Then it starts to wane until the end of the month, until it appears like the old dried curved date stalk. Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "This is the original stem (which connects the bunch of dates to the tree).'' The Arabs have a name for each set of three nights in a month, according to the phases of the moon. They call the first three nights Ghurar; the next three nights Nufal; the next three nights Tusa` (nine) -- because the last of them is the ninth. The next three nights are called `Ushar (ten) -- because the first of them is the tenth. The next three nights are called Al-Bid (white) -- because of the light of the moon which shines brightly throughout these three nights. The next three nights are called Dura`, the plural of Dar`a', because on the first of them the night is dark from the moon rising late. Dar`a' refers to the black sheep, i.e., the one whose head is black; the next three nights Zulam; then Hanadis, then Da'adi; then Mihaq, because of the absence of moonlight at the beginning of the month. Abu `Ubayd did not recognize the names Tusa` and `Ushar, in the book Gharib Al-Musannaf. ﴿ لَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ يَنۢبَغِى لَهَآ أَن تُدۡرِكَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ ﴾ (It is not for the sun to overtake the moon,) Mujahid said, "Each of them has a limit which it does not transgress or fall short of. When the time of one comes, the other goes away, and when the time for one to prevail comes, the time of the other ceases.'' `Ikrimah said concerning the Ayah, ﴿ لَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ يَنۢبَغِى لَهَآ أَن تُدۡرِكَ ٱلۡقَمَرَ ﴾ (It is not for the sun to overtake the moon,) this means that each of them has its time when it prevails. So it is not appropriate for the sun to rise at night. ﴿ وَلَا ٱلَّيۡلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّہَارِ‌ۚ ﴾ (nor does the night outstrip the day.) means, after night has passed, it is not right for another night to come until it has been day. The authority of the sun is during the day and the authority of the moon is at night. Ad-Dahhak said, "The night does not depart from here until the day comes from here -- and he pointed to the east.'' Mujahid said: ﴿ وَلَا ٱلَّيۡلُ سَابِقُ ٱلنَّہَارِ‌ۚ ﴾ (nor does the night outstrip the day.) "They seek one another rapidly.'' The meaning is that there is no gap between night and day; each of them follows the other with no interval, because they have been subjugated and are both constantly pursuing one another. ﴿ وَكُلٌّ۬ فِى فَلَكٍ۬ يَسۡبَحُونَ ﴾ (They all float, each in an orbit.) means, night and day, the sun and the moon, all of them are floating, i.e., revolving, in their orbits in the heaven. This was the view of Ibn `Abbas, `Ikrimah, Ad-Dahhak, Al-Hasan, Qatadah and `Ata' Al-Khurasani. Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and others among the Salaf said, "In an orbit like the arc of a spinning wheel.''

@Sage By Dr. Zakir Naik : Your question is like a Christian missionary to the Koran. And there are several places in the Quran, where Allah says He created the heavens and the earth in 6 days. What he said came from [QS. 41:9-12], he said the Quran says the earth and the heavens were created in 8 days, but those words are not in the Quran. What the Qur'an says is that Allah created the heavens and the earth, and those who disagree about this are those who commit shirk. And the verse continues that God created the earth in 2 days and God created supports on the earth, mountains and others in four days. And (Surah Fusillat 41:11), "Tsumma", most translations mean "after", but it means more than that. Then God created the sky in two days. Now, normally a person reads two plus four plus two equals? Eight. But the word "eight" is not there. God created the sky in two days. If he understands the Qur'an, he can answer it, if someone has bad thoughts, then he will misunderstand. And the Quran says that those who try to mislead others with this verse are those who associate partners with God. So God already knows that people will use this verse to mislead others. The answer to that question. The answer is that God created the earth in two days, then created its supports for trees, mountains, and all kinds of things in four days. "Tsumma" in Arabic also means "simultaneously." It doesn't have to mean "after." It can mean "after" or "together". Simultaneously God created the sky in two days. For example, if I told you: I will build a building 30 floors high in 6 months. That's my statement. In detail I told that I would erect the basement, the foundation of the building in 2 months, and the structure in 4 months, i.e. a total of 30 floors. Along with that when I erect the foundation, I will also erect a fence around the building within 2 months. So basically, as I set up the foundation, I also put up a fence around the building. That doesn't mean 4+2+2= 8 months. This means that as I build the foundation, at the same time I also build the fence of the building. So actually my building will be built in 6 months, not 8 months. So so Allah said: When He created the earth, He also created the heavens. So along with creating the earth, at the same time God also created the sky. That is why Allah says in the Qur'an in Surah Al-Anbiya [21:30], "And do the disbelievers not know that the heavens and the earth were once one unit, then We separated them between the two." So Allah says that Allah created the earth and the sky at the same time. "Then we separated the two." This is the process of the Big Bang. Today's Big Bag theory says that the entire universe was once one major nebula. Then there is the split that creates the galaxy, the stars, the planets, and the earth where we live. So based on the Big Bang, science is even in line with the Koran, namely when the sky was created, the earth was also at the same time, so the first two days and the last two days happened simultaneously.

