This theory actually fits with something else that I just remembered. Roxanne easily believes Max basically tells her that Goofy and Powerline are buds. I sometimes wondered why she would believe something so ridiculous, but this theory makes Max's lie sound logical/believable. Also, I almost forgot how many people owned that Mickey phone back in the day 😂😂

God...Now I feel bad for Goofy even more now. I can imagine a scene where he heads home after dealing with all of the legal disputes and Disney's Lawyers, We can see his smile and attitude slowly fade until he enters his room...he starts to tear up. He slowly cries after losing a lot, he then turns around and sees a picture of baby Max on his dresser. He wipes his tears after seeing the photo, smiles a bit and says "I gotta be strong, I gotta be strong for Maxie."

It also hurts more that when in Extremely Goofy movie when Max told Goofy get out of my life and get your own well what Max doesn't understand and most likely doesn't know is that Goofy had a life before Goofy was a famous celebrity loved by the world over and was very wealthy but he gave all that up for his son so Goofy literally has to rebuild his life back up from scratch including his social and dating life so it's easy for Max to say for Goofy to get a life when Goofy already gave it up once before 😭

Whoa this makes a lot of sense and I can actually see this happening, if this really happened to Goofy then he's truly a great father to give up his famous and wealthy life to give Max a normal life and also Goofy has amazing patience with Teenage Max when Max was doing all his complaining in a Goofy Movie and not once did Goofy yell something like you ungrateful little boy I gave up my entire life and everything I had to give you a potentially better one and you can't spend one day with me as Father and Son No Goofy is loving and caring throughout the whole thing 🙌❤️

I think I heard somewhere in the original plot of the Goof Troop series; Peg was going to be Goofy's wife and Max's mom. It kind of made sense since Peg is shown to have a really good relationship with Goofy and Max, and while she does love Pete their relationship did seem kinda iffy for a married couple. Still, I'm not sure if it's true, as it could just be a rumor.

No, Peg was always Pete's wife. There is unused concept art for Goofy's wife, look it up online sometime. Though, it's obviously not canon, since they didn't use it; she kinda resembles that rotund waitress from the movie.

This is an interesting one, as Goofy did have a wife and son in some of the older cartoons. I don’t think we ever got a name for the wife, but the son was called Junior. If we were to put all this into the same universe, Junior could have been a nickname that Max grew out of when he got older. As for what happened to his mom, I do remember a few of the cartoons showing Goofy and the Mrs as having problems. One that stands out was a cartoon where she went out for the day and left Goofy to act as mom for the day, doing housework and taking care of their son. During this, there is a scene where the milkman shows up, delivering the milk and kissing Goofy, thinking it was Mrs. Goofy, hinting at an affair. This could easily be a reason for the two to divorce, leaving Goofy a single parent for the Goof Troop series, with a slightly older Junior/Max.

Reminder For a goofy: he has almost been living in bad conditions, FOR EXAMPLE in the Mickey Mouse show Mickey is famous living in a big house, Donald Duck is friend with him living in a big house also, and goofy lives in a broken wooden house in a swamp and he still hangs out with them Goofy is just a “goofy” character

I think the headline is misleading. Max didn't ruin anything, if your theory holds then it was Goofy's own decision to leave his money and fame behind and concentrate on his son. This is a very surprising angle from a person who has a child. Children do not ruin careers (unless they are knowingly and purposefully sabotaging it by setting your boss on fire), adults are in charge of their own decisions, feelings and actions.

The thing with peg I like to believe she left Pete and got custody of pistol since pistol looks three in the show to me so if max and pj are teens around fourteen or fifteen to explain being in high school and were eleven in the show meaning three or four years have passed by the movie that put pistol at seven or eight meaning she doesn’t get a say in which parent she lives with but pj being a teen would get a say however and unfortunately since he reveres his father he choose Pete to live with and I like to think peg offer pj a place to stay during holidays and the summer for college life since Pete made it clear pj room be turned into a wreck room or something

I would imagine Goofy had a rough divorce, and his ex pretty much cleaned him out financially. Eventually they went to court to see who would get full custody of Max, and Goofy won. That's my thinking anyway.

