A responsible coach would compile all the inappropriate statements made by the players throughout the season and conduct a session on what not to say as a DEI Player. You're supposed to be inclusive...right? It's crucial for these players to see and hear themselves as others do. They may not realize how they come across because they haven't been trained properly in self-presentation. Once words are spoken, they're recorded forever for all to witness. Words must be chosen carefully. They could all learn from Caitlin Clark, which explains her widespread admiration. "Wholesome image and brand recognition!" Take note!

If you look at how Dijonai Carrington blocks other passes or shots, she bends her elbows and pulls her hand straight down. However, she purposely swipes forward while pointing her nails toward Clark’s eyes.

Yeah, it's was grotesque. "Oh, yeah, Caitlin Clark, sure - but let me tell you about all these other players..." They thing it's a zero-sum game: if you say nice things about Clark your implicitly criticising the others. It's not; big up CC22 and everyone else will profit by it. I'm very, very pissed off with what's being going on; the major things being the atrocious quality of the refereeing, and the constant 'whataboutism' from players, fans, and the league itself. She just posted the best rookie season EVER and nothing is being said about the RotY. Maybe they have a reason for delaying it - special announcement, something - but if that's so they FUCKING WHET OUR APPETITE. Hitchcock knew the value of suspense - the camera would focus on the thing that was playing on the audience's mind - and Chekhov, I think it was, said 'If there's a gun on the wall in Act I somebody has to get shot in Act III'. This dreary dismal silence betokens *complete and utter incompetence* on the part of the people running things.

REAlly good insightful take on this chaos that this league has decended into too deep. Why do they allow long nails btw??? I believe that their sense of entitlement stems from being fully subsidized by the NBA. Only so many really strive to be their best for a full game, most will not, and with time realize that the paycheck is coming no matter how they play. These playyers would rather throw the baby out with the bathwater??? Incredible how many have no insight?/ Or are they scared to speak up against the bullies. No way the men could get away with the crap they are pulling. The league would review and hand out suspensions for the flagrants I've seen.

WNBA HAVE HAS BEEN WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO THE 1960 - 1980, the players under paid. Only one or players making some money. They were going bankrupt, the fouls were was main reason players the seats were nearly 1/4 filled. Baseball, football, and basketball had to have more scores same with other sport, not just one player scoring, yes you need other teammates it's is essential to create.

They voiced complaints that men were to blame for their lack of elevation to the NBA's level. They argued that all they required was media exposure. However, once they received it, their only explanation for not meeting expectations was to label the fans as "racist." Enough...can we just play ball? They said they don't want the Fever fans, but it's really just an excuse for how boring most of them play...

This league failed in every sense by not reining in the bullying negativity and racism within the league. For years across the world we have been fighting against these things for years so to see what is supposed to be a professional league displaying itself in the most unprofessional manner without anyone at the top reining it in If they don’t clean up this league, get rid of the racism and bullying within and start running it to inspire young women and children then people will not watch regardless! This is the most unprofessional women’s league and their display on National tv was disgusting.

No doubt that the WNBA wasted an opportunity over nothing. The WNBA could have grown massively overnight like it just did until all this negativity was brought to life. Every player out there would have stepped their game up a little bit the rivalries around this that they could have used to their advantage. The entire league would stepped up to meet the new challenge and with new Talent coming in at this time next year they would be at a whole new level. As far as the new fans that Caitlin Clark is drawing eventually these fans will settle in on their own teams from their own areas. It doesn't matter what caused them to show up eventually people pick their own favorite teams.

Wokeness is at the heart of Nike. A'ja Wilson is a great player. But she is a whiner, complaining about race, no shoe for A'ja until she pressed Nike, white privilege, etc. She, herself, is a private school graduate. She is a poor role model. She is a poor role model critisizing others and having a big mouth. Her off court antics work against her. Clark says the right things and focuses on playing basketball.

The hype around CC brought me to decide to subscribe to the WNBA and watching her play made me want to watch more. What an incredible talent. There are some other incredibly talented players across the league also and the brand of basketball in general is fun to watch even if at times it’s a bit sloppy and chaotic. But I’ve been increasingly turned off by the inability of so many in the league, players, coaches, informer stars to simply acknowledge CC’s talent and the pettiness and reverse discrimination aimed at her is becoming a real turn off. I admire how she ignores all the pettiness and controversy, I wish I could too

The scary part is Caitlin is so good at basketball and is at such a higher level, NBA level player skill in her rookie year, that the jealousy is going to drive one of the WNBA players to try to permanently injure Catlin. When I play a video game against someone where I'm totally out classed. I stop playing with them and go and practice till I'm better then try playing them again. The WNBA players have to play her even when they are out classed. When Caitlin gets the right supporting cast of players around her and the right coaching the embarrassment is going to get worse. The woke stuff and blaming the hostile Caitlin crowd is just a way of hiding the bigger problem. The other shame is the WNBA league and ESPN are complicit in trying to help hide and excuse the jealousy in the lousy referees and silence concerning Caitlin.

