

Do you think, that somebody who has 54 on 100 free (long course) at 18 years can make it at olympics?
@joaoseixedopinheiro793 жыл бұрын
i think its possible but its hard, cause i am 15 and thats my time and there is people telling me that its not good enough to go to the olympics. my advice would be never give, train more, train when other are resting and commit yourself that you are going to make it.

Thanks for being honest with us again, good video!! :) I got a question : I'm 15 years old now and I practise 4 times a week for 1 hour. I beat people who are able to train so much more than me and i went to the nationals last year. I want to swim more than i do now so i have to leave my team. My teammates are often mean to me because im faster so i really dont mind leaving. BUT i have to travel longer to the pool then. And its impossible with school my parents told me. Im a little bit sad about the word impossible cause everything is possible. What can I do to swim more... :( ??

Karlee Loyd if you really want to you'll make it, it wasn't until december last year that I got a shit load of confide in the sport, when I qualified nationals and now I'm going to nationals in a week from now and then going to compete in Italy 3 months after that.
