@@Alby911 Go back through every year in the past 10 and tell me how many predicted top 5 picks participate in the combine that aren't draft bolters. Its not only AFL its American Sports too. They turn up, do the club meetings and media interviews and thats it

@@craigslater8227 - But how is it a cop out though, the data that's available to recruiters now is more than enough to convince them if it's their kid or not. Cadman participated last year but the rest were injured. I'm not sure how that's a cop out if they genuinely can't make it. And with VCE studies that's a hectic schedule for any young kid; on top of local and state league champs.

​@@Alby911How old are you? VCE studies are too hectic to participate at the combine when you're going anyway if you're considered a potential top pick? What about the other 60 players invited that are finishing school do they just suck it up? What about the mature aged recruits starting work at 6am 5 days a week doing an apprenticeship in a trade? Christ mate. They don't participate because they don't wanna potentially hurt their draft number by being outperformed by people considered lower down the order and have been given explicit instructions that participating won't help anything. How often is the number 1 pick the best player in their draft?
