I was a cop in CA a few years before that and it was common practice to just toss the weed (user amounts, joints) out on the ground. It just wasn't worth doing the paperwork unless there was some other real crime involved... but for traffic stops and stuff like that, nah. So I never believed that Harris locked up thousands of people for pot because cops in CA just weren't arresting that many people for pot.

That doesn't change the fact that she herself has admitted that she smoked and inhaled, or the fact that she got her positions in California for having an affair with Judge Willie Brown . She also sent to jail a black single mother with a disabled child with sickle cell anemia just because that child was going too much to the hospital and had to be absent from school with medical excuse notes that weren't respected and the mom who worked in the medical field was left homeless and lost her job thanks to Kamala's law on truancy, and thanks God the supreme court of California changed that horrible law created by marxist Kamala but the damage had been done already. And that was not the only african american mother she sent to jail for the same reason. People can watch the interview here on KZbin if the algorithm lets you find it.... Kamala promoted illegal crossings of the border and laws to allow criminals to stay on the streets of California, and thanks to her and Newsom, we have more crimes than ever before in California. She is completely fake and a great representation of the agenda 2030 and the WEF. She said that was totally against fracking, and now she is trying to change those words . You can ask her whatever you want she will tell you that she comes from a middle-class family. She wants to ban guns, and now she is also trying to say something different to trick people. She uses all the time the word "equality " when talking about the people of the country, and that is a marxist term used all the time in c0mmunist countries to deceive people. Her language is completely the language of a c0mmunist person, and if you never lived in a c0mmunist country under that kind of tyranny, you probably won't recognize it, but I do.

Like a lot of Americans, black and white, (and our friends in Canada and Europe), we all arrived at supporting the decriminalization of pot in our own time. For me, I thought it should be legalized in 1980's. For others, as studies, scholarship, data, feedback from law enforcement, and the courts gained traction in the press...and as the last 2 generations came of age...opinions evolved, minds changed and the law began to reflect modern consensus. Thus, lawers changed how they pursued their practices. We want that, right? Research, academic study, and journalism help shift opinion, change cultural attitudes and the laws that support them. I don't begrudge Harris her record of incarcerations. She was a prosecutor. She did A LOT of good. OUR LAWS are not all just, but they change. She became a legislator, so she could, using her vast experience and expertise, craft law. She is FOR the decriminalization of marijuana now. She openly supports it. She is a center left Democrat who enthusiastically supports unions, labor, human rights, education, and democratic institutions....vs...Trump, who is openly hostile to the rights of each and every American and is absolutely contemptuous of women, POC and LGBTQ's. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

The DA choose which cases to go after. They manage prosecutors directly by removing or replacing them on cases and they indirectly manage cop activity through their general stance on issues for cops under their jurisdiction. The scale is inflated for propaganda but it's definitely under their power to influence policies at least in the negative. They have complete power to refuse to pursue charges against someone regardless of what the prosecutor says.

A prosecutor does not write the laws. He or she enforces them. If weed is illegal. The prosecutor has no choice. Now they may have some discretion on how they prosecute someone. I don’t smoke weed, but I believe it should be legal, as in smoked at your home. The other day I was shopping and I smelled pot in the parking lot. The driver was getting high while waiting for his girlfriend. I have no problem if he gets busted and goes to jail. The same for someone drinking booze. Getting high while driving is dangerous and you are a jerk for doing so.
