The thing is none of the people know what they’re talking about when they use the word “Heresy” without fully understanding its historical and theological context. The word 'heresy' originates from the Greek word 'hairesis,' which means 'choice' or 'sect.' Historically, it referred to beliefs that were deemed contrary to the established doctrines of the early Church. However, in modern usage, it is often applied too broadly and without proper consideration of the specific doctrinal issues at hand. When we discuss theological differences, we have to understand that there are things we need to be precise about the morphological context and informational terminological context to avoid misunderstandings and promote meaningful dialogue.

Honestly, NeedGodNet's video inspired me to start planning educational content because I was so disappointed... but now I'm elated because the fact viewers of NGN will probably see this video and see the inconsistencies about the protestant gospel and common points they use to misrepresent lots of doctrine. Now all that's left is to teach them how absurd the protestant canon is (and church history in general)... I can see lots of converts coming thanks to this dialogue. They're already real Christians, just glad they'll come to appreciate the fullness of the faith (and not continue to misrepresent parts of Christianity unknowingly.) I'll just rant about the protestant cannon rq. Jerome is often sited as attesting to the Protestant canon, but what people forget to mention is he stresses that the church has the authority to include what it wants, and then proceeds to include the Deuterocanon in his Latin Vulgate. This shows how despite his thoughts, he puts church authority above his - so Jerome is tough to use as an attestation to the protestant cannon. (Also, NGN misrepresents Irenaeus by saying he doesn't hold Apostolic tradition to be authoritative but Against Heresies Book 3 Ch 2-4 says otherwise) Funnily enough, just this morning I watched Gary Michuta's arguments how the protestant Canon are NOT attested by the typical argumentation, might be a good follow up. Btw that verse contradicts Sola Fide aswell and I’ve never seen that verse used anywhere. Have I misunderstood something?

The worst part about this response is the lack of charity without giving the skinny white guy any charity. Give him an opportunity to respond. Chat with each other instead of against each other. This response was just basically a response from an Arminian and synergistic perspective. The opposite points can equally be proven by doing exactly what @voiceofreason did here. One specific example was when VOR cited “workout your salvation” as a proof text for salvation being our work. If you read the very next verse it’s clear that it says that God is the one doing the work; “for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13👈🏼 that cannot be discounted but must be taken into context. Show the love of Christ to those that you are kinda making your enemy, at least from your treatment.

15:22 1st point - Absolute Certainty of God’s Promises So the rebuttal is Abraham doubted God, so we can’t be certain God is telling the truth when he makes a promise? This has some questions come to mind. Does God lie? Faith doesn’t give the believer the desire to do works, and repent? The compulsion to do good works, and repent is actual faith instead? Belief and Faith seem to be conflated in the Catholic view described in this video (not attributing this as the actual Catholic view, just this man’s). That being why works is being viewed as necessary actions, because the works are a separate factor for Faith not a result of Faith. The Protestant argues the works are a byproduct or desire of Faith, not a necessary (conscious action/effort) factor in Salvation. If you are doing the good works to prove to God, someone else, or yourself you have real faith, then that is not the Faith the Protestant refers to. Protestants argue our good works (including obedience to God) is a result from our Faith, not an attempt to earn Salvation or prove/validate/maintain one’s faith. So in short Faith to the Protestant produces everything the Catholic referred to in his rebuttal. To continue in sin, or return to sin is to lose Faith to the Protestant. One would need to renew their Faith (repent) in the Protestants view. The Catholics view describes works as a form of obedience in order to maintain their faith, so completely separate from faith. The desire to obey is not mentioned in the Catholic’s view; it is described as compulsion not a desire. Whether or not either of these men’s views are primary examples of either denomination I don’t know, but this is the take away I noticed from this exchange. The disagreement here seems routed in definitions. What faith is seems fundamentally different between both views. Are good works a result of Faith, or necessary in maintaining faith? The agreements here are obvious. Faith in God is required for Salvation. The writings of the Apostles hold authority. Jesus is God made flesh. You must submit to God’s authority to keep the Faith. Remember our brother’s and sister’s in other denominations have things they agree with us on. Do not hold hate towards them. Do not belittle them. Love them and work towards a common understanding of God’s word, and may we all find truth.

I think the Abraham example can easily be refuted by explaining the difference between us having absolute certainty in God’s promise, and the moral certainty we can have that we as individuals possess the conditions for that promise. I am absolutely certain that if I die in a state of grace I will go to heaven via the promise of God. However, I am not absolutely certain that I will die in a state of grace, or am in a state of grace now, though I am morally certain that I am. This is the distinction he isn’t understanding.
