Yeah but hawthorn obviously don’t value him as 2 first rounders. He might be contracted but he’s also 29 and his back is cooked.. hawks would be mad to offer 2 FR picks

@paulwhitehead1190 easy. Deal doesn't get done then. Hawks sounded him out, not the other way round. Btw at 29 he's still younger than Sicily and Frost. And his back is fine. You don't think they did a physical? He was put on ice when he declared he was going and the eagles started putting games into Hedwards.

Hi Daz, with Hawks now offering future first and second for Barrass, which I think will get it done in the end. Gee it would have been good for them to keep 14 and in this years strong draft, but I guess I’m being greedy 😂 great video again mate, Go Hawks, in Mitchell we trust 😊
@user-cp4os6ws1t3 ай бұрын
What Hawks are offering now is exactly same or slightly worse than what eagles said no to originally . Original was pick 14 and F2 for Barass and F3 Now F1 and F2 for Barass and F3 . Likely as Daz said about F1s , but my take is Hawks giving 2x F1(est~ picks 14&17) and 1xF3 (53)for Barass and a F2 (21) Hawks get Barass and 3 x 2nd rounder for 2025 (Eagles , Hawks and Blues) Eagles get 3x 1st rounder for 2025 with either the Hawks or Blues going to Tigers for Baker . Eagles will split pick 3 this year and go to draft with 2 1sts and pick26

The reaction from some folks (other people, not Daz) to the Hawthorn-Carlton pick trade is completely over-the-top. It seems like hyperventilating following a lack of action. Hawthorn have traded this year's pick 14 for Carlton's F1 and F2. Hawthorn could use that (or two future first-rounders) to trade for Barrass, and WC could use a F1 to trade for Baker. What's the issue? I'm ambivalent about whether WC should pursue Baker (and I think there's a risk that WC overpay), but the "analysts" who say this has "blown up" the trade period have lost their marbles.

Richmond’s trade makes extra sense when you look at their strategy in the draft last year of trading back multiple times while still picking the player they wanted. It’s as if they managed to create the picks to let them do this for “free”.

I hear Hawks are into Pick 13 to satisfy Eagles wants of getting a Pick in this year's draft. I think the following trades can happen to get Barrass to the Hawks. Trade 1: Hawks: In: Pick 13 Out: Hawks F1st, Blues F2nd Suns: In: Hawks F1st, Blues F2nd Out: Pick 13 Trade 2: Hawks: In: Barrass, Eagles F3rd Out: Blues F1st, Pick 13 Eagles: In: Blues F1st, Pick 13 Out: Barrass, Eagles F3rd Hawks hold onto Pick 30 and their F2nd for next year and get Barrass, as well as Eagles F3rd which can all be used to trade up on draft night if we see a player that we like e.g. like what happened with Josh Weddle.

This is interesting. It’s hard to believe that one pick swap has sent about 4 teams into shambles. Personally I’m glad that west coast didn’t take that offer. It’s pretty much been confirmed that it was going to be a swap out for baker. Nothing against baker, his a courageous player but his not a massive positional need for west coast. Then we would have a big hole in the key defender department. Arguably a even more important role because an interceptor like that is so hard to come by, and to just swap him out for baker would of made me fuming with anger! If baker is taken to the preseason draft, you would think that Richmond would acknowledge that baker wants a move to the west. I agree with Kane Kornes here, just walk him over. Once baker is in the blue and gold, I’m sure he won’t give 2 shits what Richmond gets back. That moves us into the barass deal again. If pick 14 and a second was bare minimum for barass yesterday, 2 (late) future firsts wouldn’t be a whole load better, but I’d be happier with that because that could open the doors right up to pinch Chad Warner in 2025. Warner for barass and some scraps sounds more like it to me. That gives both clubs a bit of play. There is a scenario for everyone to come out in front, (apart from Richmond) but as I heard during your video then, you’ve got at least 4 first rounders. Be happy with what you’ve got!

Hawthorn's 2025 first and second rounders (from Carlton) to WC for Barrass. WC trade those onward to Gold Coast for this year's pick 13. WC then offer picks 23 and our original 2025 second rounder to Richmond for Baker. Win for all clubs I reckon.

@daztalksfooty This is just speculation of course. But WC will likely end up with a future first and future second with the Barrass trade. Send them onward to GC for this year's pick 13, then our original 2025 pick 2 with this year's pick 2 to Richmond for Baker. Does that make sense? I might be completely off the mark here but WC need another first rounder for this year so I can see them trading next year's one they'll likely get from Hawthorn.

Maybe I'm in the minority, BUT Tom Barrass is 30 in 2025 and although a very good key back, he has NEVER played a full season. We have to keep in mind that we are trading for a 30yo with a dodgy back and NOT a 2022 Tom Barrass playing in a team of spuds. Don't care what WCE think but F.1st and F.2nd is still way too much. Wingard was a star at Port, but he only played about 60% games with us. Older and consistently injured. We shouldn't repeat that mistake.

I think part of the issue is that it now gets hyped all year with weekly updates, and we have round-the-clock coverage during the trade period. And then it's anti-climactic. Just think about how much we've heard about player movement all year... we have Gettable producing an hour of content every week all season. And then not much happens. It is a missed cgance for WC. With all of the talk and speculation about pick 13, there was opportunity for them to be creative with 14. Hawthorn effectively turned it into a free second round pick. It seems that WC have refused it on the basis of not wanting to hand back a third rounder. And now they can't really take much less than two firsts without looking like fools. All to keep a guy who doesn't want to be there and will not be there the next time they see a pre-lim.
@BigCatinBKK3 ай бұрын
It doesn't really matter if WC plan to use whatever they get for Barrass to form the basis of a trade for Baker. It simply means the deals get done with future picks instead of 2024 picks. I don't see how it makes much difference.
@spindoctor63853 ай бұрын
@@BigCatinBKK It makes a difference to Richmond because picks next year are needed. They probably can't have seven, top twenty picks in one year. Well, it is possible but not ideal. But if WC make the deal for Baker some other way (Maybe they try to split pick three and use one of those for him) then the value of a pick next year is lower than it would be this year as they would probably intend to use it in the draft themselves. Time also starts to be a factor soon enough. There are still a lot of ways it could go and a lot of my assumptions above depend on the clubs believing that this is some kind of super draft. I personally take claims like that with a grain of salt, it will be a close to a decade before we know if this is some extraordinary draft year. But maybe the clubs believe it.

@@spindoctor6385 If Richmond prefer future picks, WC are now in a position to get future picks from Hawthorn in a trade for Barrass. WC can get 2025 picks from Hawthorn and then trade one of those picks to Richmond for Baker. So how is it a "missed chance" for WC?
@spindoctor63853 ай бұрын
@@BigCatinBKK Hawthorn used the pick and effectively turned it into a free second round pick specifically because this draft is seen as superior. That could have been done by WC instead. That is just the deal we know 100% that they could have made, others were also possible. If they end up with Hawthorn's next year's first round, the same will not be possible.
@BigCatinBKK3 ай бұрын
@@spindoctor6385 I don't understand your argument. The Barrass deal was always going to feed into the Baker deal. You say that Richmond prefer future picks. OK, that's great. Because there are now more future picks on the table. The Hawthorn-Carlton pick swap simply means there are more picks, in 2025, to organise a deal that sends Barrass to Hawthorn and Baker to WC. How is this a "missed chance" for WC? I don't see it at all.
