Did Jesus teach once saved always saved (eternal security)? Is this what the disciples and Apostles taught? Why are there warnings about the possibility of apostasy? Why are there so many calls to abide and endure? What does the Bible say about this topic? Is it really as clear cut as many teach?

Adam, thank you brother for addressing those of us who Satan attacks year after year about our salvation. I am one of those. I have been a Christian for 23 years (since I was 12). My journey has been a slow growth of leaving sin and pursuing righteousness in Christ. I struggled with a porn addiction. God freed me of that after 17 years of struggling to gain victory over that. I still struggle with anger and bitterness often when Im pouring myself out in service to my wife and daughter; yet God's Word calls me to serve them sacrificially with humility and grace rather than in bitterness. I also struggle with impure speech. Many of my friends don't know that because it only comes out when im hot under the collar in the privacy of my own home. Yet Satan would have me believe my failures in those areas point to me being a rotten tree. Yet the more life I live, the more Im convinced that only in Jesus's work on the cross do I have any hope of salvation. I am a broken man, yet I choose to believe that is is evidence the Holy Spirit does live in me because I still believe the Gospel. My spiritual growth has been slow but Im still here and because God's Word is true, it would be pure stupidity to seek truth about eternal things anywhere else.

With me the Word of God interprets itself. Jesus explains clearly what it takes to be Born Again in Romans 10. Also, we all fall short of the Glory of God. Predestination is simply God being all knowing. He sees the future and knows who will choose Christ and who will not. We have free will and He will not break it. All knowing and letting it be. No robots. He has Angels for that job.1 Peter 1:12 KJV Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. God desires real Love freely given to Him by our choice. Would someone want a spouse that was made to love them? Surely not. Why is that so hard to understand? I appreciate you Brother !

To carry on a lustful life? Romans 6:15, 16. What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? GOD FORBID. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? V 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Seems to me if one doubts the eternal security that THE CREATOR JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF promised then one doubts the character of GOD. Who simply speaks things into existence. Do we grieve THE HOLY SPIRIT of course. Do we want to of course not. It seems the scripture points to losing or gaining crowns. But not the salvation HE promised.

Hey brother. First of all, I did not say you seem confused as a harsh rebuke, or anything like that. Though my tone is urgent, I just want you to identify, and admit when your biblical studies are leading you to make contradictory statements, and then figure out where your misunderstanding is. I think that you are truly seeking the truth, and I also think that you are doing a good job on this channel and doing God's will, and that you do have the teaching calling. However, you cannot make statements like "if the bible teaches BOTH that you have eternal security, AND that you can walk away, then that's what I believe".. Instead of saying that, you have to figure out which one it is. That's not "picking a side", thats finding the truth. It cannot be both. God does not have two opposing truths on this same matter. And You cannot be attempting to correct someone else about believing eternal Security, while also saying eternal security is biblical. I think your confusion is fine, but not admitting it may be a bigger problem. It could be Satan trying to deceive you.. I do not fit into a "side" or a "group" or "denominational belief" either. I keep my nose in my bible and God gives me understanding. I see a lot of error on both sides of this debate, but it's definitely the conditional security side that is RIGHT biblically in this debate. (2pet2:20-22, Luke 8:13)..Most of them have HORRIBLE framework in their theology, denying God's sovereign election ( Romans 8:30) and INVENTING the idea that we as humans can make choices God did not already choose for us to make (Romans 9:20-22). however, Conditional security is biblical, and eternal security is a deception that will cost many their souls...there is no "both".. With that said, the Calvinists/POTS advocates are RIGHT on Election (such as Corey Minor), while most (the overwhelming majority) of the conditional security proponents are WRONG on their view of election, such as "Mauler", JP UNCUT, AK Richardson, Dr. Michael Brown (all of whom he debated on OSAS and Election) and the OVERWHELMING majority of conditional security proponents.. So there is a lot of ERROR on both sides of the debate..but still, eternal security is false doctrine, and conditional security is biblical. And this is very important for us to know. It's not small thing. Souls are on the line.. 99% of the Christians who read this comment will disagree with me, and I'm fine with that. Here is the truth... God has an ELECT, that he has chosen by the council of his very own will (Romans 9). He chose them, and arranged for them to COME to salvation, and to NEVER LOSE IT (John 10:27-28).These individuals will never lose their salvation. But because they do not know who God elected, and are WARNED instead of being told they can't perish, they DO NOT have eternal security. Instead, it was God's plan to WARN THEM (Romans 11:19-22, 2pet3:17) , and to let them know that some who are saved for a while are NOT his elect (1jn2:19,Matt 7:23) and will lose their salvation. So instead of his elect saying to themselves "everybody who gets saved is the elect that will not perish, so that means I can't lose my salvation", they say "God has an Elect that won't lose their salvation, but their are ALSO others that WILL lose their salvation, and since he DID NOT TELL ME which one I am, I will LISTEN TO HIS WARNINGS instead of assuming I am elect, and endure to be saved"... So I hope you see, if someone has "eternal security of the believer" they are saying that because they believe, they are Gods elect and can't fall away. But this is totally untrue. Someone is God's elect, if they are God's elect. Being a genuine believer does not ensure this. The only thing that ensures if we are the elect that won't fall away, is if we don't fall away. So our security is not unconditional, our security is conditional based on our endurance. If we endure, we are God's elect and will be with him forever, like he planned. I am extremely confident that this is the truth, and also very aware that almost nobody agrees currently. But I hope to bring reformation and understanding. Praise God. I believe you have enough biblical understanding to put these two concepts together. God's Sovereign election, and salvation being lost. It's as simple as understanding that those who lose salvation are NOT ELECT. and we must to endure to the end prove that we are them. Blessings brother.

