Did people Hate on this game too Much?

Whats up guys! Today we are doing another parkour video, but this time in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This game has been getting a lot of hate (especially the parkour) so I thought I'd give it a try.

Ok i might be wrong, but i have been having a lot of fun in the last ACs with the parkour system, and unity and AC3 aside i havent had that much fin with parkour in AC Games. So maybe most of you people juste have pretty bad path finding skills, there are a lot of cool parkour spots whether it's in mirage, valhalla, origins and especially, even if most people think it's the worst for that, in Odyssey.

@@Chuggyopsbut that’s it you see you mentioned there are paths in all the games you mentioned and yeah technically that’s true but the issue is that exactly you have to go out your way to find those things which completely destroys the fun aspect init which also completely derails the player from going and doing as they please which thankfully il admit mirage isn’t winning no game rewards but their map layout was spot on no matter what route you take you can still get to the location you want to go in style with the other games that was missing entirely

one thing they need to fix in all AC games: no one should be able run on ropes like that. Ropes should stretch and sway around instead of acting like a fixed object

@@muzakkilast6398 I don't really see an issue with that, cloth physics are messed up in almost all games to some degree and be it little glitches here and there. But I admit, it could be better in AC Valhalla. Like with Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, where the cloth physic works rather well in my opinion. But even there sometimes a cape or poncho is glitching around or clipping with the arms and legs in some occasions.

I only just started, but from what I was told, it's great as a Viking experience, not a lot of Assassin's Creed in the gameplay, but the story works great in the AC universe and lore. That's enough for me, since I'm a sucker for Viking stuff, and dig the AC stories. And the complaints about the game being too long and big only makes me feel "Great, I won't be running out of Viking RPG stuff for a long while." I have an appreciate for games that you can spend many hours into its gameplay and story.

I've never played AC Valhalla. But most of the complaints were that it becomes repetitive and as you go on the quests don't have any substance in them. You'll be doing them just to get to the next level.

@@Master__Chief117 How you think that game is better is beyond me, all he had to do was make it for a few handful of location and still it's very floaty and the dude jumps like he's in a superhero game, it doesn't even have transition animations like this game does, if a transition is needed, then it goes to ragdoll, failing you. Even when grabbing ledges there is only one variation of animation, unlike this game, which varies from 5-6, relative to your position. There is no wall run with side eject, while sliding in ziplines you literally clip through the rope and go through the pole. The way he slides down, you see here that he crosses his arms? That's the proper way, nobody rotates like that in real Life. So yeah the quality is not even remotely close to the quality, more so better than this game. So yes, you're absolutely wrong in your uneducated assumption.

Debatable. The amount of hate it got was from it not being a proper assassins creed game. Just like Odyssey, it felt as if it could have been its own series. Side note: Some of that hatred, if not most, resonates from the fact that fans have been asking for a viking style assassins creed game; however, this came from those around the ac revelation's/ black flag era of players. The hope was the viking era with the gameplay similar to those titles. Or the very least, unity/ syndicate's gameplay after those titles released. To me, imo, everything after syndicate simply does not exist, and im patiently waiting for my world at war ac game. Edit: Combined of the last 4 ac games, which i will call: The "RPG" era, have also seen most players not finish the story. Valhalla being the worst and Mirage having most players finishing the story. Orgins did farely well because it was backpacking off of the "failures" of unity and syndicate. Odyssey did better in sells, but also started to push away from the ac identity. That, and its map size, with identical gameplay to orgins, gave players early fatigue. Valhalla, follows with same problem, so its effects a gameplay fatigue also kick in faster. Now onto Mirage, the "Catering" part of the RPG ac series. Its returned to basic, nearly copying ac 1's identity with gameplay, though due to its basic nature of it, you really felt the parry, kill of the gameplay. Story was meh at best, and the map size was smaller, but denser compared to the last 3 before it. All in all, out the 4, Mirage and Orgins are seen highly due to their close relation to actually being a ac game.

