@@JJONNYREPP I like the word indeed. It's a way of saying "I agree with you, but I also want you to realize that I have a much deeper, secret, knowledge of the subject I'm agreeing with you about" at the same time, y'know

Triangle (BBC2, 29 April 1983)’ 0600am 8.8.24 could easily suggest move on, this is boring or yes, i totally concur how about lunch....(?) or hypothetically speaking, i need to go but this subject is amazing... or.... or..... anyhow; it's the way one hypothesizes a topic which makes it worthy or morish... as for secret and furtive knowledge - that kindda denotes intelligence or deep and bonded trust. indeed..... yeah, ok...

To be fair to Triangle, if it had been shot it on film and had a stronger production team (someone like, say, Robert Banks Stewart or Verity Lambert overseeing things) _maybe_ it wouldn't have been quite the embarrassment it ended up becoming.

It was shot on video tape on a real ferry ship to make it realistic and to cut costs, a 'Crossroads At Sea meets Dallas'. Unfortunately, it lacked the charisma of Crossroads and Dallas's enjoyable cheesiness, being hackneyed and clichéd and just plain dull. The cabins as studios were too cramped, making the direction of scenes flat and undramatic, and the North Sea's constant rainy and windy weather cast a grey gloom over them, making the 'glamour' aimed at impossible. The fact Triangle was the most watched imported TV programme in Germany, a nation known for its bad taste, tells how dismally the BBC failed to make a uniquely British, cheap and cheerful version of glamorous American TV sagas.

hmmmmm................. they're probably trynna parody an american soap. they did the same with eldorado - wherein there was a realisation that if yer churning out 5 days a week scripts then quality is going to suffer - whether that be storylines or the desire to act that kindda cak out ad nauseam. i mean, you do the audience a dis-service, here, as most take this kindda thing for what it is. as opposed to discenring whether it's post modern, post ironic or just plain old trash...and if coronation street is the acme of all things soap then the bar isn't really set that high. it may have been 40 years ago. but then the gritty northern kitchen sink drama has died a death since tony warren or albert finney traipsed about being "northern".... gritty realistic northerners are a pain in the arse. just as mockney must be a pain to be saddled with if yer native to the regions we deem: down south.... take these sopas for what they are - mass produced entertianment. you either enjoy that kindda pap or not. personally speaking, it's the preserve of women, the soap, and since completing my media studies course over 30 years or so ago i could not tell you has murdered who or who actually stars in these things.....