@@seekingtheoncesaved2834 Hey my friend. Thanks for this detailed comment. I didn’t take your comments as a harsh rebuke and I hope I didn’t portray you in that light. It actually helped me see something I needed to address, so it was helpful. Thank you. I’m not sure how far into the livestream you watched, but I gave my final thoughts towards the end, which is the position I shared with you previously. I believe the bible teaches security for the one who abides (endures) in Christ. Hebrews 3 is another really great example of this (unfortunately I didn’t include it in this session). When I say the bible teaches both, I mean there are elements of truth on both sides, which again was in my final conclusion. Hebrews 3:12-14 (ESV) 12 Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. 13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. This is pretty hard to ignore the many exhortations to continue, endure, abide, persevere, etc. This entire segment is about the rebellion in the wilderness, and the conclusion is: Hebrews 3:16-19 (ESV) 16 For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses? 17 And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief.” The point of the live more than anything was that we let the bible say what it says, regardless of what we WANT IT TO SAY. You and I are in agreement about much, I just haven’t had the time to do the deep dives into all you’re saying, but I will. I don’t expect this to be a popular position either, but if its what scripture teaches, its what it teaches. I was never saying, or attempting to say, that all “eternal security (OSAS)” teachings are true as presented, and all “apostasy” teachings are also true as presented. That’s not what I was getting at. I was saying there are ELEMENTS of both that are true, but each can sway too far one way or another in how they are most often presented. I don’t agree with all you’ve shared, like Satan is at work here, or that there aren’t opposing truths (paradoxes) here. With all of the denominations, beliefs, mixed with misinformation out there, it can take a while for someone to shut out the noise and let the Word do the talking to work through some of these things, which I’m currently doing. I do believe there is mystery in salvation and there are opposing truths (paradoxes) here, as in the already, but not yet idea. We are saved, yet will be saved, hence the need for endurance. These passages in Hebrews I just shared highlight that, as well as the Parable of the Sower, 1 Peter 1:3-9, etc. It’s all over. The condition is endurance and abiding. Remaining in Christ.

@ nothing I shared is works based salvation. Cooperating with the Holy Spirit and grace of God in our lives is abiding in Jesus Christ. This is scripture. He does the work, we submit to the work and cooperate with it. By grace, through faith. Just remain in the gospel of Jesus Christ and do not depart from that place, just like I shared in my last video/live. Persevere in God’s grace. Remain. Stay. Endure. As I shared, Paul himself concludes his ministry by saying “I have fought the good fight, i have run the race, I have kept the faith.” This is what we do. We keep the faith. Peter says in 1 Peter 1:3-9 we are being guarded by God’s power through FAITH. The righteous shall live, by faith. Our righteousness is in Christ, by faith. We must simply remain, keeping the faith, abiding in this truth. Hope this answers your question. God bless. EDIT: John, I should not have started with “nothing i shared is works based salvation,” but rather started by asking what did you hear that caused you to think that’s what I was suggesting? Can you give me an example? I’d love to elaborate if necessary.

I just think teach predestination and election is more confusing to people who try and reason with their own understanding instead of just leaning on scripture. Election and predestination are NOT mutually exclusive with conditional salvation. You must abide or you will fall away. You must examine yourself to see if you are in faith. All the numerous scriptures warning BELIEVERS. It’s really clear but there is people with itchy ears who can’t understand scripture in their own strength and need to ABIDE and SURRENDER themselves to scripture. I don’t trust myself but I trust God. Revelation comes from God not man simply reading the Bible has no power.