Then He directed Himself to the heaven while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, “Come (into being), willingly or by compulsion.” They said, “We have come willingly.”} [Quran 41:9-11] The verse in Soorah An-Naazi‘aat (no. 79) proves that Earth was spread out after the creation of the heaven; Allah says (what means): {Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it.} [Quran 79:27], and then Allah says (what means): {And after that He spread the earth.} [Quran 79:30] These verses prove that the spreading of the earth was done after the creation of the heaven. Ash-Shinqeeti  wrote: “Ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with him, was asked about reconciling the verse in Soorah Fussilat and the verse in Soorah An-Naazi‘aat, and he answered that Allah first created Earth without it being spread out, and then He created the heaven and made them seven heavens in two days, and then He spread out Earth after that and created in it mountains and rivers and so forth. So the creation of Earth was before the creation of the heaven, but its spreading out with mountains and trees and so forth was after the creation of the heaven. The evidence for this is that Allah says (what means): {And after that He spread the earth} [Quran 79:30], and He did not say ‘created it’.

This assumes that the person must be illiterate, unable to read or write. This is indeed the case of the prophet Muhammad who could neither read nor write. God put His words in his mouth. This is why the Koran is full of injunctions to do or not to do such as: read, say, get up, pray, invoke, sacrifice, chant, take, consecrate, do not be, do not make yourself 'advocate of…, do not grieve, do not be distressed, etc. The only imperative "Say" is repeated 333 times in the Koran.

See this is what confuses me, how can you have a debate if you won't let the man answer his question. Then confirms he hasn't read the Quran, I've been reading the Quran because of my mate from work who is Muslim and im a catholic. I'm loving the read so much, this video just shows another person who is not ready to accept Islam. I hope he one day reads the Quran so he has a better understanding. The patience of this man. It bothers me so much, even as a non-muslim, when people are saying there are different Qur'ans. That shows me those people didn't do proper research. There is one source, one book, that's it. The beauty of it, is that it is written in such a way that it can be memorized completely. Even people trying so hard to destroy, by either: burning it, ripping it, shredding it, or whatever. They will never succeed. It's the beauty of it, even when you read from the book out loud, and you make one single slip up, all those who have memorized the Qur'an, men women and even children will stand up as one, and point out the slip up, and correct it.

@@aak9042 Well you know...I'd like to see it as each to their own..We can't disprove the existence of God..even if loosely termed we call /him/it "phenomena". The guy seems have found strength in belief through his faith and in reality is thriving from it "spiritually speaking"..I just don't like the concept of religion or religious faiths as created by man..This is where all the negatives come in people questioning.God's existence, Since overall man uses religion to create separation whilst instead, because of the notion "spirit" which we all have it should be used to integrate and not separate humanity....It's like the saying "God Is One"Thats the reality from a divine or spiritual perspective since the goal of all religion serves the same purpose..Which is the elevation of soul/spirit..but in practice well.I see why you have your view...This is why there has so much problems religiously speaking historically..Still being played out today....It's like they are all so busy vying for some competitive power they've forgot the essence of all religious teachings.which basically is to let go of ego...So I see why you have this view..I just respected and admired the way he expressed his view..