Add the terrible officiating and the dangerous play they get away with, especially toward Clark ,and you have a product that people don't like to watch. You just can't have your players crying on social media about how raciest the fans are. It is just stupid if they want more money. The players, league officials, and everyone associated with the W need PR training to put a good face on the players and the league.

Yep, the Comets won all those championships and then when put up for sale the 2nd time couldn't get an offer at the below bargan basement price of a couple mil. Out of business! As in GONE! WHERE WERE ALL THOSE FANS THEN? The league shrunk several more times. And again, where were those multitudes. Starzz busted out of Utah for San Antonio. Couldn't draw enough fans to rent the arena. Busted out of S.A. to Vegas and a name change. Tickets? Stop by a 3rd tier hotel and tickets are given away at the checkin desk. Where were the hoards hungry to see low I.Q. BB, low energy, pretend to be professionals. So lose your players to overseas leagues? Changed the starting date for training camp and lock out any player absent for even a minute. Lock them out for the entire season. The WNBA has been its own worst enemy from its inception. I live in the boonies. Most times I get 3 of the big 4 networks on T.V., but one I get is ION (sub channel of a FOX station 65 miles away. But only because I put up my own 55' Rohn tower. The WNBA failed the ...... WNBA. It had a rocket ship in CC and frankly did everything possible not to lean into her fame. CC will be fine: she already has a massive shoe contract, she can go play in Europe, she could probably start her own league given her popularity. And the WNBA actually pretended that CC was just another player. Completely let a marketing opportunity go by. Tim Duncan = Aja Wilson comparison is apt. No one is watching. CC is instant ratings, instant sales, instant $$$.

The WNBA style of play reminds me a lot of the thug-ball that dominated the NBA during the back half of the ‘90s & the early 2000s. Lotta guys my age get all misty-eyed about that era. It was not fun to watch. Ratings were in the toilet, the League moved the three-point line in for three years because the scoring was so low & things didn’t start to pick up again until the NBA cracked down on non-basketball players & changed the rules to make the game more free-flowing.

It’s a shame that the social justice warriors and the politics have ruined sports It’s hard to watch any sport these days without having an agenda rammed down your throught I remember watching ESPN in college (1989-1992) with my roommates… It was awesome- all about sports- that’s it sports No woke agendas I miss those days

That lockout is going to humble people and Nike will be on the side of the owners. Pemba players are fooling themselves if they think they can win. Now is the time to accept the gradual pay increase and get more sponsors in.

I am here, only because of CC, think of this… Put A’Ja aside for a second, even Wilson itself, is barely relevant as a sports company absent of CC, Wilson, and Wilson, are translucent at best without Caitlin Clark (Kent)… ☑️👌😎 JP

How well informed are you two guys about the money in the WNBA? The Fever (Caitlin’s team) have an average ticket price this year of $140 a ticket and they sold an average of 17,000 per game times 20 home games. That’s $47.6 million for seats alone with a salary cap of just under $1.5 million. The TV rights are going from $60 million this year to $260 million after next year. (One of the deals is for $2.2 billion over the next 11). Total league revenue was approximately $200 million last year but I estimate that increased by $90 million more this year. With the new media deal, that figure would go up to at least $490 million in 2026. Total salaries for all the girls in the league are just under $17 million this season. The bottom line is the girls can’t make anywhere near what the guys in the NBA do BUT they could make 4-10 times (4 times could make the highest paid player hit $1 million) more than they currently do and still leave lots of money for the owners (fat cats).

She was looking straight at Caitlin’s face when her claws almost took out Caitlin’s eye. Saying she didn’t know she had hit her was an absolute lie. The video doesn’t lie. Carrington is a thug and the video proves it.

If CC left this Mickey Mouse league it would go back to being irrelevant and it would serve them right, let their anointed one A'ja Wilson carry the league and see how that pans out, I'm guessing no better than before Caitlin graced that ungrateful association with her presence.

