Aiden Quinn’s acting is so good in this scene! You can feel his rage, jealousy and resentment in just a few subtle glances and tones. Except when he screams, lol. I bet that was his take from the script, but it wouldn’t have sounded authentic any other way, lol.

Aiden Quinn is such a great actor I felt so bad for him and the brothers but especially for him❤❤
@rnguyen2516 Жыл бұрын
I didn’t like him the first time I watched the movie. But he’s such a good actor and always seemed to be in an uphill battle whether it was to please his father or get Susannah to love him. I feel like he was left to clean up everyone’s messes and poor decisions! I can’t imagine what it was like for him to walk into the room after Susannah shot herself. Now that I’m grown, I can definitely relate to him better.

Two grieving people who desired each other and whose biggest problem was timing, then layers of grief and guilt
@123abcdef39 ай бұрын
What makes this a good movie is that you can truly feel for each of the main characters despite their flaws because they're not bad people. Tristan didn't truly love Susannah but was acting on their intense physical attraction as well as the sadness from the loss of Samuel. Alfred, while a decent man, insisted on being with a woman who was never going to love him the way she did Tristan, or even Samuel. You feel for Susannah because she's not trying to cause drama but being the only beautiful and cultured woman in a house of young men around their age, it seemed inevitable.
@oluwaseun6952 жыл бұрын
Beautiful scene. Alfred loved her from day one. Tristan was attracted to her and she was to him too. But they both wouldn't have crossed that line if Samuel was alive. Tristan loved her but he was wild at heart, had too many demons to fight with and the guilt of his brother was weighing him down. Fact is Susannah never loved Alfred.

And Tristan never loved Susannah he loves Isabel 2, his actions confirm it. Alfred should have moved on and Susannah should have left that family alone.

@lordalessan9 ай бұрын
It's never explicitly said but Tristan loved Alfred more than Susannah for anything, which is why he felt so guilty for driving him away and being with Susannah will only drive a further wedge. That's why he felt more peaceful when she married Alfed.

This scene confirmed for me that Albert's grievances with Tristan has nothing to do with Samuel more so to do with his own jealousy.This scene also confirmed for me that Tristan is not in love with Susanna. He cares about Susanna because of her link to Samuel but he's not in love with her
@PBottomPoochies2 жыл бұрын
Definitely. He was never in love with her. But Susannah clearly loved Tristan from the moment she saw him, and likewise Alfred loved her. I’ve kinda been there. When the one person you truly love doesn’t love you back. 🥺
@feyyfey2 жыл бұрын
I disagree, I think Tristan also loved her from the moment he saw her. You forget how he stared at her first time they met, and the scene when they were playing Tennis. Or right before the brothers went to war, he was close to kissing her. He later became conflicted within himself because of the death of his brother. I think there was also somwhat a feeling of guilt mixed in his dilemma as well. And Alfred triggered that guilt by insinuating Samuels death being a convenience. But when Tristan came back from his long journey he was in tears to find out Isabel had moved on exactly as he asked her to when he wasn't in his right state of mind. Bottom line, their love for each other was only held back by their circumstances.

I love how people don't understand what just happened here. Alfred, being one of the few people that Tristan held in high regard, comes up to him and rattles him so badly, that Alfred's prophecy of Tristan failing comes true. Because, he knew what to say to Tristan in order to get what he wanted, he wanted Tristan and Susannah to fail. He accused Tristan of LETTING Samuel die because he wanted to be with Susannah just for the fun of it (?) . I can't remember what Tristan had against Alfred to say that this was also done out of spite. Then, he makes himself look like the good guy by wishing ONLY SUSANNAH GOOD LUCK when Tristan was the one who really needed to hear that.

@yahelysflores291 I could be wrong (watched it years ago) but I believe the father only objected to Albert and not Tristan. He favored Tristan to the point of him doing no wrong.
