Finally someone understands that this isn’t entirely a Drake dis! It may be an extension of Kendrick’s hate for him, but it’s not about Drake since he’s more of a representation of what he hates about everyone within the industry AND the community, I feel he’s just angry/disappointed with those kind of people having platforms cause they have no self-respect/morals-they’re just greedy and insecure.

@@TWJCole to radio, yeah. But it was before 2020. He's been having lyricism on the radio since 2012. When they were playing "Alright" amongst absolute trash mumble rap. I remember hearing that song on hip hop radio and thinking, this man is on a whole nother level. The production of the track and his delivery, it just gave me hope. In 2010-11 Eminem was played more on the pop channels, in Chicago, but those singles off recovery were more poppy and polish, made for the average listener. I haven't listened to much hip hop on the radio recently, but I just remembered that time being pivotal for me. I remember where I was and everything. Of course there's plenty of great lyricism and there has been and will be, but not at this level. Besides Cole and weezy. But still, Kendrick has a way of doing it differently. Using other influences than avg hip hop beats and choosing jazz and funk and even tracks like this. This all is why he's top 2 of all time for me.

Always Kenny glazing 🍩 The song was straight 🗑️🗑️🗑️🗑️ per usual. He can’t make woke music that sounds good. He is NOT appeasing to the ear. His voice sounds terrible! Nas, Mos Def, and Common could make woke music that sounds good. Kendrick can’t do that. He makes music that is boring and puts you to sleep 💤😴🥱 NyQuil music

The thing I have w Kendrick music is that it festers lol like when I first heard the song I was like okay cool I like it but then as time went on the lyrics popped in my head and I start questioning what he meant so I have to go back and listen to it and the cycle repeats 😂 he’s amazing idk how anyone can think otherwise

Maybe "watch the party die" also references those hollywood parties of michael rubin and the sorts? Because everything Kdot stands for is the exact *opposite* of what these people celebrate in those parties.

I have no idea what dude is gonna do at the bowl and I’m excited as fuck lol. It feels like there’s an industry war going on, the corrupt side whose shit hasn’t been fully exposed yet, and his side that is trying to dispose of it. Do not be surprised if he does some wild shit at the bowl where he knows millions of eyes will be watching.

For Kendrick to talk this spiritually and to watch the react community have this heavy conversation about what the music means to us a listeners as a culture and not just an endless pleasure palace... this is how we beat them. This is revolutionary.

Knox, I love your breakdowns! You peel back every layer, every line and you just get it. This is Kendrick's deep evaluation of the current state of Rap culture and why it needs needs to be torn down and rebuilt. As a GenXer, Kendrick's skillset takes me back to a time when lyricism and a message was a priority.

It's hard to be that successful and still stay authentic. Kendrick doesn't has fans, he has a tribe and as long as he stays himself, we'll be loyal. True messages are rare. 👌🏾❤

My favorite line of the song is “the more visible you get, the more your spiritual is tried.” And everybody wanna know why Kendrick doesn’t post on social media or stays silent at times. Just look around what’s going on in our society. He’s alienating himself from all that.

This song more or less was Jeremiah 23:1-2: “Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the LORD. Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the LORD.” He’s basically calling out EVERYONE in the industry for selling a toxic lifestyle to their own. Drake is just the culmination of all of those ideals in one and is a transplant into the culture. “Always rapping like you trying free the slaves.” Proved he’s not for us. And the machine backs him, so fuck em all and they mama.

I love the fact that Kendrick used the old black forces. As watching this video and understanding more how the industry forces certain agenda's, like having new clean shoes yet we all can't afford new ones every week(subconsciously getting us to buy more to feel apart of it but were just pushing our own self away). All the mainstream rappers think they need new whips, clothes, shoes to have an impactful meaning or attention and they go about harmful ways to acquire such things that don't even guarantee happiness or leaving a lasting legacy.
