I'm a guy who's seen well over a thousand horror films over just the past few years, and yet I can honestly say that VERY few films have gotten under my skin the way The King of Comedy has. It's genuinely one of the most subtly eerie and uniquely disturbing films I've ever seen, despite also being very broadly comedic. It's kind of a miracle!

“most subtly eerie” yup yup. the different interpretations of obsession with celebrity and relevant even to celebrity culture now is quite cutting edge! its interesting how horror can age so well and comedy can age so badly given that they're both reflective of their time and all about tension. the difference between comedy and horror is a punchline!
