I really can't stand the people laughing at those calls; it was heartbreaking for me, cause I've been around alcoholics, that hurt like him, and it's gut-wrenching to witness. One of them was only just 22 and I saw him literally drink himself to sleep, puke, knock out again, wake up , drink, puke, repeat, and then I ended up getting him an Uber to the hospital; he was in so much Agony and he knew he could have talked my ears off and I wouldn't mind, but he just drank and drank.

That's my cycle, minus the puking (for some reason I have an iron stomach; have only puked on 2 occasions in the last 6 years, and I practically drink myself to sleep 7 days a week. I make sure i turn my phone off and put it away before i take my first sip though

They both love one another, but drinking is destroying him and until he stops drinking and get to the root of his pain, he can't be the friend that his best friend deserves nor can he love himself the way he deserves. The change will not come overnight, but the change has to come before the health issues come and he will be unable to see his best self.

I think the question of WHY the ex dumped him could be nipped in the bud by simply asking the ex whether the best friend spilled the beans. I wish she'd made an appearance to answer the main question. I don't believe the friend ratted him out, but even still, THAT was not a real reason for his ex to dump him. It had to be something deeper. Upon reading the title and hearing the intro, I thought the "secret" would be a lot more jarring than a simple bad joke (like cheating, sexuality, drug use, a criminal past, etc.). Some ppl allow their vices to drive away the only real friends they have, but wonder why they are alienated.

Many alcoholics are drinking. Because of trauma they sustained. So her speaking on it like that. Seems kind of harsh a little. He's in denial about his drinking problem. Sadly that means he won't get the help. He needs for it. Dealing and living with an alcoholic. I can say it defunetly destroys. Relationships on a regular. He needs to get help now.
