People keep on commenting that Drake is still popular internationally, but what they seem to fail to understand is the American music market predicts trends, so if an American based musician/rapper is popping internationally and not popping back home, it simply means his/her time is running out. Reminds me of Fifty, he was popular internationally but wasn’t popular anymore in the US market, we all know how that story ended. Culture predicts popularity. What Drake needs to do is make a comeback in the States, lest his fire burns out.

@Josephchomba884 сағат бұрын
Be specific, where in Europe? lol Either way, it seems the American music market predicts the trends, so if an American based musician/rapper is popping internationally and not popping back home, it simply means his/her time is running out. @ Amsterdam bro. And I traveled to Mexico and the Carribean in summer and heard mad Drake playing there too lol. I think there’s some correlation between US and other markets in terms of music but people gotta stop overestimating US influence lol. ‘Culture’ doesn’t dictate what the entire world likes. Even if Drake’s popularity drops, doesn’t necessarily mean Kendrick will win overseas as well.
@thedon05163 сағат бұрын
It doesn't have to, Kendrick is American first, all of there countries and continents is secondary, they don't matter.

This whole beef started because of Kanye. Drake had to cancel a song he had with Metro Boomin and French Montana because it had a Kanye diss in it. Kanye went straight to J Prince to get Drake to stop dissing him.

Hip hop version of MAGA would be those who say “bring back lyrical rap” or what hip hop was in the past so to speak. It’s a very good comparison tbh. Drake fans was with the new school in 2010s heavy on melodic rap. Like democrats who cater to “new social norms”

I dont think its anything to do with culture i think the trap/melodic rap era is just over. Its the artsy fartsy era now. People wanna see polish, presentation, artistry. Look at the people who have been praised the last few years: denzel curry, jid, baby keem, tyler the creator, kendrick lamar, travis scott, carti are in and roddy ricch, drake, lil baby, polo g are out. I know its not culture cos baby keem, carti and travis are yap rappers. The people just tired of spinz 808 lex lugar clap tastes have changed.
