If you payed a little bit more attention you see that the girl from up playing with the plane is playing with a bi-plane (a plane with two wings parallel to each other). Then if you look the one that helps Buzz Lightyear it is a normal plane with one wing. So most likely they are not connected or it's just an animation mistake.
