Excellent playthrough, dude! Just got this in the mail today from eBay after not owning it in 15 years, nor playing it in probably 20 years! My brother and I got it from our dad for Christmas when it came out in 1997, and always loved it. It can be quite a tough game, and we never finished it, nor unlocked T.T. as a racer. I will be referencing this video to help me 100% the game, thanks! Subscribed!.

20+ years ago I used to watch my big brother play this since I was rubbish at it (I mean I was only a few years old!!) And i guess at some point during the silver coins in the 4th world, he got annoyed with me over something and refused to play it anymore, so I never knew what happened when you get the final piece of the amulet. I remember asking him about it and he told me that the lighthouse on the beach turns into a rocketship and you go to space. And that sounded so ridiculous and fake to me I never believed it lol. Forgot about it over the years and finally decided to watch this video to find out the truth. All I can say is 1. I owe my bro an apology and 2. I'm glad I never got that far because wizpig would've given me nightmares lol Thanks for the great video, I'm glad to get closure on this!!

Does "time trial on" only apply for next race thereafter and or needs being turned on off per race OR ALTERNATIVELY does it apply until next session/ loading zone/ interaction with T.T. in overworld. I've never played this game outside ds soft remake.

No, this was played directly on an N64 using an MClassic and Super 64 HDMI adapter.

You're just cruising through the tracks, are there any techniques to go faster apart from picking up the Blue balloons and getting the boosts? Were you using the original controller for this playthrough?

I was using an N64 controller. The best way to go faster is to let off the accelerator for a brief second when you approach a speeder and the same thing with the blue balloons. It can take a little bit of time to really get how this trick works but once you learn it, the game becomes very easy overall.

I don't know where I read it and if it's true, but from what I understood it was said that very fast repeated taps on the acceleration button would make you go faster than normal as well. I never managed to do this, and I magine it to be an energy draining method for your hands. I'd say it's unlikely to be true, but there have been other videos on this game in which the vehicles seem to go faster than normal without boosts. By the way, I don't count glitches, of which there are some in the game that are an advantage for the player. There is even one in the final Wizpig challenge that works as a shortcut which would make you win the race easily if you master it. I didn't master any glitch-racing, but I've seen a video in which the player does this. It seems to involve approaching the wall of the inside of one of the curves from a certain angle.

@@williamwilting repeatedly tapping A when driving (the car) does indeed make you faster. (you can prove this by putting the speedometer on and comparing your top speed with tapping and without tapping.) And it doesn't tire your thumb out actually. You don't have to tap that fast - about 4x a second is fine.
