No way I would touch a Disney license lol. If you got a DC license I could see that as a win and I think you could bring a lot to the table there. Exo squad, Battletech, Capt Power or some other under collected vintage toy line that needs a revival.

I'd love to see what you'd do with some scifi, wacky, and movie licenses. There's a ton of cult classics that desperately need updates, and movies that never got figures at all. A Sho Kasugi ninja figure would kick major ass.

Spinmaster has put their hat into the collector arena with their recent Playstation line of figures. Seems like a pitch to get a bigger license. Imagine Marvel Legends with the spread that their Horizon Zero Dawn Aloy and Kratos figures got. Very close to import brands like SHF. I'm not loyal to brands, I just want my collections to be able to work together.

Speaking of licenses, ever thought about getting the Mass Effect license? I know you aren't that wild about action figures for video games, thinking that the audiences don't align (though Spinmaster seems to be doing well with their gaming focused line right now), but Mass Effect might be a different beast, since it is for gaming basically what the Star Wars OT was for movies - it is an incredibly beloved sci-fi trilogy with outstanding world-building AND it is about to become relevant again, since amazon is working on a tv show and a new game is also coming in a couple years. Mass Effect is military based with fantastic designs (so right about your alley) - and there is a lot of re-use potential, since the games re-used assets quite a lot themselves. Now, taking on an entire trilogy is a big commitment, but you could tip your toe and test the waters by releasing just a figure of the main character Commander Shepard (as both, the male and female version). McFarlane did that a decade ago, but the figures were horrible.

One of the biggest fears many of these companies have is that another company could make a better product from a previous IP they used to own. This also goes to other non-toy companies like NBC/Universal who own Exosquad. Even though they gave up on the IP years ago, they're not going to let other production companies handle their IP because of fears they may end up making a better product or animated show better than the original. So they'll just hold onto those rights as long as they can.

I would like to add to the discussion. Blackrock and Vanguard (essentially the same company) combined own 22% of Hasbro. They also own about the same amount with Disney. Owners pick the board of directors. The board picks the executives. Executives make the course changes. Hasbro has announced 1) they are a game company and 2) they are going to become entirely digital. My prediction is Disney will 'anoint' Hasbro to become their licensing agent. Hasbro will then do all the deal making with other toy manufactures as to who can make the toys. They already license their own IPs like GI JOE and Dungeons & Dragons to other companies. This would ensure that whoever makes Star Wars Black Series and Marvel Legends keeps the line going in the style, scale and quality of Hasbro's lines. The result would be: no disruption in the existing toy collector lines; no risk of unsold inventory to Hasbro for dud movies and shows, revenue streams still pass through Hasbro (Blackrock) and up to Disney (also Blackrock). Debate me if you want folks, I have several videos showing receipts. My final message: invest in indie toy companies.

Very interesting. Thanks for the insights. Honestly as someone just looking at Marvel & DC seriously for the first time this year Hasbro might be in trouble. While I would never call my toys investments with a serious face, even the now expensive Action Force ones, I do like that most collectibles generally hold decent resale/trade value in the long term. The clearance mountains are great for customizing at least. I would love to see what Jada could do with Marvel or DC.

This would be world shaking for Hasbro to lose Marvel and Star wars. But you know it would be liberating in a way for collectors since its the end of the line. A place to stop. Or continue under the new license holder. Jada is delivering a lot of quality value for six inch fans lately. Imagine them with an Andor season 2 line, and not skimping on accessories like were used too from Hasbro. Really surprised Mcfarlane has not done the DC creature commandos yet they seem perfect for the creepy and gritty mcfarlane house style. Maybe its something for next year. But if Hasbro gets the DC license I would be excited to see those characters in a legends style as well.

It would be cool to see other companies try their hand at Marvel & DC figs but with leak lists for products meant for 2025 being very easy to find, I don't think anything is changing hands for awhile. Obviously yes, those leaks can be faked, change release windows, get canceled, etc but a lot of them are very accurate in ny experience. I've only been a collector since 2018 so I don't know as much as others but this is just what I've noticed over the past 6 years collecting multiple lines.

Since Endgame: Far From Home, No Way Home, Loki S1/S2, Wandavision, Shang-Chi was pretty good, Black Widow was fine, Guardians V3. No Way Home, the Black Panther Sequel, Far From Home, Guardians all did well at the box office. No Way Home might also be the best single-contained movie they've made as well.

In my opinion there could be a lot of future chaos in the toy collecting community - I can see a lot of Legends collectors feeling very difficult to adjust to a McFarlane Marvel line - one thing I've wondered, could Diamond Select maybe lose a Marvel Licence to McFarlane? Would the different scales (6inch for Marvel Legends, 7 inch for Diamond Select/McFarlane) allow two different companies to have the same license? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts Bobby.