To answer the question in the title: YES! I get why people are upset and I've to admit, it's not an assassin game. You CAN use stealth, you CAN take out entire camps silently without beeing spotted but it takes much patience and the game doesn't reward you for acting like a Hidden One. But, to be fair, it's not the intention. While AC Valhalla is not a very good assassin game it's and incredible viking RPG! And it further develops the Isu culture and lore, making it still worthy of the title Assassin's Creed. As someone you didn't really know Assassin's Creed and started the series with Valhalla I had the privilege of experiencing this game without any pre-set opinions or certain expectations. I came to know it as a well-crafted viking game with lots of lore and backstory and a historical setting that I really like.

Compared to other AC entries, not really. This game had so much praise by being the only AC that has FULL 3 years of contents (2020-2022). The story is also bloated & everything feels like a filler if not for those reincarnation of Isu & the modern day stories (it felt so forced to bring back Desmond though, lol) Compared to the other AC RPG's entries, it could be. I enjoyed the mechanics & the world-building quite more in Valhalla compared to Origins & Odyssey. It was set in millenium times afterall, compared to other too. The only negative about Valhalla's mechanics is just that Eivor is too heavy to move around

IMO. Valhalla (especially male ver.) is Barbarian, so it would have some big size body. It makes em' less flexibilty than the other Assassins. Furthemore, they never had any Assassins training before. So, no mentor, no good parkour + less assasins things.

This is Valhalla! God I was trying to wrack my brain of what game it was by the gameplay. I thought it was Mirage at first but then I recognized the area in Valhalla. God that game was a nightmare. It wasn't difficult, there was just too much stuff to do that I, as a completionist, got bored and overwhelmed. Campaign may be the longest in the series I swear.

Along with the other two games before this the rpg system doesn't fit along with the wacky fantasy weapons if they made an entirely new title with this system then it's not a problem. I dunno man if you can't even kill an "Elite enemy" with an assassination because they are higher level or a different class or other weird passive effects says alot on how this title has changed. Stealth has been put to the side for more open combat. It's funny how they still call these games "assassin's creed".

The lack of parkour in this game isn't due to the character's movements, the problem is the design of the map itself. AC Mirage works because the design of Bagdad has Basim's parkour in mind, unlike Valhalla, where despite Eivor having the same parkour habilities, can't perform properly because all the cities and buildings are spreaded over a gigantic map.

I'm assuming this is Mirage well I enjoyed the game very much loved the parkour system the customization but what I did not like about it is that the story was too damn short and before people start hating I've been playing all of the Assassin's Creed games for years including Assassin's Creed 1 I'll always be a fan of the franchise

Wouldn't say hated, people may have lost interest in the series must of been like an estimation of 30 assassin creed games so far, this one turned out to be good, just don't like game launchers like Ubisoft Connect you have to sign up for. Ubisoft make great stealth games but don't you think they are over doing it by now no offense we are in a Assassin Creed Overload, since there's so many in the series. Haven't finished Origins, Odyssey or Valhalla yet since they are More Open World than the rest.

@@samshudt2527 Na it’s not updated, you can do these ejects in Valhalla but they are extremely inconsistent and unreliable. So this run took me a very long time to complete. And also this video is recorded on the best parkour spot in Valhalla probably.

Is this a Mod or how did you manage to make Eivor jump backwards while on a ledge? I know in the very old AC games you could hold right mouse button for freerunning and then just press space and Altaïr or Ezio would automatically jump backwards. I couldn't make that move work with Eivor and Basim just yet. Any tipps?

AC Mirage was a HUGE step in the right direction though. That game was definitely a proper AC game. Gameplay-wise, they did a very good job, most notably the idea of stealth and infiltration, and blending and such.

You made it look as good as it can. However I doesn't look very good, nor is it fun to play. The parkour has become so brain-dead. I hope with Shadows they add more control, bring back manual jumps when sprinting, real side ejects, all the good stuff. New CG trailer has me hyped ngl. Good video

Agree, I’m really excited for shadows but before I make any judgements I need to some gameplay. If Ubisoft actually make this a real Assassin’s Creed game it will be really good.

​​​@@CAMOLO.According to the trailer, the female shinobi, naoe(the assassin), will be having grappling hook for movements l, shuriken and kunai as melee weapons and katana. And the male samurai, yasuke, will be focused on rpg elements. Also Ac Shadows is being made by ubisoft Quebec(the guys who made ac Odyssey), so I am pretty hopeful that movement and parkour will be good.