👍🏽 But... ⚖️ Balance is crucial in the teaching and understanding of Scripture. YHWH gives discretion to know what no right, His Spirit guides us into all Truth. The delicate balance is maintained by the mystery of God, through His Spirit of Truth ( Isaiah 28v9-12, 23-29) ~The one who has eternal security will prove this by his abiding, not vice-versa [the one who abides will have eternal security]. OSAS. The just shall live by faith, therefore the one who apostatizes from the faith has proven by his outcome of leaving the faith, which he claimed to have, that he is not the just/the justified one (Col 1v23): for he no longer lives by the faith. Anyone can claim to be saved, but it's his outcome/fruit which confirms which tree he comes forth from. Hence the constant encouragement to continue. The reason those who started out excited, believing but having no root is because he didn't receive the Holy Spirit. The root is the Spirit🕊 of the Word. The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. The devils also believe and tremble. We must believe and let the Spirit of the Word take root in ourselves. So help me, help us YHWH!

Jesus is God, he said the life he gives is eternal and you shall NEVER perish, scripture tells us that God cannot lie. It is impossible to lose salvation, because it is impossible for God to lie, you are preaching another gospel. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may KNOW that you HAVE eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:20 Last sentence This is the true God, and eternal life. Jesus said he is the life that he gives. @@EugeneHolley-rc6ry I am preaching the gospel as presented in scripture. If you’re going to accuse me of preaching another gospel, then you need to articulate which scripture I have incorrectly interpreted. I take these accusations seriously. Simply saying “God can’t lie” and giving me a handful of scriptures that you believe “proves” eternal security does not make me wrong or preaching another gospel. When did I say we are saved by anything other than what is described in Ephesians 2:8-9? You’re right Jesus never leaves or forsakes anyone. But people can and do forsake him, which are the warnings that exist in the bible that i’ve shared. There is security for the one who abides in Christ as scripture teaches. The scriptures you quote are true, but are not the full and complete counsel. I’m simply giving the full counsel of Gods word and not presupposing eternal security into the text. I love 1 John 5:13. Its true and a beautiful passage. But you also need to consider 1 John 2:28, which commands us to “abide in Him,” which John states dozens of times in his letters. The condition is abiding. It simply means to “remain” or “stay.” Jesus doesn’t walk away from anyone. People walk away from Jesus. We do not lose free will after salvation and we do not become robots. Read Hebrews in its entirety, not just picking out the passages that suit eternal security. Read chapters 2 and 3, and 6. Read all of the calls to persevere and endure and abide, throughout the new testament. We can make the scriptures say what we’d like when we ignore the ones that don’t suit our doctrine. Jesus, James, John, Paul, Peter, and the writer of Hebrews all preach endurance, continuing in the faith, and abiding. I could list several passages that support this. If you watched the entirety of the message, you would see there is great assurance we have in Christ, and scriptures like 1 John 5:13 and encouraging and assuring, as well as passages like John 10. These encouraging passages do not negate or contradict the other warnings that exist, such as Luke 8:13, Hebrews 6:4-8, 1 Timothy 4:1, and others, which present the possibility of the person turning away from Jesus and willfully abandoning the faith. Again, Jesus doesn’t leave anyone, ever. Hebrews 3:14 (ESV) For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.

@@glasshousetvofficial I believe you are not understanding what I am saying, we are save by grace through faith, and not of anything we do, it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest a man should boast. You are telling me Jesus got it wrong, he says the life he gives is eternal and you shall NEVER perish, why are you telling people they must endure which is works, if I must do something to remain in him then it is by works. Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. Hebrews is to the Jews that were attempting to go back to sacrificing of animals, we the Gentiles have never been under the law of Moses, we cannot even do that, but Catholics try by holding Mass which is a sacrifice on their alter for sins. You are interpreting these scriptures as losing salvation that is eternal, never ending, everlasting, if that were true it would not be eternal, we are justified by faith not something we do, we are told it is a free gift, not earned. You are asking me to interpret scripture according to these scriptures that are not saying we can lose what is eternal, example Luke 8:13 is answered in verse 12 lest they should believe and be saved. Romans 4:3-8 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works, saying, blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom God will not impute sin. Only sin separates us from God, the payment for sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. He paid it all for us, we do not still owe God for sin, he took our sin on the cross with him and made us the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corithians 5:21. Truly, truly, I say unto you, he that hears my word and BELIEVES on him that sent me, HAS everlasting life, and SHALL NOT come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24. We are to be like Abraham and believe God, we can do nothing to earn salvation, we are only asked to believe God. James, John, Peter, Paul are not God, Jesus is God, we are to believe on him and interpret scriptures by what he said. Let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, that thou might be justified in thy sayings, and might overcome when thou art judged. Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore NO condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. We are not under the law, but grace. We abide in him by walking according to the Spirit, that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Therefore, by the deeds of the law there shall no man be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God which is by FAITH of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that BELIEVE: for there is no difference: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being justified FREELY by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God has set forth to be the satisfactory payment through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through forbearance of God. There is nothing more to do for salvation than believe in the finished work of Christ.
