Musical Encounters: Jazz & Classical Music is an educational project aimed at secondary students demonstrating the reciprocal influences between “classical” music and jazz. The program for this recital for two pianos, presented by Fernando Palacios, consists of works from the Classical repertory (Bach and Chopin) and jazz standards (Bill Evans and Oscar Peterson) together with pieces halfway between these two traditions (Gershwin, Debussy and Bernstein). Hence the connections uniting these two worlds are revealed and concepts like improvisation, swing, the blues form and ragtime are introduced.
Works by J. S. Bach, G. Gershwin, C. Debussy, B. Evans, O. Peterson, F. Chopin, A. C. Jobim y L. Bernstein
Noelia Rodiles (piano) y Moisés P. Sánchez (piano)
