I did the same thing. As a new, blushing newlywed, I went to get my name on my husband's bank account. A move I'm sure he regrets to this day. LOL. A lady with a bride of Frankenstein white streak in her front hair handed me her desk pen to sign papers to get on his account. Quite absentmindedly , I put the pen in my purse. At some point, she opens her palm and says "um my pen young lady?" I was mortified. I said "Oh so sorry I can be such a klepto." Well that's what my puppy love honeymoon swoon mind meant to say, but of course my mouth said: "I can be such a nympho!" Turned lobster red and fled to the car and I basically never came in that branch again. Every time my husband went in, she came out to see me with a wink and a smirk or at minimum she'd ask Him how I was. We changed bank branches. At 60 now I would not even blink if I said the wrong thing but back then I still had the ability to be embarrassed. I bet she's close to 80 now still laughing at me some where.

That’s funny granny! I worked part time in a drug store when I was young and a man came in asked for a package of prophylactics. It was a new word to me, so I asked, can you tell me what they are used for? I was instructed to ask that question, so I would know which department to go to find the product. The man, flustered, turned around and went directly to the pharmacist. In those days, they were kept behind the counter.

Funny, Granny! My story. Worked at a store sold peoples thing. Guy comes in wants to know how much he could sell bowling balls for. I showed him several that had sold, pointing out the weight and the amount they sold for. So I asked him "how much do your balls weigh? Dead silence in the store as I prayed nobody heard or would say anything. No such luck, laughter all over. Months later, couple comes in, took a look at me, began laughing and reminded me they were there when I said that. 🤭

My husband owned 69 Camaro. He went to car shows and won trophies. He passed away last year at age 75. The car is now my son’s. I still get to ride in it. Great memories.

It is good that you can laugh at yourself now. We have a lot of car shows around here in our area and every so often there are a lot of them drive by our place here in the country. We live along a county highway and they often take that to get to where they are going or coming back from. So we see a lot of vintage cars and enjoy the free shows whenever they parade by our house.

That's hilarious! I was wondering if the title meant what came to my mind - and it did, lol. One time, when I was a young sprig of 18, I was hanging out with my nice little group of church friends, and we were joshing each other, and I meant to call my friend either a "dork" or a "dink" (both meant the same thing, a nerd), buuuuuuut - my brain never did figure out which one it was going with before I actually spoke, so it did a combo...... boy, there was no recovering from that one at all!!!! hahaha

I worked as a dispatcher for many many years. One of officers I worked with gave out the description of a car and that is how he said it too. Quietest radio traffic you ever heard. Then the captain told officer he needed to meet with him. Everyone laughing theirselves to death

Oh, so funny!!!!! I can just imagine how you felt, especially since you were shy and quiet. I actually owned a '66 Chevy impala. It was a burgundy color and i thought it was the bomb!!!!!! How i wish i had that car today. Another car i owned was a '67 Oldsmobile 442, bright yellow with a black vinyl top. I called it Big Bird!!! My uncle had 8 antique cars, after he passed away, his daughter put them all in storage but could not keep up with the storage fees. She never asked the family for help. Very sad. I was talking to someone once and instead of saying back, it came out black ..I was so embarrassed!!!!
