@shivamvishnu5539 Жыл бұрын
In addition to being the grandest epic of India, the Mahabharata also pioneered the idea of non-linear story telling which is followed by many movies and novel plots today. The story of Mahabharata actually starts many generations AFTER the war with a descendent of Pandavas doing yagna blissfully unaware of his own identity and history. The story unfolds as a flashback retold by a serpent that appears in the yagna!! Even within this retelling there are multiple backstories of varying depths to give sufficient depth to even minor characters of the story. This innovative structure is also a reason why the epic has outlasted all other tales.

It appears Dr. Sampath has not read the Mahabharata. He mentioned that Pandava departed from their Kingdom and proceeded to the Himalayas after killing everyone else in the war. Yudhishthira ruled for almost 36 years after he won the war. It was time for them to retire due to old age. He would be in his late nineties at that time. Therefore, they crowned Parikshit, son of Abhimanyu, and then proceeded towards the Himalayas.

This is a good answer.I think vyasa spoke about the human conflicts that we encounter in the human life. to his students.And he must have advised how to go deep inside ourselves to find an answer. In the Bhagavad Gita, the chariot, Arjuna, and Krishna represent different aspects of the human mind and body, and the path to salvation: Chariot: The human body Five horses: The five senses: tasting, seeing, hearing, smelling, and touching Reins: The human mind Charioteer: Human intelligence Passenger: A person's spirit or soul Sense objects: The roads to be traversed Chitta: The functions of the mind and the repository of all affections In the Bhagavad Gita, the chariot analogy is used to illustrate how the soul can control the senses, mind, and intellect to move in the direction of eternal welfare. The soul experiences the pleasures of the senses, but these do not satisfy it. If the soul wakes up to its higher nature and takes a proactive role, it can exercise its intellect to govern the lower self. The intellect will then direct the chariot in the direction of eternal welfare. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna and Arjuna are also symbols of god (Brahman) and man (Atman), both of which are necessary for the path to salvation. The conversation between Arjuna and Krishna explores themes such as action for action's sake, non-attachment, and devotion.This was shown through his own family story. He wrote 60 portions.Only 1 reached the public and he couldn't clear his students doubts as he passed away.This passed to many and became like a Chinese whisper resulting in today's mahabharath .

When you approach the Mahabharata in the light of Kriya Yoga, you realise that the Kurukshetra War is but a metaphor for the battle between good and bad action within each individual. Shri Lahiri Mahasaya sets it out in the finest of details in his commentary of the Bhagavad Gita, which can be found at the Yoga Niketan online library. Ipso facto the question about the reality of the Mahabharata becomes redundant.

Mahabharat is multilayered legend. it's history, it's metaphor for swadharma (psychology), and so on.
@AshwinSriram Жыл бұрын
Even the great sage Sri Ramana Maharshi explained the Mahabharata as an internal battle between good and bad forces within each of us. But I also think one can interpret Mahabharata through the lens of actual historic events (although some of the story-telling may have elements of embellishment). I think as 'itihasa' it implies the telling of events that actually happened but the way it is told may also reveal many symbolic or metaphoric meanings which are left for the reader to explore on their own. I think Vikram in the clip gives a good account of what itihasa really means through the use of that sloka. Spirituality allows for nuances and subjective interpretations of ancient texts in so far as it helps the seeker advance in the right direction. Even the Ramayana is symbolically interpreted through the lens of Vedanta in the scripture 'Adhyatma Ramayana' so both the 'actual' and the 'metaphoric' versions of the story find relevance.

For example: If X has some evidence which proves Mr. A was great man, whereas Y has evidence too which proves Mr. A was a bad man and both X and Y publishes books stating their views and citing their evidences for the general readers. But then why Mr. X and Mr. Y do not confront each other and delve into a discussion to find out the truth, instead it is left for the general readers to find out the truth among the two views, where the general readers does not even have the primary sources or the intellect to assess. Isn't this a good way to earn money through book selling? Maybe the scholars have an unwritten understanding that no one shall come across their way, so that both can sell their books.