No , the wnba can't fail anyone because it has no merit to depend on. I'm sorry Clark always wanted to play with them . She had no star to hitch her wagon to . When I grow up I'm gonna be house phone repairman. There's no future in it ,just like there's no future in the WNBA . If she wants a legit league ,,,she should make it herself without elbows and bidyslams

I am not going to buy or wear that stupid logo and the energy behind that unappealing face is clearly not something I want in my life. I love basketball. I love watching Caitlin Clark play basketball. I love to watching NBA basketball. I did not know Wilson before Caitlin joined the WNBA. Now that I do, I am certain her energy is not something I want around me. I am over 60 and have a daughter that is over 30. I encourage my daughter to surround herself with people with energy that blends well with hers. I have noticed Wilson teammates telling the world that Wilson is wonderful but I am not getting that energy from Wilson. In fact, I get the opposite of wonderful. It seems like Wilson teammates are stooges and have to say nice things about Wilson in order to stay on speaking terms with Wilson. Crazy is going on and this nonsense fuels crazy.

Let me offer a counter argument. CC has the massive fanbase. They don't need to be marketed to to come along; they are following on socials, they are attending the games, they are buying the jerseys. Should the WNBA lean into this and basically put themselves in a place where they are utterly beholden to CC? What if she decides to become an influencer? What if she blows her ACL and is out two years? What if she gets pregnant and misses a year? The WNBA has attention right now absolutely due to CC; they are trying to use it to diversify their business and de-risk. Could they take a massive revenue leap forward if they just went all in on Clark? Sure. Not sure it's a sustainable business model.

This was disappointing. Making it sound like WNBA players are privileged compared to male professional basketball players? Really? Come on. Let's bring more nuance to that discussion, as there are so many ways in which male basketball professional are treated better, and given more respect, then female ones. And then coming out and saying "do the female basketball players want to be taken seriously"? The fact that a question like this can be asked shows we have so far to go in how we treat female athletes.

Maybe if they did not bitchy and whine so much and concentrated on actually playing interesting ball they could become more than a welfare league......losing money for almost 3 decades is not a good business model. How much money has the NBA sunk into this league in All that time? It boggles the mind they even still exist losing tens of millions every year....

The women are super privledged. They should be PAYING to play in the league since all they did was lose millions of dollars. It's wild how the wnba players think people owe them something 😅
@d818581dd
@d818581dd Ай бұрын
@@kkardi Who said they think people owe them anything? There concerns largely rest with getting a comparable percentage of the pie relative to what the men get. I haven't seen many female basketball players say they should be getting as much as the men, just got a bigger piece that matches the percentage the NBA players get. But this is always what happens when women's sport is discussed. You get sexist trolls like you coming along with the "fEnale aThlEteS suck" mantra repeated ad nauseum. "Lose millions of dollars" and?? The NBA lost loads of money when they were an emerging sport, that's just what happens when you upscale and try to develop an emerging sport. It takes time. The conversation is so much more nuanced than what you have the capabilities to explore. The WNBA is going from strength to strength, and men like you can cry about it 😂

🚨CORRECTION: BEST PLAYER??? ❤ Caitlin Clark DOMINATED the SEASON!❤ 🌸Caitlin Clark is 2024 ROTY & TRUE 2024 MVP!❤ AFTER 40 Games, Caitlin's Stats: Point Average Per Game: 37.76 ❤ Total Points Produced: 1,510.4❤ (OVER 1K POINTS ACHIEVED After 28 Games)❤ Total Points Produced as % of Total Team Points YTD: 44.44%❤ 🌸NOTE: ASSISTS are PART of the Basketball SKILL SET & SHOULD BE INCLUDED when CALCULATING POINTS = TOTAL POINTS PRODUCED/ POINT AVERAGE. ASSISTS = 2.2 POINTS Per ASSIST❤ 🌸MVP = MOST VALUABLE PLAYER NOT BEST but can be. Caitlin leads the league in TOTAL POINTS PRODUCED, which is the BEST metric that INDICATES the VALUE of a player to her TEAM. 🛑SINCE MID-JUNE, Caitlin & the Fever have been RANKED #1 OFFENSIVE team. 🚨Also, in stats for best player, which can be extended to MVP, is there any way to record the amount of blitzing Caitlin has had to endure this season, which also happens to be her ROOKIE season? How much Caitlin has grown in only 4 months, her ROOKIE season in the wnba, is nothing short of AMAZING. What is an even bigger WONDER is how much, through Caitlin's influence, the Fever Team has IMPROVED!❤ 🚨One more thing to consider for MVP, why is Caitlin #1 on the scouting reports and NOT A'ja? Hmmmmm 🌸NOTE: Caitlin & the Fever Team RELY SOLELY on their TALENT to WIN Games. The Aces Team, in CONTRAST, EMPLOY the HELP of BIASED OFFICIATING to WIN their games.😮 ❤Caitlin Clark is 2024 ROTY & TRUE 2024 MVP.❤
