"Building a library of possibilities brings me joy." YES you put it in words! 🥰🌟

I learned that I binge books when I'm having the roughest mental health times, burning through KU series especially during those times. I also *suspected* that I'm buying way more books than I'm reading. I've set up my own bingo board for the year, and already after one month I'm seeing where my strengths and weaknesses lie! I might do a six-month wrap on it, and then make a second half of the year bingo board using what I've learned to improve it!

Ironically, I learned not to set goals. I don't deal well with pressure and even setting a reading goal made me feel like I was constantly chasing something. It took the joy out of reading. So I set a modest eight book priority TBR for the year and that's it. It felt great.

I learned that I need to slow down my reading and really focus. Reading has become such a habit for me - which isn't necessarily bad - but I stopped being intentional about it. And it started to make me anxious if a book took too long to finish. I love a chunky fantasy, but I found myself avoiding them in 2023 because I knew they would take me more than just a couple days to finish. If a book I was liking took more than a week or so to finish, I'd get bored even if literally nothing was wrong with the book! So for 2024, I challenging myself to slow down. If I read 10 books in a month, I need to fill that time in with a different activity - like listening to a podcast - to reset myself some. And I'm really taking time to question why I want to DNF a book I was just loving.

Good on you for learning so much from this and taking it into the new goal setting. It's so good to know and accept that not doing things you don't feel like/want to do. If I have to do something I don't feel like it takes so much energy and more time than if I felt like it.

⭐ I think your prize should be a date to the seaside and a lovely wee ice cream , musselburgh and Lucas comes to mind 😊 x I realised I struggle buying just one book at a time, so end up adding random books that I'm not really that excited to read, so note to self, it's ok to just buy the one your excited about x

I think the funniest thing about KZbin audiences is it how much we genuinely love seeing the KZbinrs' spouses or partners. There's 3 youtubers off the top of my head that I can recall dozens if not hundreds of their comments are just praising the partner or asking for more of the partners. I think it's a combination curiosity and wanting to know what their relationship is like but also happiness for them and wanting to experience that happiness with them both. I love Lovely Spouse Harry for no other reason than Lovely Spouse Harry *is* lovely

❤⭐️📚❤️. Enjoyed very much, as always!! I read 148 books in 2023, I want to slow my roll, so I'm looking at 80-100 this year, maybe enjoy bigger books, taking my time...

⭐️ I learnt that bingo boards aren’t for me. Once I “have to” do something, I become anxious and resentful. No matter if it’s spring cleaning or a really good book. So this year’s plan is a vague (but absolutely not compulsory!) commitment to keep plugging away at my many part-finished series.

🌟 i learned that i really do know my taste in books and are getting quite good at picking them. that i barely read kindle books and really don’t like to. and that i need to eat into my tbr on audio so that’s my big goal for this year, not buy so many books and use different reading challenges per month to help me get through the backlist. by the way, i think 50% is really good considering. congrats on completing two lines ❤

I'm gonna try the bingo board for 2024 but gonna put my own goals. Regarding 2023 my only goal was to read the amount or more that i've put on goodreads. I love reading and i've noticed i haven't been reading as much as i did (between battling my mental health problems and keeping up with my phd this last few years have being a challenge), so that was my only goal. My goal was in 12 books and i've reached 27 so i was really proud. Now i'm going to try to reach other goals beside the goodreads challenge. TBR veterans will definetely be on my bingo board, a reread too because when i was younger i would reread alot and now i don't do it anymore. Nonfiction will also be there (is one of my favourite genera so have to do it). I'm also thinking about a square for scary books in the sense of books i didn't try as a teenager because i thought were too difficult. One for national authors. I'm portuguese and i think there are good authors but don't read enough from them, so i think i should fix that. I also want to tackle my impulse buys (i tend to read lots of reviews before buying books but sometimes when i go to a book shop, something catches my eye and i buy it without looking for the reviews, so i want to check if are books that i like or is something i have to stop doing). And i want a square for classics. I like to read them and i haven't being doing it, so i should restart that. Regarding rewards i suggest something that has nothing to do with books, like a small trip, or new supplies for another hobby or if you are a foodie a very nice meal, etc.

🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️ I love watching videos about goals because they motivate me. 2023 was a weird year for me because i just came back to reading after a hiatus so I only read about 10 books. I have quickly gotten addicted to reading again though and already hit 10 books by today lol. I’m tracking my reading for the first time this year, so I don’t have any huge goals. It’s a “learning year” for me and I will try goal setting next year. I’m looking forward to hearing you discuss non-fiction too! I enjoy nonfiction.

Last year was the year that brought me back to reading after my ADHD kept me from it for many, many years. And what I have learned is to be more skeptical of synopses and new releases! There were numerous 2023 releases that were highly anticipated for me based on synopses that I did not like and felt duped by. *sigh* So I'm trying to be more particular and learn the pitfalls...

⭐⭐⭐I'm so excited to try the bingo board challenge for myself. My main goal for 2024 (other then getting through my physical tbr!) is to read more SCI-FI AND HORROR as I kept wanting to last year and inevitably read mostly Fantasy instead. Thinking that if I manage to complete at least one bingo at the end of the year I will let myself buy this expensive special edition set of a book I really want!
@josie89979 ай бұрын
I learned that even though I own plenty of lesbian fiction (I read mostly older queer fiction), I have read far more by gay, male writers about gay, male characters and I want to change that. I'm also doing a bingo for 2024 and dedicated a square to that. I've also realize just how many books I've bought and haven't read (I'm the kind of person to read less when I'm not doing well mentally and I've not been doing well over the past couple of years) so my main goal for the year is to read what I own and unhaul. For me, each completed row of bingo will be permission to buy books ~20-30€s worth of books, I think (that's usually the free shipping limit and one book felt like too little for a whole row), but we'll see about that. First bingo is definitely A WHILE off.

I want to read more books that I find on my own. I definitely fell into the hype train a lot in 2023, but I learned that I often like things that the algorithm doesn't pick up. Like the Glass Alliance series. It's one of my faves and no one ever mentions it. 🥰

I can't buddy read bc I read so much faster than most people. I would either get annoyed that the other person is making me wait around when I've been done for days or weeks or they'd get annoyed that I didn't follow their pace. Buddy reads always sound fun but in practice I think they'd be impossible and frustrating for me
