Thank you SO much for reporting on this! I saw it first about 3 weeks back and I kept thinking to myself: "why is the national news not reporting on this!?" I was especially shocked after I saw the cascade of reports of other missing soldiers and homicides that have happened within the past few years there. This is honestly so enraging because I have friends that have gone into the military just as Vanessa did. I hope they do have a congressional investigation because this is unacceptable.

After serving in the Army for twenty years I can't believe that a female soldier was been sexually harassed by a senior enlisted member and after her disappearence the individual who was harassing her wasn't thoroughly investigated in regards to her disappearence from her unit. I think that unit Commander all the way up her chain of command should be held accountable as to the lack of interest in finding the circumstances in which she went missing from her unit without an apparent motive to do so.

I've trained at different bases, even a ton of years ago, and the security was so good, I would not have even known how to go AWOL. And we didn't even use cell phones. Fort Hood is ridiculous. If they can't and won't keep their people safe, they should be closed. It's absurd that this soldier is/was missing./Ridiculous and distressing that a soldier can be lost so easily./The Army's careless treatment of this soldier's life makes me so fucking mad. I was a soldier and this cuts me to the core.

I spent 22 years in the Army. I've heard public comments that the Army doesn't know how to conduct investigations and didn't care about this case. These comments come from people that don't know what they are talking about. People who find it easy to comment in the negative when they don't have the expertise in this area. I'm an ex cop as well. I would insure to the public that when the United States army conducts investigations they leave no rocks unturned. The Army CID are professionals that work doggedly on cases as does law enforcement in the private sector. Unfortunately we have cases that can take months and even years but eventually get solved. This case is sad and terribly unfortunate but guaranteed eventually get solved. Beating up on the military is wrong. We have cities that can't control all that goes on but it's all to easy for those that want to bring down our cops all over the country and want to destroy our military as well to deliberately look for anything to tear down our full system.