That’s a perfectly good take on the text - a source of philosophy. But, if that’s your take, be unbiased enough to evaluate other philosophies and see a utilitarian value in each to distill one that’s true and effective.

Wrong Mahabharat was not 3000yrs old. How can it be? It is 5000yrs old Aryabhatta had mentioned this in the Aryabhatiya that he was 23 years old 3,600 years into the Kali Yuga, but this is not to mean that the text was composed at that time. This mentioned year corresponds to 499 CE, and implies that he was born in 476.[6] Aryabhata called himself a native of Kusumapura or Pataliputra (present day Patna, Bihar).. Also everyone knows who Aryabhatta is. He was a master in Mathematics, Astronomy, Astrology, etc. For those who don't know "0" was invented by him until then no-one in the western world knew there was such a thing and susrutha who was born in 800bc was the first plastic surgeon or cosmetic surgeon who invented over a 100 surgical instruments and had described about it in Susrutha Samhita. He was inspired by the Pandava brothers Nakul and Sahdev who were surgeons and had treated their brother Karna when he was bleeding after removing the kundan and kawach. If that susrutha's period is 2800yr old and if it was 3000yrs old then he could establish the link with Nakul and Sahdev's descendants he could always have described about the special lep which was lifesaving and which was used on Karna's skin to treat or any divine knowledge from them. For those who don't know 3000-2500yrs ago people from various countries had their embassies in India and there was trade with Indian Kings. Just imagine if anyone knew of Mahabharata wouldn't they settle here in India by following Santana Dharma?? Today we are already seeing people from the western started having a liking for Sanatana Dharma, Gods, traditions, etc of India. Just calling yourself a historian doesn't acknowledge the facts without evidence. There are anchors and the great city of Dwarka found in deep sea waters and various scientific evidence are present which dates Mahabharat to 5000yrs+ and for those who think ramayan is 7000yrs old it is about 500000yrs+ just check how old is tretayuga and you will find the answer. I am an astrologer and I have a passion for History and Law too. So I did all the research by various means and i could realise this knowledge like this can become extinct so I want to share this and not keep it by myself so that future generations should know how great India was and is. Today we see Padmanabha temple and various such temples out there which are thousands of years old and the security features are equipped in the value which is very ancient and very few people know how to unlock it and the consequences. It is everybody's duty to keep educating their kids and future generations. So that this is not forgotten.

The conversation between Arjuna and Krishna explores themes such as action for action's sake, non-attachment, and devotion. Vyasa first wrote a book called jaya . It had 60 portions.Only we could recieve the first portion.The first portion was recieved by his student. .In that book vyasa wrote about the human mind and its day to day conflicts between the mind and the ego. He stressed to go deep within ourself to get the life's answer.He explained it through his family story who then was having lot of struggles in their life.This he depicted with the chariot, our body, the horses represented our senses, horse's reins represented our mind and the charioter represented our intellect , the passenger represented the soul. Vyasa explained the human psyche using his family story and Its conflicts in daily life. His student had many doubts but vyasa passed away ,his students approached many and they had no answer ,so these stories were exaggerated into the big mahabhratha war where actually vyasa spoke about our inner struggles happening in our mind, but this was rewritten by many like the chinese whisper.Maybe it would have happened like the village conflict, which was exaggerated like the sanjay bansali film .

From my point of view if I look at Mahabharata it's a reality which is still happening today the only difference is it doesn't have lots of cheerors the only character is we ourselves and our mind the different stages of our mind from our childhood to our old-age where our wishes dosint ends in our childhood we wishes a nice toy in our hand which is fullfilled by our parents when we grow yanger our youth which filled with lots of lust make us to commit lots of unwanted things and when we become a family man we live for our family the same story is said through out Mahabharata
