Although I'm not 100% certain that Luigi was based off the Fiat in The Castle of Cagliostro, it's quite possible that may have been the case as Hayao Miazaki is one of John Lasseter's main influences, and a close friend of his too! Additionally, there's actually several other references hidden on the stickers of Number 57 (the beta version of McQueen seen in the teaser trailer) that you missed. A sticker that says 'Tia' (likely a reference to Tia Kratter) A sticker that says 'Lucky' (likely a reference to Bud Luckey) And a sticker that reads: 'JLP' (which I believe stands for John Lasseter Production/Picture) I have to say though, despite being a major Star Wars fan, I don't think Miss Fritter's line sounding like Grievous' iconic quote is anything more than a coincidence. (Even though I know Pixar have paid homage to Star Wars many times over the years since they were formerly a division of Lucasfilm.) P.S. I had no idea that Axelrod's name was derived from one of Eddie Izzard's comedy routines, or that Guido's paintbrush was a reused asset in WALL·E; that's so cool!

Professor Z, Zündapp Janus is an underrated car, the only car made by Zündapp, up to that poin they were known for motorcycles. Also Zündapp is voiced by Thomas Kretschman, one of the best german actors ever, also known for playing nazi roles in movies like The Pianist, Downfall (FEGELEIN!!!), Valkyrie, he was even part of the MCU, and more recently Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (again, as a nazi).

An interesting tidbit of more indepth knowledge. As to the validity of the claim there seems to be a fair amount of conjecture. But anyway, the Hudson hornets racing success around the tracks of the US could likely be attributed to the directional spin of the engine. It's said to be a little known thing, but generally engines in cars spin clockwise adding slight outward centrifugal force towards the outside of the track. Whereas the Hudson spun counter clockwise giving the same or similar force towards the inside of the track. Thus turns to the left are much easier than in other vehicles. Now, before this gets a lot of "UHNUHHH!" I'm just going by the interview notes of actual racers that raced Hudson's back in the day.

Personally, I’d like for Cars 4 to focus on Lightning deciding he’s driving off the track for good to focus full-time on mentoring Cruz, but not before giving it his all for one last season. Maybe have it be the culmination of everything we’ve seen up to that point, and repurpose that unused ending for Cars 3 to combine both the slipstream and the Doc Flip, maybe repeatedly flashing between when Doc and Cruz did to Lightning’s attempt.
