Hey Carmen and Terry I just want to say thank you for your videos my husband and I are currently in Playa Del Carmen we just had lunch at El Pirata we had the red snapper it was so good with the beans and rice many more happy memories Terry it was FIRE 😃

One year ago,the prices has doubled now,was in Cancun May of this year and everything has gone crazy...The peso is now 16-17 to one US...My first trip to Acapulco over 40 years ago.A taco was 5 cents,Corona 15 cents and a plate of fresh oysters was 35 cents...The good days are over..

Now those were good days, geez! We’d kill for those prices lol. This video was made last year. And we just got back from spending 7 months there and just in that time their prices have risen. For us the quality was the same for the fish but we were not feeling the price hike and tried to find alternatives. Thank you for sharing and let us know how you feel about it after your next trip!

@@nomadicterryandcarmen I will let you know for sure..will be 6 nights in PDC and 4 in Cancun....My plan was to retire in Mexico,but i believe everything happens for a reason,but it's still my second home since i visit very often..

I have been eating at El Pirata for over 20 years,i did monthly dive trips to Cozumel and would always overnight in PDC before taking the ferry..My last visit 4 years ago was my last..They knew me very well and i got a huge discount and always great treatment,but they have gotten very greedy.I would go into the freezer and pick out my seafood,they always gave me a great price.Last visit i chose a 3 lb snapper/18oz lobster tail and should have stayed in the kitchen and watch them,snapper was not washed or cleaned very well,no salt and very little garlic butter...Iobster was over cooked and very chewy.I have eaten there over 100 times in the 20 plus years and have seen the quality of the food and service go down over the years...I still travel to PDC 2-4 times a year and will be there next week,might give them another try and see if any improvement..

My and I live in PDC during the winter. El Pirata is one of our favorite seafood restaurants. The other Chiltipen that is Calle 34 and 20th. Both are close to each other. Enjoy.

No,it's not a nice and comfortable place to eat,dust from the dusty street and lots of flies...but the food use to be very good and was my favorite place to eat..When i started eating there over 20 years ago,it was all locals..then some passengers from a cruise ship went there,wrote a review on Trip advisor,then all hell broke out...
