Jay I don't blame you for not doing extended KZbin sound clips - IMHO the reason you may not be getting a lot of clicks on them is that folks "in the know" realize that the sound they hear at home cannot in any full sense replicate the sound of YOUR system in THEIR rooms through THEIR systems no matter how good they are. The material that we are hearing on your KZbins is necessarily interpreted by our equipment and there is no way we can get a full measure of what YOUR system sounds like. I get a chuckle when I read that someone says what a great sounding system ANY reviewer has :-)

Why would Mac pay you? Is a thumbs up from you supposed to drive sales? They can’t keep up with demand as it is. In any case the 901s already enjoy a stellar reputation. Wish they’d make a smaller version.

They do! It is called the MC 451. It is 1/2 the power of the 901. 150 watts in the tube section and 300 watts in the solid state section.

@@billrobertson2437 I’m familiar with the 451s but 1. Not the same look, 2. Not the same flexibility, 3. Not particularly well reviewed, 4. The SS section is (apparently) based of the MC312 and that amp isnt so impressive. I owned it. The 462 is another beast entirely.

I agree with your McIntosh review 100%. I've owned the McIntosh mc 402 and c 2600 for many years and have derived countless hours of enjoyment. As I've said over the years it's easier to condemn and criticize what y'all don't accept, understand or can afford.

Yeah, there’s an Italian reviewer who aired a demo on YT of the 901’s together with the Aida II’s, and I was absolutely floored. For us poor people, would you consider reviewing some of MAC’s integrateds such as the MA12000 and compare it against comparably priced gear (e.g. Boulder 866, Gryphon 666, oops, 333)?

I tested the MA12000 against the Boulder 866. 866 is on a different level except midrange and tuby highs (warmth). Everything else it is just 😮

If you think about it, anyone who can afford these 901s, will surely demo them first, and probably bunch of other ultra high end amps, and they can hear the difference for themselves Btw mcintosh is not some brand trying to make a name, evreyone knows mcintosh , and even if you don't know mcintosh and for some weird reason you want to buy 901s as your first amp, you still will demo it ! Some people are so ridiculous and jealous. How about take the channel and the review at face value and move on. Jay has said this a million times, why he has done what he is doing, and he has mentioned his opinion on McIntosh in the past. Jay has said that this is a business for him and when it stops being one or isn't worth his time, he will stop. Jay has said anyone that has a certain number of subscribers is operating a business. OC Mikey has said the exact same thing, it's a business. I respect the both of them for different reasons and yes people give Mikey crap as well, for some success makes others unhappy. Jay is covering the High-end, not the low end, not the middle end, but the High-end. He has been gracious enough to mix it up with lower end products, but he has said that he won’t live there. Jay has never told anyone that they have to buy or live at his level, but some can’t stand others getting ahead, because of their own inferiority complex. Let's help this man, subscribe, and tell others and support his efforts. Jay has been incredibly transparent and still people hate, it’s ridiculous. Let’s come together and support this man and his commitment to both his passion and dedication to his craft. Jay is correct, if you are on the inside and get a dealer discount, at least with Audio Research, you must keep that product for a period of time before selling, otherwise your discount is gone. Get a life or move on, for the rest of us we will just enjoy the content. My rant is now over!!!

Kay keep up the great work! I have the McIntosh MA12000 integrated amplifier and I love it. When I went to hear this integrated at a reputable dealer near Toronto Canada, the 901s were sitting on either side of the MA12000 and all I can say is wow! They sound incredible and they look the part!

Jay, in your journey you have exposed us to many different high end amps that in most cases were more expensive than the MC 901. I am sure that there is a lot of disbelief out there as many people do not have a positive opinion of Mcintosh. I have always found that you provide outstanding content. Very few can detail what it is like to live with these aspirational products the way you do. No one is better at giving a glimpse as to what the pros-and-cons of owning such pieces of audio exotica are. There is plenty to find on budget audio, but not on the iconic brands that frequent your lab. As for me, I do not watch the sound clips, I find them to be a turn off and not a good use of my time. For me to fairly evaluate what you are hearing I need to be listening to things in your room with your electronics, speakers, and cables. Piped through my media PC to my HT setup or headphones just can't cut it. Despite being competent they do not do such products justice. So, I do not bother. That being said, the work you do and the insights you can give are invaluable. I appreciate all the time and energy you invest in these videos. Many Thanks.

Answer: You buy for pennies on the dollar then sell for higher price. But they don't pay you is your alibi. Unless you are just super wealthy that buys at full price then resells at a loss for fun. If you like these you should try a Burmester pre and amp....need both together. I have the 088 now and the 911 MK3 but they are coming out with a new amp called the 218 that will be the successor to the 911.ONLY Downside to BM is they like banana more than spades since the biding post twist knobs get in the way to get around most spades.

Great video Jay. Wayyy too many haters out there. I just picked up the baby brothers to the MC901's, the MC451's. They sound great! I considered the 901's but ultimately they were physically too large for my setup, but I'd love to have that extra power!

You get an extra good deal to buy them. They likely know that you’ll talk about them on your channel. Then you make money when you sell them. So indirectly, there is financial gain. Saying if it that way would actually be “full transparency”.

Very few companies research n build tube amplifiers and solid state anplifiers for years. They have plenty of experience in this field, so, combining tubes n solid state in one chasis is no surprise in bringing the best of both worlds... 901👍

You spend a lot of time justifying yourself on your channel about your dealings with the manufacturers and/or dealers for the products you select to review. That they are insanely expensive and not for everyone is a fact. It was your decision to cater to that audience for better or worse and I accept that, good for you. Why you spend such inordinately amount of time, yours and ours, explaining to some of your viewers your decisions and motivations is beyond me! The reason I started watching your YT channel is the fact that all the gear you review is bought and paid for by you. I think that TAS and Stereophile have policies preventing their reviewers from receiving money or product from manufacturers. Seems to me that this isn't the case for some YT reviewers. I think the psychology from these people is like this: If a product or brand they don’t like gets a great review, then the reviewer *must* have gotten paid to say great things. I’m willing to bet that everyone who things you got paid by McIntosh doesn’t like Mac or doesn’t think this is a great amp…even if they’ve never heard it. Just look at some of the comments. Shit like “this amp and that amp (whatever thier favorite amp is?) will blow away this Mac…even though they’ve never even heard this Mac and probably never will If you give a great review for the amp these people own, they won’t accuse you of being paid off? - facts

So Macintosh proposed to pair their amps with Sonus Faber speakers. Well, it is actually the same company 😂 Both brands are owned by Macintosh Group 😮In a declining industry, hifi is mostly about high margins. Higher prices allow higher margins. Don’t get me wrong, I like hifi, but open your eyes. You can get a similar sound quality with a fraction of the price

I wouldn't be learning that from you. You don't even know the difference between a white paper and a peer reviewed journal article much less a "real set of performance technologies." From amplifiers to DACs to cables (which in MITs case are just glorified RLC networks) you couldn't call out a 5 year old.