I’d like Valaverse to produce all new original super hero action figures. Start fresh without decades of continuity & history. Super hero / villains will always be popular if done well. Valaverse name sounds very super hero-ish so why not go for it. Some cool translations of the Vala name lean towards good & evil.. The name Vala, derived from the English language, carries the profound meaning of “chosen”, it was believed to symbolize an individual who was selected or favored by a higher power. Vala (valá-), meaning "enclosure" in Vedic Sanskrit, is a demon. Cool !!

I can't see Hasbro getting rid of Marvel now, especially with the new spark of life from Deadpool & Wolverine. I know tour a D.C. guy, but Marvel has been killing it with the box office movies. Minus some of them, like "The Marvels," but if an MCU movie is successful, like End game, GOTG3, D&W. They always seem to capitalize on it, especially with their comic figures. So i see them keeping Marvel.

As a Star Wars The Vintage Collection collector, I'm curious what it is you think aren't very good about Hasbro's product. I only pick up an occasional Black Series figure. I prefer the scale of TVC because of the playsets and vehicles. That said, I generally like what Hasbro puts out for TVC, as long as they stick to mostly OT, PT eras. Outside of Andor and some of the Mandalorian stuff, I'm not a big fan of most of their other Star Wars projects. The Acolyte, for example, is not an assortment of figures I'm even remotely interested in and Hasbro invested heavily in putting out figures for that IP. I'm seeing most of those warming the pegs now. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Hasbro's Star Wars line...

Mattel had the DC license for what felt like forever so when it was divided up in 2000 it felt like a shock to the system. Initially the price points on the McFarlane and Spinmaster products were a great draw especially when compared to Hasbro. The only positive that I can think of re McFarlane is that his character choices don’t have to go up the corporate flagpole for justification. Hence we’re getting some deep cut figures like Ragman

The only thing that I question is that the “Disney” licences, Star Wars and Marvel are linked as a single license. They’ve always been separate. And on separate schedules. At least for the other toy makers, like Lego. The big “License Categories” for Disney were “Marvel” “Star Wars” “ “Disney Princesses” “Frozen” “”New Movie not yet added to Princesses or Classic” “Disney Classic”. And those will have several sub categories of license. And while Marvel is definitely up next year, is Star Wars? I thought Hasbro was only halfway through their last contract?

The Marvel license may be tricky for the fact that Disney (always has and always will suck) is going to loose the rights to Marvel because Ryan Reynolds is going to buy Marvel and save it from the tragedy it has become. Other than that it's obvious that whatever companies holds the license now is going to be the same companies that holds the licensing in the future.

McFarlane getting any of it would mean it’s off the table for me. I have not been collecting any DC from them. It’s just not what I want from a line. Ending Marvel Legends seems like a bad idea. Star Wars can go to whoever I think that ship has sailed as far as profitably. It will always do ok but now what it once was. I would like DC to get away from McFarlane. Right now I think a lot of action figure fans have eyes focused on the future of Jada and I think that would be an amazing fit there.

If I were Hasbro, I'd try and drop Star Wars and Marvel MCU characters, while trying to keep Marvel Legends. Hasbro should also try an get DC. MacFarlane has too small of a catalog to appeal to Marvel jumping to 7 inch scale, and he seems to pump out one character over and over. Hasbro needs to stop that as well. In the end, as long as G.I.Joe keeps going, I don't care too much. I'd think DC would be happy if Hasbro picked them up and turned them put as big as the Legends series got. After all, DC would benefit more from Marvel's boost behind them. Sometimes you win a battle by teaming up. PS Action Force series 5 kicks ass!!!

I would like starwars to go to jazzwares, bring back 3.75cm with vehicles playsets like what they do with halo , vintage collection 90 dollar price tag for vehciles just doesnt do it for me

McFarlane has done okay in my book since I was a kid, I enjoyed the Spawn toys, but over the decades my tastes have shifted (as it happens, right?) and his DC line has been Eh for me. They're basically poseable statues, given the loose/weird joints...I'm looking at you, SS Harley Quinn...like good god put some ice on those wrists lol All that being said, I'm trying to sell my 3 remaining DCMV figures. The only item that now appeals to me down the road is the Batman Beyond Batmobile. Eagerly awaiting when I save enough to pre-order it. Also, I recently heard that Col. Siege is delayed because a lot of his figures were defective....did you give the factory works' noggin's a floggin'? lol jk but yeah I eagerly await my Col. Siege, has him pre-ordered since he first went up!

If Hasbro loses the license to Marvel and someone else gets it and doesn't go with the same scale as 1:12 that Legends Uses Im out as a collector . I won't buy DC figures because McFarlane doesn't scale .
