When you turn power off to the fridge or put the RV in storage mode crack all the fridge & freezer doors to allow air flow. That will prevent the mold/moldy smell. Also I recommend several of Eva-dry E-333 dehumidifiers, they help with humidity and are easy to recharge by just plugging them in for 10-12 hrs.

We had a Jayco 5th wheel, 34', long ago. As for the generator in the front storage area, I was going to do that, but then was concerned about the exhaust gases permeating into the living space. What I ended up doing was building a battery bank system. At that time, 12V, high amp hour lithium batteries didn't exist. So i ganged 6, marine deep cycle batteries and our pure sine inverter to run the RV. For the generator, what I did there was to build a sound-proofing box to put it in. I lined the walls with that sound proofing insulation, oriented the gen so that the exhaust/muffler faced the rear and at the front, I installed a high air flow fan that came on when the gen was running. I connected the gen to the RV's battery charger system. The gen did not power the RV, which is good, because it wasn't an inverter generator. So it's sine wave was not clean like the inverter was. But this system worked out perfectly. The gen kept the batteries up while in use and the sound dampening worked so well that no one complained. LOL Well, one guy did. He was a fussbucket and he complained to the park owner. She came by and we chatted. When she said that he complained about the gen, I told her that it's running right now. LOL She was shocked because it was so quiet. She ended up having a little chat with miss fussypants and suggested that he stop complaining! LOL Sorry... that got long winded. ROFL

@@BlondieHappyGuy that's awesome! Sounds like you have a lot of experience. Currently looking at a few different types of generators/inverters. Not sure yet on which one will best fit our RV.
@BlondieHappyGuy10 күн бұрын
@@OnTheBrinkOfGreatness (Sorry, this got very long winded. LOL ) A lot depends on how much you want to spend and how "automatic" you want it to be. Sometimes, when people hear "Inverter" they think of a metal box that connects to a battery bank and converts the 12V (or 24V or 48V DC) to 120VAC with a clean sine wave. Well, that is true. But when talking about gas generators, they come it 2 types. One, what I refer to as "old school" produces power by a spinning magnet inside coils of wire. That power is sent out as approx. 120VAC. The sine waves on those are never clean. The other type of generator is called an Inverter generator. It produces power like the old school ones, but THAT power is fed into the Inverter, which is in fact similar to the box inverts that run off of batteries. (similar at least, electronically speaking). Those generators product very clean sine wave, often, even cleaner than the sine waves produced in some cities. LOL Modern electronics love clean sine wave and some may fail if the sine wave is "too dirty." So if you're looking for the right generator, first you should first calculate what the max watts/amps you'd use at any one time. Example, if you have one AC unit or two, look at its label to see how many watts/amps it/they draw. If you will run the fridge on 120AC add that to the calculations. Just add up all the things. I don't know what your background is in electronics or electricals is, but if you have and know how to use a clamp Amp Meter, you could find a place to clamp in on a single live wire that is at the input connector/socket on the RV. Then, run each item and check its wattage/amperage use and add them up. Or you could just turn everything on if your input supply can handle it and check the amps that way. The point here is to figure out what max amps or watts you'd use at any one time. So with 1 AC and other goodies, you might get away with a 3,000 watt inverter generator, as long as it can handle a surge of 3,500 to 4,000 watts (when motors start up). If 2 ACs, perhaps double that. Remember too, that when you see a generator that claims, for example, 3,000 watts, these days, that's not usually the "constant run" wattage! THAT might be the max surge wattage! If buying a gen and if in your budget I'd recommend a brand name, like Honda or Yamaha. They cost more, but you'd get better service out of them as compared to off-brand ones (or knockoffs). When researching, you can enter a brand and model into KZbin and probably someone has done a review on it. This can be helpful. I know that this got long-winded, but I hope it helps.

Hey fam you should look into getting the Morryde slide tray for your passthru storage. It pulls out so you can store and organize. Check it out on youtube. As for the screen door you can get a shim for the frame side latch at any big box hardware store. The generator can be stored in the front storage, there is no issue at all with that.

I'll look into the slide tray for sure. That would be great to be able to just slide it. Like the door idea. As far as generator I guess I need to research which one will work for our setup and also fit underneath. Thanks fam! When yaw dropping a new vid?

Awesome setup, I know that you just can't wait to get back out there, what do tow that long rv with? If you get rid of the caftsman air pump and get a Viair RV450 you will save a little more room, and have you thought about for some of your stuff on getting some bend or they make those pull out tray will help also. Yeah, your 5th wheel is pretty long but it's very nice. As far as a generator is it already prep for one and if it is no problem having one installed there, theirs are a couple of good one you can get, but the one thing I want to ask do you guys boondock anytime, do you go to like on the beach or the sand dune but if you don't do that and just only to the campgrounds, or rv parks it's not a need for one.
