Let me just say this ! Cash Money was the first southern label to co headline an arena tour with New York artists (Ruff Ryders/Cash Money tour 1999) ! After that the most significant moment was probably Jeezy and rightfully so Ludacris was a good bridge between both moments 💯…prior to that southern artists would be hit and miss in the NY marketplace !

If you want to count the massacre by 50 cent our last hurrah that’s cool ! Looking back at that album the shit sounds nothing like New York smh..some of the sonics on that album definitely cater to the southern markets 💯

Not from NY but I’m from the east coast (PA) and I agree that Jeezy was the first southern rapper to truly get love from the east. We liked Cash Money, No Limit, & OutKast but we loved Rocafella, Ruff Ryders, & Bad Boy more. Jeezy was the first time I seen a southern rapper’s clothing being worn on the east. Master P opened the door for the South in NY... I"m Bout It movie was popular with NY hustlers back in the day! Roc A Fella tried to emulate the formula with "Streets Is Watching" movie and soundtrack, even tho that was more of a musical! Same idea... It was also No Limit who first started collabing with NY rappers. ODB, Big Pun, Jay Z were all on no limit releases.... His group Kane & Abel were from the Bronx!

Southern singers and entertainers were always amongst the very best of giftedness around the globe . Well, when Southern wrappers were offered a level playing field, then Southern charm placed the game on lock downs from dusts to diamond's, and No refunds or No returns.

T.I. paved the way for TRAP MUSIK. Then Jeezy took that and flipped it. I was in middle school/high school at the time. I'm not even a street guy but that Era was UNREAL when Jeezy hit. Thug Motivation 101 then 102 : The Motivation. YIKES...😵😵 I was in Indianapolis staying at the same hotel as Jeezy at a Family Reunion. Took pictures in front of his tour bus on that 101 Tour. A moment in time fasho.

Nah, it happened long before Jeezy... Dungeon Family brought depth through the lyrics that everyone was complaining about our music being "Bama" or too simplistic... they were the lyrical proof that their is a lot of substance and knowledge in our music. Dungeon Family broke us out of all the Gangster vibes... The folks that started recognizing us because of Jeezy were literally THE LAST non-south people to check for us. Go peep those Big Gipp interviews, he even reminded me of stuff I forgot about... south was headed to domination a long time before Jeezy ever touched the mic. If Jeezy the reason why NY feel us, then that is just SAD, like WTF do ya'll think about us...? Even though we were ignored, we had our hand in the pot since 1994... I'm not even gonna do "honorable mentions" too many south cats originated things in Hip-Hop... this comment is already long enough. Just research, I spit all facts, no hate but the south ain't that infatuated with Young Jeezy.

Geto Boys set it off for everyone in terms of respect. Luke and them set it off in terms of the hits. Jermaine Dupri almost did it (beats were especially hitting), but he was looked at as a novelty.

@@deegee2874 goodie mob could go anywhere bruh b/c they had substance & god in a gr8 number of trackz & waz spittin barz too while still having a gritty gutta type persona but wasn't gettin da accolades mainstream but it paid off being able 2 go 2 foreign territory & get embraced from being thorough, around dat time da gangsta rap waz winning & they got overlooked juz like OutKast so ion't blame him 4 having a bitter taste b/c they didn't deserve getting looked @ sidewayz like they didn't belong wen they actually were ahead of da times, north & west coast fickle fanz of music held trap & gangsta rap one trick ponies w/ no versatility on a pedestal but da in da streetz they were a cult following & were more critically acclaimed & folk made sure they gave them praise weneva they came 2 their state &/or city reason why u can't find 1 story where they got ran down on & no matter how hard u try 2 I guarantee u WON'T while da otherz knew they had 2 walk on egg shellz AND check-in w/ som1 & da ones who didn't u'll find @ least 1 story about them gettin ran down on whether it waz successful or nah 😂 but g-mob waz different so I'd have resentment towardz ppl too even if it iz 1 of ya favorite rapperz or label head he acknowledge do shady business or got a shady personality.
