Update: Berkowitz has been asked and denied it. =s no remorse!! Wendy now has the Bx DA office agreeing her assailant was Berkowitz. She is the first known victim now.

NYPD closed the case under what is known as Exceptional Clearance. David Berkowitz is officially considered the person who shot Wendy. Berkowitz's denials mean nothing. At one point in his life he denied shooting almost every one of his victims.

I would be the worst at describing a face for a sketch composite. If I got a good look at a person, I would likely be able to recognize them in a lineup, and I'm good at remembering faces upon coming across those faces again, but in terms of giving info for a sketch composite? I would just know the hair type/color... beyond that there would have to be something extremely distinctive about a facial feature for me to describe it... it seems like most other people are able to maintain a visual image of the person in their heads to the point where they could describe details in ones facial structure (my brain doesn't hold mental images of people in that way, it's vague and not solid). Even now, I've seen numerous photos and videos of Berkowitz and I wouldn't be able to describe his face from memory for a sketch composite and he has a very distinctive look. I wouldn't even be able to describe the face of a family member for a sketch composite, so the whole sketch composite thing trips me out... even though they're almost always horrendous in the instances when we get to see how close they were. This lady's alleged composite of the David Berkowitz is so good that I'm a tad suspicious of it, because it would probably be one of the best sketch composites I've ever seen if in fact if in fact it was sketched before Burkowitz was a known entity.... however i believe the lady is telling the truth in the interview.

At the very least it appears as though she genuinely believes Berkowitz was the one who shot her. Doesn't necessarily mean he was the one, but she seems to be telling the truth that she thinks it was him. And if that composite was genuinely made before Berkowitz was made public, then it's certainly him... the composites close enough to where it be a gargantuan coincidence otherwise.

I’m really on the fence about this new allegation. There’s no question Savino was shot multiple times in what appears to be an unprovoked random shooting. The m.o. is similar to Berkowitz, the artists sketch looks somewhat like him. But there isn’t any hard evidence to prove Berkowitz was responsible. She wasn’t shot with the .44 because SOS hadn’t bought it yet. If I’m not mistaken she was shot with a .32 and there’s zero evidence SOS ever owned one. But there’s one thing that’s very odd. When Berkowitz was arrested, he admitted in his confession to inspector Dowd, that he shot an elderly woman previously with a 45 caliber gun. The only 45 caliber he had was a submachine gun. Berkowitz claimed he shot her, but she didn’t die. He didn’t elaborate and inspector Dowd didn’t pursue this avenue of questioning . the transcript of the interrogation by inspector Dowd can be found on the website people versus David Berkowitz. It has a lot of information and a lot of Maury Terry nonsense, but disregard that and there’s lots of police transcripts on the investigation and Berkowitz’s confessions.

The sketch is essentially an identical twin to Berkowitz and no fair person discounts that. I believe he was referring to Wendy in that passage. Also, it sounds like you are still influenced by the media created myths of son of sam.Using a .32 is totally believable as he made direct references to "it was just me and my guns" in his letters to Abrahamsen, had an entire arsenal when he was arrested, and wrote about buying pistols in Louisiana in 1971. I am not trying to convince anyone of anything, but there are many compelling reasons why Berkowitz shot Savino and I am moving forward with the Savino shooting as an official SOS shooting. @@mannygrossman The sketch is a decent likeness to SOS, but there are thousands upon thousands of men in NYC that have a similar likeness to that sketch. Once again there is no direct physical evidence that ties him to this crime. Has the NYPD made an official statement regarding this issue? I don’t think they have. I called NYPD and they transferred me to the DCPI department. I directly asked the employee who took my call if the NYPD had confirmed this allegation about SOS and the Savino shooting. He said “No” and hung up. End of conversation. This was several days ago. I appreciate your diligence but this allegation needs confirmation. Apparently Berkowitz has denied any involvement in this shooting. Coming from Berkowitz that denial shouldn’t be taken at face value because you know as well as me that he’s lied about virtually everything since his original confession on the night he was arrested.

Berkowitz lied about not doing this and totally lied about the interrogation and what he actually said during it. And weird you'd say it was not SOS mo, since it was his EXACT mo. Plus we found this case file in the Donna Lauria files so clearly some experienced Detective in 1976 thought the case was similar enough.
