My husband and I were in Playa del Carmen in Nov 2022. We’ve been to the first two places in this video-El Fogon and that stand alone taco stand. Both places were really good and I remember the al pastor at El Fogon to be really delicious! Thank you for highlighting some of the best taco places in Playa del Carmen.

That salsa verde you loved at the end is what we call "fake guacamole". Very popular in many mexican taquerias all over the country. It's essentially "deep fried" jalapeños and garlic, all blended with neutral oil (instead of water). Bit of lime juice, cilantro, etc. are optional. Way cheaper than making fresh guac and it's similarly creamy and almost as tasty.

Yes it is, and even though a visible amount of immigrants were Lebanese, in this culture was used by many nations in the Ottoman Empire, meat spinning is from the turkic culture, but Lavash Bread and the sauces/ salads that makes the döner the döner are coming from many nations such as Arabs, Lebanese, Armenians, and Greeks.. As I said, I am looking forward to learn about every culture, and I love Lebanese cuisine as it is one of the most dominant cultures that affected the Byzantine and Ottoman culinary. As always, Lebanon is a great country, I hope I will be able to visit it in the future.

@@Papermarioenjoyersince2001 from the history I have read, Syrian immigrants brought it to Puebla, Mexico in the 1940s(I think ?) but adapted it to the local meats and spices. They were first called ‘tacos árabes’ and the original place still exists! I love Turkish food, very, very good. 👍

@City Nat Yes, one of the centers where people migrated from was modern day Syria, and they also had a big effect on the development of modern day taco recipe. The migration started in 1900s, and kept happening for a long time.

The taco is probably one of the greatest food inventions of all time. Delicious, flavorful meats, a few onions and cilantro, and a wide variety of amazing sauces all wrapped up in a hand-held plate that you can eat. The tortilla is the perfect meat delivery system. Hands down one of the best foods. I moved to SoCal and a large part of that was because the diversity in foods. But damn do I love me some tacos. Probably more than pizza, to be fair.

"probably more than pizza"--- woh woh, now slow down there buddy, that's one serious thing to say. pizza is like the best thing ever, everyone loves pizza. i wish here in germany you could get tacos, that rival pizza. unfortunately tacos is not a thing here really, especially good tacos i dont think they even exist anywhere in europe. or at least it's very rare. apparently mexico just too far away. tortillas, huge wraps, is prob the only mexican thing that we know. sad stuff

They give you two tortillas per taco when they use corn tortillas that were not nixtamalized (processed with some Ca compound) which makes them less elastic, more prone to breaking. Nixtamalized tortillas come 1 per taco.

Oh! Kebab skewers in mexico, i love mexican cuisine. Tex Mex Burger INGREDIENTS FOR THE CHILI CON CARNE PATTIES: 700 g ground beef 100 grams of corn 100g kidney beans 1/2 tsp cumin 2 tsp tomato paste 1 - 2 tsp cayenne pepper 2 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper FOR THE BUN: 300 ml milk (3.8% fat) 40 grams of sugar 1/2 cube of yeast 400 g flour (type 405) 1 egg 40 grams of butter 2 tsp salt AS TOPING FOR THE BUNS: 1 handful of tortilla chips 1 egg AS TOPING FOR THE BUNS: 1 handful of tortilla chips 1 egg FOR THE GUACAMOLE: 1 avocado 1 clove of garlic 1/2 lemon (juice from it) 1 tsp salt pinch of sugar FOR THE JALAPENO CHEESE SAUCE: 200 g cheddar (stale) 200 grams of cream 2 tsp flour 1 tsp smoked paprika powder 1/2 tsp pepper 1 tsp salt 1 tsp butter 1 shallot 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 2 tbsp jalapenos ADDITIONALLY: Onion rings (I always fry these) PREPARATION The given amount makes 8 burgers. There were four of us and we all made it, except for one burger. BURGER BUNS Dissolve the yeast together with a teaspoon of sugar in the lukewarm milk and let this mixture stand for about 10 minutes. The yeast should now foam. Add the yeast milk to the remaining ingredients for the dough, knead it for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and let it rise in a warm place for at least 1 hour. Then form 8 buns of the same size. Brush them with the beaten egg and sprinkle with the previously crumbled tortilla chips. Bake the buns in the oven at 200°C for about 15 minutes. JALAPENO CHEESE SAUCE Roughly grate the cheese. Dice the shallot very finely and sauté it in the butter in a saucepan. Add the spices and then the flour. Stir vigorously so that no lumps form and then deglaze directly with the cream. Put the grated cheese in the saucepan and let it melt on low. This takes about 10 minutes. Chop the jalapenos into small pieces and mix them into the finished cheese sauce. GUACAMOLE Grate the garlic clove and squeeze the lemon juice. Mix this with the pulp of the avocado, the grated clove of garlic, salt and sugar. I simply knead my guacamole with my hands, which gives the most beautiful consistency. CHILI CON CARNE BURGER PATTIES Strain the kidney beans and mash them roughly with a fork. Add the drained corn, the ground beef and the spices to the beans and knead everything into a homogeneous mass. Shape this into 8 burger patties. Grill the burger patties on both sides on the grill. BUILD BURGERS Top the burger bun with the ingredients in the following order: guacamole, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, patty, cheese sauce, jalapenos, onion rings and finally the top of the bun. Serves the tortilla chips, the remaining cheese sauce for dipping and the guacamole with the burger. Bon appetit! Greetings from Hamburg, Germany.

I'm not hungry right now but your videos always make me want to stuff my face on stuff I haven't tried before. I think the best I can do here is an Old El Paso box kit right now, but Mexico is a place I've wanted to go to for years - but nobody wants to travel with me! The standard reply is "I don't want to get shot", which is sad, because all they're believing ins the bad press.

I absolutely love Playa de Carmen! But if I am not within the resort, I do not have very good phone service or any Internet services. What are your tips in order to get better Internet service while in the city taking a tour of the city on these fine taco tours. Thank you very much, hopefully you can help me.❤

If there's one thing I remember about Playa Del Carmen when I went, it's that the beach is where the life is. Random dudes doing flips and gymnastics, everyone's either playing volleyball or, ahem, football. Hardly anyone was doing nothing. The restaurant I went to was awesome. Awesome steak and fries. The steak was so juicy and flavorful, and the fries were just homemade and good. Amazing place.