Well, if Clarabell was his wife in that idea, she looked like she's a very humble character, so she looks like She'd wanna raise her son like wise with a more country like setting and when she I feel like a Disney death was at play while if she just ditched Max was a VERY curious child he would want to know. While becoming protective of him to spare his dad, that kinda pain. And I know Donald and Mickey hell, even Pete would definitely have something to say. On the other hand, I believe she isn't. It is the faceless lady from the original goofy shorts. It would make sense since she wasn't in any more Disney products at the time, and Clarabell was, I believe she was in the house of mouse WITH Goofy and Max PRE college. So I think she is the faceless lady in the old shorts and she passed when Max when was YOUNG so he remembered her 🤔 that and swear they mentioned something about a mom giving him that teddy bear...but I could be wrong

IMO Max was the result of a one night stand actors are so famous for and then when his one nighter woman died (presumably in child birth due to complications) this ostracized Goofy from the "family friendly Disney image" as it would look bad for him to have a child out of wedlock. Max did not ruin his father's life. Really if anyone is to blame, it would be the Ex Mrs Goof. If she walked out on her family, (likely leaving them for the milkman) then Goofy wanted to be there for his son as much as possible. He didn't want to put his job before his son.

Given the 50s setting, I like to imagine George Geef is Max's grandfather, and Goofy's original name was Garret Geef, but he changed it to Goof as part of some identity protection thing he did after working for SHUSH in the 80s and retiring to raise his son.

Treasure Of The Lost Lamp was not the series finale to DuckTales, seven episodes came out after. The true series finale to DuckTales is "The Golden Goose" Part 1 and Part 2.

How did you get all of that? From my knowledge, the show got greenlit because there was a sorta tribute to the Goofy shorts of the 50's done in the late 80's/ early 90's (I think the name is Goofy Sports or something), and it did well with audiences. That pilot is literally based off that short and that short is inspired by the 50's short, so the show is an extension of the 50's Goofy. Which wasn't a "movie star". That Goofy didn't surface until the 80's I believe. Goofy has always been the "nice friend with bad luck". He was always portrayed as the "working man" always having an off-screen job, practical knowledge, or real-world insight about a topic. Donald was always portrayed as the "older friend"; in the shorts with Mickey, he usually gave advice [not good] and later he was placed in the military, which of the cast that position stayed with him. Donald is a sailor even now. What I am getting at is Goofy of Goof troop is based off the 50's Goofy; not the 80's Goofy. Donald is a sailor and the only one that seems to be rich is Mickey, but just because you have a rich friend doesn't mean you are rich. Since it is based off the gang of the 50's Mickey may not be associated with Hollywood since that happened after Walt lost control of the company in the 70's, and Mickey's animations where just adventures in the 50's. Mickey's "wealth" maybe from him selling his stories or being an animation house. Mickey always ran some type of small self-owned business in the 50's. I thought they never showed a picture of Max's mom was a reference to the short because they never shown Goofy's wife face.

It's actually much simpler than that, and has nothing to do with Max. If you'd seen "The Goofy Success Story" (an episode of The Wonderful World of Disney anthology television series) you'd know that he gets paid $30 a week (that's gross, not net). In the show "The House of Mouse" it's revealed that Mickey and Donald own the cartoon club 50/50, and Goofy just gets to be the waiter. Whatever the reason, because he's too nice, polite, naïve, a bad negotiator, or because he's black; there is a canonical wage gap between Mickey/Donald and Goofy.

A Goofy Movie is one of my favourite Disney movies. I got it on VHS for Christmas in 1995 after my 9th birthday, and I watched it with my siblings all the time. I've watched it on Disney+, and I got it on DVD in 2022. It's fantastic! Your theory is pretty good. We really didn't get much backstory in either of the movies or in Goof Troop. But it would be great if your theory was official.
