As a 19 year old I can tell you the pit bike market is definitely on fire right now. You could probably get 2-3k for that thing, it being a Honda with genuine BBR parts. Spiff it up a little and get some plastics on it and you should be able to sell it quick.

I think they paid a proper retail price, but with Jake’s mechanical mechanic’ing prowess, he’ll come out ahead if he decides to sell or replace any pony in the stable due to this 3 bike deal. I’m just happy that Jen’s Garage is uploading videos more often. do us all a big favor & get active on our side of things (subscribing, commenting, liking) so JG’s monetary gains increase. I believe they’re seated over a gold mine, but are working hard at farming the soil, instead of classifying it. but, maybe I just see what I wanna see, since I like who they are. I believe they’re 100% good genuine Californian folks. so many love to watch uploads from this earnest, honest, entertaining & positive family’s channel. more exposure to fellow home mechanics, dirtbikers, 2-wheelin enthusiasts will bring new subs. let’s help get’em there. Lord Vader, Jesus/Jehovah, Allah, Buddha, Poseidon, Ozzy Osbourne & the Deity of Your Choice all know that they’ve been working hard & hustling to promote their family’s well-being over the years. if KZbin could be their full time (and fool time) job, then we’d all win. Honda 50 name = Bieber (BBR) -it’s small, cute, muscly, chicks want their turn with it, young dudes think it’s cool, it gets around, etc

I think that you are underestimating the pit bike. It runs and is a Honda. So I would not be able to find another one like it for less than $1,500, but that may be because so many people ask too much for old bikes. Thanks for the video! I’m looking forward to learning about older Gas Gas bikes.

I’d say a very good deal. In commieville a street legal 2 stroke is worth at least twice the value of same bike not street legal. The other two bikes are strong bikes with a little TLC. I hope you can find parts for the hard times bike. It’s probably a great single track weapon. I have 9 bikes and have followed in your footsteps. It’s been really fun to put older bikes to good use.

Think hard times will make plenty in youtube revenue so count that in your deal. Not sure on the pit bike, not so popular over here. But think between the other two you've made out OK if you do all the vids for hard times in a full rebuild series.😊 looking forwards to regular videos from you again.

Four grand was what I was thinking was a decent, but upper end of what I'd expect it all to cost. Plus you get a slight ROI whenever you make videos featuring them, and in fun repairing, and then riding them. So as long as you don't sink too much into their repair, you'll come out ahead in the end.

Pit bikes are indeed a hot commodity. Perhaps that has an 88cc cylinder? And a race head with big valves. Those kits are usually sold with a cam. My 88, which is probably very similar to yours, easily hits 50 mph, and is a blast. Should have a 19mm carb as well. For the size, that bike will surprise you. Its got a ton of good parts- probably more than you have noticed. And, you got a street legal 2 stroke! Id say you came out on top. The pit bike could bring 500, or it could bring 2000. Get a good inventory of the aftermarket parts, and seek out pitbike clubs in the area. Im in central KY, and we have a big meet called Dude Date ( not the website- thats a meeting place, probably not your cup of tea. Dude Date used to have a Facebook page. Last event I attended was in 2016, but I imagine there is still a strong following. Might be able to link up with some folks who are closer.

8:01 Watch out for those aftermarket gas cap breather check valves. The steel bearing and spring inside will rust and seize in place, blocking air from being able to be drawn into the top of the tank, vacuum locking the fuel from flowing out the bottom and creating a lean condition. I ran one just like that as well as one shaped like a die (1 piece of a pair of dice lol) and nearly locked my YZ125 up on a jump face at an MX track.

Your enthusiasm and way of being reminds me of the boss I had when I was 18. He thought me everything I know about machining, lathe, milling. I loved the guy and I even got to thinking of him as a second dad. His wife used to come into the shop during hot days and give us gatorades and popsicles, around Christmas she’d take the time to ask every employee what our plans were for the long break. Anyways, you and your wife remind me of my late boss and his wife. Wonderful people with tons to teach young people. Not bad at all. A two-stroke, street legal dual sport with clean title is a pretty desirable bike. I'd peg the blue Gas Gas at $2.8k-$3.5k, conservatively. Your valuation of the xr50 is spot on. Not taking the DMV fees into account, the black Gas Gas is probably around $800-$1k in its current condition.

I've bought & sold many bikes over the years & the lasting memory is not the cost, but the adventure & the thrill of buying a bike. I agree with you going 'cold turkey' after a few days but that's natural after the high of a road trip (junk food, maybe even a hotel stop over) Bikes for me are a passion & that rarely coincides with profit. I could never scrap or dismantled a bike & sell it off as spares. One thing I've noticed is the longer you keep a bike the more chance it becomes rare & worth more (like any collection). Don't get hung up on costs. Although I don't think you would lose much on resale, especially if you get them running. Why not restore the XR50 to original (CRF50 ?) sell the BBR bits off & keep it indoors as an art installation. It will probably be worth a fortune when you retire as a standard mint monkey (mini) bike is worth now. Next bike you buy (& we all know you will) why not try & ride it home ? $50 moped from Alaska ?? Your lovely wife could follow in a pickup/camper full of Duct Tape, cable ties & WD40. Anyway great vid keep at it.

You got a good deal on the bikes. No doubt about it. I am from North Dakota and here you could get 1800 or more for the non running gas gas, 1200 for the pit bike, and closer to 3000 for the blue gas gas. Bike market is over priced up here but they are a good buy. Also the milky oil could be from a head gasket too. Not sure where others are getting their prices, but I think you got a great deal. Not so 5-8 years ago, but today prices are crazy. Doing several different searches within 1000 miles of my home (central US) the cheapest Crf50 I see (a 2003) is $1100, and several are in the 1200-1500 range, I don't see any 2000-2005 250-300cc bikes for less than $2500, with most being in the 3000-4000 range. More than I would pay, but my sweet spot is vintage MX/dual sport. The worse the condition the lower the price the better for me. Yes full rebuilds of motor, chassis, everything is in order but I do that anyway. I'd rather build them back the way I want them than pay for parts I'm going to take off anyway. Kind of a resto-mod sort of thing. It's just my way, it's not for everyone. For reference pre-pandemic I paid 600 usd for 2 XR500s and an XR250. All 3 bikes for that price. Lots of work of course, but I like them that way. Around 500 usd and a century of labor 🤪added to each after, but light and fast and fun.

I live in Canada, so the market prices probably dont match well, but that'd be a smokin deal up here! A stock xr50 wont go for under $1000 Canadian even if it looks like hard times there.

Very cool, the big two strokes are very fun on the street. I have a KTM 250 EXC street legal, with supermoto wheels, extended gearing. Supermotos can be huge fun. Id make that blue gas gas a street supermoto since its in such good shape, for an old bike!
