@AquapolisQuest3 жыл бұрын
Wonder Woman 1984 suffered because the movie felt out of place. The first Wonder Woman had the added benefit of feeling like an origin story, so it didn’t need to “fit in” to the Universe being built as seemlessly. 1984 demonstrates for us that the DCEU was left without direction, so 1984 doesn’t build onto anything the way a Marvel movie does. Which makes the third act fall flat.
@AquapolisQuest3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the Exec Team at WB seems to understand the very simple, basic concept of a Sacred Timeline. They need to sit down, map out a clear phase one, then stick to it when building their Universe. Why there isn’t a core team of writers mapping out the DCEU like Marvel does with their Universe baffles me.

@The nerd collector righttt. The WB Exec team didn’t have to comment to Variety or Deadline. They were just tricked by some priestess with a voodoo doll to throw Zach Snyder under the bus, then cover up Joss Whedon’s abuses. I think if you read Ray Fisher’s take of the events, it’s very clear that the people at the top lack vision, don’t trust the people they hire to fulfill a vision, and are perfectly happy to blame anybody but themselves for failure by their own abuses of power.

It was specifically when the ultimate edition of batman v superman came out that I started to like his take on dc a lot more. I enjoyed man of steel but it wasn't until this new context that I was ready to rewatch man of steel and embrace it for what it is. There's no conspiracy here. Character deconstruction is risky. Look at luke in the last jedi. They deconstructed him. Superman and batman go through similar things and fans reacted strongly. The difference is jj Abrams HAD NO PLAN. Snyder was always going to build them back up. There is no conspiracy fans just were to impatient to let snyder verse take its time.

WB needs to come up with a compromise. They're clearly afraid that in the wake of the Snyder Cut, responding to popular demand in anyway will make it look like all they do is "cave" to specific fan requests, and that they don't have any of their own agency. Their solution to this seems to be to actively go against the grain, greenlighting a project that puts them at odds with almost every group in the Fandom. The new Superman film disappoints Henry Cavill fans by being a reboot about someone else, further postponing Cavill's future outings as the DCEU Superman. It disappoints Snyder fans for the same reason. It disappoints both Superman purists and many DC fans of color by race-bending the character, when many of those people would prefer to instead see movies about John Stewart, Icon, Vixen, etc. And it even disappoints DC Comic Lore purists, who might have defended the film had it been about one of the other versions of Superman in the comics who was black (like Val Zod or Calvin Ellis). But by making the film about a race-bent Clark Kent, WB has lost even the die hard core comic people as well because now they're violating comic lore too. Going against popular demand might prove WB is pulling the strings, but it doesn't serve them in the long term. What they should be doing is finding a way to respond to popular demand while still making it clear that they're the ones in charge. The best way to do that is to do a unique compromise. The more unique the better. A compromise like having Snyder make a Cyborg film or greenlighting an Atom film or a Martian Manhunter film keeps the door open for the Snyderverse without WB directly saying "Ok fine, we'll make those sequels just because you said so." It responds to Snyderverse demand with something that people didn't ask for but ultimately helps what they want.

Against Zack? You mean DC Fans? Pre-JL? No. Those were MCU fans claiming online to be DC fans just so they could openly, without consequence or backlash, hate on the DCEU. And at the same time ruin it's reputation, which clearly showed in box office numbers. It literally was a war, but only one side had weapons, while the other was sleeping during the attack. The attackers obviously being MCU fans. (Sure, they've cooled down a few notches after Endgame, but we don't forget the past). Or if you mean right now, in current times? Then no, there's literally nothing but love these days for Zack. WB turned DC fans against WB, not against Zack. I think that is very obvious by just even cassually glancing at the comments of the past months. I don't even know why you would think they made the fans turn against Zack, have you not seen the succes of both Zack's JL and Army of the Dead? They're massive succes stories! Even those who used to hate on him, MCU fans, are now trying to lure him into the MCU to direct Blade or Wolverine or anything else, they're also suddenly trying to lure in DC actors, who'm they've hated on for years and years. It just showcases the mindset of MCU fans. How their thinking is hate based. If there's any hate still out there, it's these losers who've been spreading hate, even turning hate into a hype, for over 15 years. As if Zack, or any of the DC actors, would trade in WB (which they left because of the meddling and dishonesty and unfair treatments) for Disney, which meddles 100% more, is dishonest 100% more and literally trains people in racism. Again; a showcase of the MCU mindset. Doesn't take a genius to put 1 and 1 together. But it sure as hell takes a whole lot more than the entire MCU fandom. xD
